Can't wait to see your rim brake build or rim brake bike. It's good to see someone on TH-cam looking at the practical side of cycling. Fellow Toronto resident.
I've bought and built the rim brake version. First time building up a bike myself but pretty much the same methods as Henry uses to build it up. Cable routing is a pain. Haven't done many rides on it yet tho. The first ride felt good.
@@WilliamW97 how is the breaking like? I'd like to get the rim version myself and like the looks of most cables being hidden but concerned about how it breaks and shifts as the internal routing does odd angles which will bring friction to the system. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Breaking performance was good whilst riding it. Routing the cables, especially the rear derailleur and the brake cable are a pain and need a lot of attention when building. I have disassembled the bike again to fix my cable tension for the front derailleur. Hopefully I will have it ready after the Christmas break again. Internal cabling is a PITA for sure.
I have one too. Non eps mold. Finally assembled and already put some kilometres on it. I had that issue with squeaking seatpost. Good amount of carbon paste solves the issue. I ordered new C ring and aluminium spacers, but they are waiting for replacement. Maybe I will do that during the winter time. I'm still not sure about the hight of the handlebars. Maybe I will swap those bars for something else.
love to see the hygge frame back, I am planning on buying a carbon frame during the next year or so, but I really want a custom paint job so that might be one of the things holding me back from getting a hygge frame, good news though is that they're around 650usd or so on the hygge website, so that might be enough to convince some buyers.
Love that frame, my build is not finish yet. I have to buy the rest stuff. But now i have question, you had mechanical drivetrain earlier. Do your cables get noise when you turn your bar? I dont cut cable yet so i have hope it will be Good when i finish cut them. Sorry for bad english, i Think you’ve got me 😅
@@henrychungfitness Yeah definitely enjoying mine. Also rocking the Wheeltop group set and the shun wheels. Rode it for about 1000km so far and enjoyed every one of them.
Hello my friend did you feel a difference between the previous hygge frameset without eps and the current frameset with eps? so should you upgrade to the one with eps?
I don't feel a difference between the non-EPS and EPS version. The only thing I'd mention is the inside of the frame for the EPS version is cleaner without sharp edges, so easier to assemble with cables internally.
Hello. I have a some questions. First of all, i see that's M 52 size frame. Can you tell me some parameters? Your Height? Your leg length? Saddle heigth? Stem length (looks like 100mm)? How much cm of spacers are you installed and why? Hoping for your response.
I'm 5'11", saddle rails to bb 28", and running a 100mm stem. Everyone's body is different and everyone has different range of motion etc. Try geometrygeeks.com for bike frame sizing comparisons
Would you recommend the same frame by the rim brakes version? Everyone is saying i am crazy considering a new bike with rim Brakes in 2025 but i already have good rim brakes wheels and a rim brake groupset to go with the frame.... however still having so many doubts.
@@GreenEverAfter I think it might be difficult routing the cables internally through the handlebar and frame if you’re going rim brake. I switched over to electronic wireless groupset because it was a pain to maintain 😂
Just commented on an older video of yours. Thanks for the vids! i am about to pull the trigger on a very similar build from Ali to replace an old aluminum frame bike. Any tips or changes you would recommend? I do live in the mountains (CO) so disc might be best for my application. I see you have wireless now... looks like I have some videos to catch up on to see how the build evolved. Would love to see an updated parts list.
@@RelaxEnjoyLife thanks for watching the series! I’d say disc works for you since you’re in the mountains 👍 as for changes, I’d say mechanical is a bit difficult to maintain when you have two sets of cables each going through the integrated handlebar (which is partially why I jumped onto the Wheeltop wireless groupset). If you’re ordering a Hygge frame now, you should get the updated EPS frame which should make cable routing internally in the frame easier. Enjoy the build!
Direct mount rim brakes are best for road bike, carbon rims are a lot better than they used to be. I have no problems in UK and its always raining. Disc brakes are for mountain bikes. A lot of cycling is over hyped its just 2 wheels and 2 contact points
Currently I'm running 28mm tires, but I'm sure 30mm tires should fit as mine have plenty of room. I'm going to try to see if 32mm tires fit soon. Enjoy the ride!
Carbon is very strong, but it’s directional. The way I hit it was a freak accident, and it’s not meant to be impacted like that. 105 and rim brakes is one of the best combos 👌
@@CichyTjub I didn’t just hit it, but my other foot followed through with the pedal stroke and forced my foot to impact the seat stay further. I think it would have happened to any bike impacting a seat stay with force like that 🤷♂️

So far 32mm in the rear and 28mm in the front (32mm def doesn’t fit the front, but a 30mm might)
