“Noc Świętojańska” or “Noc Kupały” is a traditional Slavic holiday celebrated on the shortest night of the year, Midsummer Night (21-22 or 23-24 of June).
Traditionally girls would release a wreath in the water, with hopes that her favourite boy would catch it--a sign of good fortune and an upcoming marriage. At night, young people would gather near fires, dancing and singing.
