I'd like to see more of the video you showed creating it and your thoughts as you go through that process. That was very helpful. I'm just trying to get myself to go through that process and struggling as it's been quite a while since playing acoustic guitar, I'm primarily a defunct upright bass player.

Emil, I can't stress enough how much I love this arrangement! It's in my head for 2 days already and it just won't get out. 😄 I also love the percussive element you built in that you also use for "Fly me to the moon" by slapping your thumb against the low e string (I believe?). Really need to learn this technique by re-watching this video multiple times. I hope I'll pick it up someday!
From the standpoint of fingerstyle guitar, this is a brilliant jazzy arrangement - wonderful, and it makes me want to instantly pick up my guitar and play along (it´s not magic, it´s just well- crafted fingerstyle). From the standpoint of the piece itself, however, it´s all wrong. "Summertime" has got lyrics; they are well-known all around the world, and they have a meaning. In the light of that meaning, the piece should be played as a meditative, slow, perhaps even mournful bluesy ballad in order to show this timeless classic the respect it deserves. There are dozens of naturally uptempo, melodious and catchy jazz standards to choose from where a swinging joyful style as used in this video would have been perfectly appropriate; here, it is definitely not. Brilliant arrangement, great playing - but thoughtless when it comes to the soul of this particular song. As a jazz vocalist once told me: "I freak out whenever I see female singers do 'Love For Sale' with a beaming smile on their faces all the time - don´t they understand at all that it´s a desperate song about the misery of prostitution? Don´t people care about the messages that songs have?" Of course, thank God, there is no law to tell you what to do and what not to do with, or to, a piece of music - art is a realm of endless freedom. But if you like a piece well enough to play it, then please respect its nature, too.
