  • Ohio State enters the 2024 football season with one of the BEST rosters in all of college football, but is this season National Championship or BUST for the Buckeyes?
    Bruce Feldman recently went on The Herd with Colin Cowherd to discuss Ohio State expectations and claimed it was National Title of Bust for Ohio State, will Ryan Day and the Buckeyes live up to the hype?

    I imagine there's a lot of pressure on Ryan Day right now. If his career really hangs on winning the national championship and that national championship depends on Will Howard...that's a lot of eggs in one basket, or like you said, pushing all the chips in.

    Their schedule sets up for a "relatively" easy path to the playoffs. I only see Oregon and Michigan (with 6 weeks between) capable of beating them in the regular season (Penn State chokes in the big games) and it's 8 HOME games. The team is loaded (as always) and they're paying to win THIS year, not next or the year after.

    First, fans all over harp on Ryan Day while cutting Myer slack because one lost to the wrong Michigan team. Myer losing to Michigan State 2X cost the Buckeyes two possible championships. The first was a loss in the B1G Championship in 2013 that gave Auburn the opportunity to square off against FSU for the championship. The second, 2015 when MSU marched into Columbus minus their starting QB and knocked OSU out of the B1G championship, thus a chance of defending their national championship (with a team that was one of the most talented in OSU history). Myer was saved by his 2014 national championship, but the Buckeyes only qualified for the CFP one other time in Myer's tenure and that was a shutout loss to Clemson. Some state that Day was born on third base for taking over a program that had not been in the CFP despite being league champions because they suffered two terrible losses to Iowa and Purdue. What will fans call Moore for taking over the three-time defending B1G champions and the national champions. Will Moore be called "born on home plate"? No, Day's biggest problem is the failure of any other B1G school (besides MSU in Myer's early years and PSU in 2016) to challenge mediocre OSU teams. If Michigan can remain in the upper echelon and PSU remains competitive, adding the former PAC schools will be great because the rest of the B1G schools have been total failures on the grid iron and nothing tells me that anything will change soon. It's not championship or bust because many still state UGA is more talented and if the two teams were to meet in the championship, the game will once again be played in Atlanta. I'd sure rather play that game in Indianapolis.

    I’m in Oregon duck fan and you forgot the most important reason as to why this is a championship or bust season.
    Following the season, Ohio State is going to lose almost everyone, And they’re not going to be in this situation again for at least two seasons, if not longer. And the other factor of Wyatts championship or bust is because of how much they’re spending on the roster they are about to lose at the end of the 2024 season.
    Ohio State media people were talking about this as they went over the college football magazines, referencing Michigan doesn’t have very many highlighted names as returning production. And they said that it is championship or bust because Ohio State will be in the exact same position next year so it’s not just my opinion. It’s very well-known TH-cam Ohio State media peoples opinion.

    I think if osu goes 8-4 which is a successful season for them, national championship is out of the question try winning 9 games this season first

    As a Michigan fan, I think they'll need to both beat Michigan AND win the natty for this season to be considered a success. If I were a Buckeye and had to pick one or the other, I'd choose the natty. However, losing to Michigan 4 years in a row would be extremely sour, especially with Harbaugh gone and a huge roster turnover.
    At the same time, beating Michigan but falling short of a title would also be massively disappointing because of their returning production and loaded roster, and because Michigan isn't expected to be as good as they have been the past few years.
    The only thing that is "optional" for Ohio State this coming season is winning the B1G title, but only if it's a close loss to Oregon or maybe Penn State. A Buckeye loss in the B1G title game that is a rematch against Michigan would be unacceptable, even if they had won the regular season matchup.

      I hate to break it to you dude. I’m just saying reality, Michigan will not beat Ohio State this year. Oregon will be the biggest challenge in this conference this season. You make it sound like they will meet again in CCG this year.

    • @hanulj531
      @hanulj531 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, I agree it's a longshot Michigan makes it to the CCG this year. But if they do and they beat Ohio, their fans would be livid. That being said, if they beat Michigan and win the natty, but lose the B1G CG to Oregon, they'd probably be ok with that.

      @@hanulj531I still think Michigan will be in the playoffs this year, not in CCG. But there’s plenty of games to be played. We’ll see what happens.

      Unlike OSU in 2022, UM got to play what many consider the second place SEC team in a truly neutral site. I think playing any SEC school in the southeast USA is a huge disadvantage. Guess where this year's national championship game will be played? If you answered anything but Atlanta, you'd be wrong.
