I am a classically trained opera singer, and even though I am a contralto, if I go to the upper ends of my register, even as a woman, the same thing happens.
Interesting. I watched an opera singer react and say she disagreed it was because of that. She said it’s because of tension. Like nerves leading to shaking. And of course anyone can have nerves even if they’re as good as Dimash. But that sounded weird to me. I saw another reactor (vocal coach) say it looked like a technique he was doing purposely to help hit the notes. At this point I’m stumped haha even the pros all disagree

If you search Singer 2017 in Wikipedia, there's details on how contestants were ranked for each performance, it'll explain why he got 2nd place (though some say the contest favored a Chinese winner, who knows). He got the most international recognition anyway. I'm Asian and I alternate between laughing and cursing when I watch dimash, so I think you laughing is just a normal reaction.

I love you two's reactions so much! I've rewatched the SOS video so many times, really makes me smile. If you ever see behind the scenes of the singer competition as he's about to walk on stage he looks rather nervous then just switches to performer mode and he's in that state till he gets backstage. There's a video from SOS, his first performance where pre song he's clearly nervous then after he gets backstage he says Oh my God like he's surprised it went well ha. He's also not just sitting on his heels accepting the level he's at either which would be very easy to do. He's still training, doing a masters in composition at the minute and still vocal training. Managed to improve his English a massive amount in just two years when he could have just kept to singing Kazakh and Russian songs (he's sung in many other languages by learning the songs phonetically rather than translating them as the meaning can be lost), a few people aren't massive fans of some of his early English songs due to this but personally; in the UK there's a different accent every 10miles in some places so it really doesn't detract from the songs for me luckily. I love the laughter it's a clear sign of joy and astonishment. I hope even if you don't do lots of reactions to him that you get to see a lot of his songs in your own time. There are just so many different genres and types of songs that he's done be it from the concerts or individual performances of one song for some event. Have a lovely week.

Its Dee - maaash. Amazing, its a gift as well as 20 yrs of training and hardwork and still do training for 3 hrs every day ( he is 25 now btw). He won first place in first two episodes (sang SOS and Opera2). The judges are the 500 members of the audiences in studio ( not 2 or 3 persons). The lady who said "wow" at the end won the overall competition, she is Sandy Lam, a 53 yrs old famous singer from China who has huge fan base and 30 yrs is music industry, a very good singer. As this is a competition for established singers, Dimash was youngest and not so famous that time, to come 2nd overall is quite an achievement. Now he is famous, worldwide fans in more than 120 countries. Thank you.

Like anything else in life there is always personality and politics with contests like this where the best is voted by the audience. The winner of the competition really did not matter because the competition itself shot Dimash to superstardom in China which was the real prize for his participation.
i've watched hundreds of reactions to Dimash, and I think you guys are the best so far. The lady who won first prize was Sandy Lam, she has a beautiful voice and I think it was close. The Song was from the Singer Vitas (Russia). Vitas did not allow him to sing it ever again in Public, because Dimash sang it better and even higher, then Vitas could. He was a Little pissed about that. BTW Dimash is a big MJ fan and he met Jackie Chan in the Time he was at The Singer competition in China. Since then, they are friends, and Dimash attended at a Jackie Chan Festival a few weeks ago. Man, you have soooo much Perfomances to catch up with. And he is sooo much better today, you can`t even imagine. He is a prodigy, a phenomenon and I am so lucky to see him live in November in Germany. He will be here with Igor Krutoy`s Anniversary Tour. Igor was in semi-retirement and than he met Dimash a couple of month ago. Since then they are a magical duo, and Igor let Dimash sing his old hits (he is very picky with who is allowed to sing them) in Dimash Style and even writes new Songs, only for him. He has now the whole palette of tones he Can work with, that Can inspire ones creativity, where in the past was a Limit, there is non anymore, with Dimash. Try to think, if there is ONE male Singer on the Planet who could cover a Dimash Song ?! I think no one could copy that.

They did however loved Dimash and later admitted that he's the best, I.e. genius. I like your reactions, please go on and keep them natural :) Yes Dimash has true gift and after 3 years of following him (I discovered him in this, The Singer, contest in 2017) I must say he is vocal genius. He mastered all registers and all techniques, including eastern ones from Kazakhstan/Middle East/Yakutia(Siberia) connecting east with the west. Very special young man and singer. I like your remark about Bruce Lee - I read somewhere in commnents similar thing, that he is for singing what Bruce Lee was for martial arts, he was taught one thing (classical singing) and then he added all other techniques and became an absolute master, I think Dimash is on his way to it and he wil leave his mark on music and will be remembered by generations. if you want to go on with The Singer next will be Show Must Go On by Queen :) But you can also listen to Sinful Passione or Love Is Like A Dream or many others :) He has one album out called ID and wil have his first solo concert in USA in NY 10th of December this year, Barklay's Center, Brooklyn :) Greetings from Poland - Karolina

If you search Singer 2017 in Wikipedia, there's details on how contestants were ranked for each performance, it'll explain why he got 2nd place (though some say the contest favored a Chinese winner, who knows). He got the most international recognition anyway. I'm Asian and I alternate between laughing and cursing when I watch dimash, so I think you laughing is just a normal reaction.

I love you two's reactions so much! I've rewatched the SOS video so many times, really makes me smile.
If you ever see behind the scenes of the singer competition as he's about to walk on stage he looks rather nervous then just switches to performer mode and he's in that state till he gets backstage. There's a video from SOS, his first performance where pre song he's clearly nervous then after he gets backstage he says Oh my God like he's surprised it went well ha.
He's also not just sitting on his heels accepting the level he's at either which would be very easy to do. He's still training, doing a masters in composition at the minute and still vocal training. Managed to improve his English a massive amount in just two years when he could have just kept to singing Kazakh and Russian songs (he's sung in many other languages by learning the songs phonetically rather than translating them as the meaning can be lost), a few people aren't massive fans of some of his early English songs due to this but personally; in the UK there's a different accent every 10miles in some places so it really doesn't detract from the songs for me luckily.
I love the laughter it's a clear sign of joy and astonishment. I hope even if you don't do lots of reactions to him that you get to see a lot of his songs in your own time. There are just so many different genres and types of songs that he's done be it from the concerts or individual performances of one song for some event.

Its Dee - maaash. Amazing, its a gift as well as 20 yrs of training and hardwork and still do training for 3 hrs every day ( he is 25 now btw). He won first place in first two episodes (sang SOS and Opera2). The judges are the 500 members of the audiences in studio ( not 2 or 3 persons). The lady who said "wow" at the end won the overall competition, she is Sandy Lam, a 53 yrs old famous singer from China who has huge fan base and 30 yrs is music industry, a very good singer. As this is a competition for established singers, Dimash was youngest and not so famous that time, to come 2nd overall is quite an achievement. Now he is famous, worldwide fans in more than 120 countries. Thank you.

Sandy Lam won the overall competition. She is a famous and beloved singer in China. And she is a wonderful performer. Like anything else in life there is always personality and politics with contests like this where the best is voted by the audience. The winner of the competition really did not matter because the competition itself shot Dimash to superstardom in China which was the real prize for his participation.
i've watched hundreds of reactions to Dimash, and I think you guys are the best so far. The lady who won first prize was Sandy Lam, she has a beautiful voice and I think it was close. Dimash is now internationally famous. I hated how USA's show The World's Best poorly butchered Dimash great talent, let me know if you believe Dimash responded to the show was right
Sandy is amazing as well. I heard she won by .29%. It was really, really close. As for that show that shall not be named, I hope they skip it all together.

The Song was from the Singer Vitas (Russia). Vitas did not allow him to sing it ever again in Public, because Dimash sang it better and even higher, then Vitas could. He was a Little pissed about that. BTW Dimash is a big MJ fan and he met Jackie Chan in the Time he was at The Singer competition in China. Since then, they are friends, and Dimash attended at a Jackie Chan Festival a few weeks ago. Man, you have soooo much Perfomances to catch up with. And he is sooo much better today, you can`t even imagine. He is a prodigy, a phenomenon and I am so lucky to see him live in November in Germany. He will be here with Igor Krutoy`s Anniversary Tour. Igor was in semi-retirement and than he met Dimash a couple of month ago. Since then they are a magical duo, and Igor let Dimash sing his old hits (he is very picky with who is allowed to sing them) in Dimash Style and even writes new Songs, only for him. He has now the whole palette of tones he Can work with, that Can inspire ones creativity, where in the past was a Limit, there is non anymore, with Dimash. Try to think, if there is ONE male Singer on the Planet who could cover a Dimash Song ?! I think no one could copy that.

That was his dad at the end :))) BTW he is huge fan of Michael Jackson and Jackie Chan .While in China he was so well welcomed and they arranged him to meet Jackie Chan in person. He was so excited , like a little boy, and gave Dombra ( traditional Kazakh instrument) to him as a present. In fact most of the other contestants are very well known in Asia, on the other hand Dimash is just a wild card and most of the people were unfamiliar with him. The man cheering him on his own in the audience and the last one seen, in the audience, is his father, a singer and song-writer. Dimash's mother is a great soprano well known in Asia also. His whole family plays various instruments. He was born in music ! Nevertheless he is awesome and one of a kind. Probably the best voice in the world.

I thought I just wanted to say something. The winners of every episode are decided by 500 people in the audience. They adored Dimash but he was up against some pretty heavy hitters. The winner Sandy Lam is a total pro at her craft and already 53 years old (attesting to her experience in showbiz and entertainment). She was great too. One man's meat is anohter man's poison, they say. Dimash and Sandy were in 'The SInger 2017'. The winner of Singer 2018 was Jessie J (yep, the one and only), so that nixes the idea of bias.
Guys you are right...It's a culture thing, you are not at all disrespectful to Dimash or his fans. In the Singer competition, the Chinese would have never allowed a foreigner to win. They did however loved Dimash and later admitted that he's the best, I.e. genius. I like your reactions, please go on and keep them natural :) Yes Dimash has true gift and after 3 years of following him (I discovered him in this, The Singer, contest in 2017) I must say he is vocal genius. He mastered all registers and all techniques, including eastern ones from Kazakhstan/Middle East/Yakutia(Siberia) connecting east with the west. Very special young man and singer. I like your remark about Bruce Lee - I read somewhere in commnents similar thing, that he is for singing what Bruce Lee was for martial arts, he was taught one thing (classical singing) and then he added all other techniques and became an absolute master, I think Dimash is on his way to it and he wil leave his mark on music and will be remembered by generations. if you want to go on with The Singer next will be Show Must Go On by Queen :) But you can also listen to Sinful Passione or Love Is Like A Dream or many others :) He has one album out called ID and wil have his first solo concert in USA in NY 10th of December this year, Barklay's Center, Brooklyn :) Greetings from Poland - Karolina
