Forrest Gump was based on a novel too, "Forrest Gump" by Winston Groom. I didn't know that Violet Evergarden was too; dang, a missed opportunity for this video! Hope you enjoyed it and to see you for the next one!

Hi. I stumbled with your video by accident, and congratulations: it is very well made, but there are several things I wanted to point out:
You're right there are similarities between Forrest Gump and the VE series&films such that the wonderful soundtracks of both /nevertheless FG has only one original theme, while the OST of VE by Evan Call is completely original). I love both, but the one of VE is truly beautiful.
Another thing they have in common is they are considered as modern classics, and for sure, they will remain so for very long time.
Also they portray very accurately the deeds of neurodivergent persons, that at some period of their lives were soldiers, and moreover in way that is both beautiful, inspiring and very very far away from what is considered "politically correct" on these days where woke wars are rampant. FG work is inconceivable from nowadays' Holliwood, and VE is only possible as anime coming from a culture that mostly ignores the postmodernism trash so common on the West.
They are also both very effective tearjerkers, and despite that, ultimately very positive in their overall messages and besides that, they display a very humanistic view (do not confuse that with 'humanitarian')
That said, and only talking about VE, for said series I have tremendous love and appreciation, and I do not know of any other show, animated or not, that can be summarized as being overwhelmingly beautiful from start to finish. Other works from the Kyoto Animation studio such A Silent Voice or Liz and the bluebird are similar on that outlook, but the most accomplished of them is VE in my opinion.
    Un saludo

Thanks for the compliment and feedback. All I can say that it's already hard to make dramaturgical essays interesting to the masses, so I appreciate the nod that I could do much, much deeper cuts.
Every video I've put out so far has been a lesson in self editing and trying to keep on message (for both the video AND the channel), instead of just being a geek out for my sake. For my Demon Slayer video, I cut out a section about how Zenitsu is Jonathan Harker; for Encanto / Fruits Basket, it was an entire section about the book Encanto pulls themes from ("100 Years of Solitude"). This one had an entire section that I cut for time and clarity about how the Auto Memory Dolls are all named after flowers, and their outfits and behaviors reflect the Victorian love language of that flower. C'est la vie!
Hope to see you for the next ones!

I'll try your other videos. Well, heavy drama like what we see in VE is not for everyone, yet it seems it had worked pretty well into the audience. Either you like it with all your heart or you despise it. It leaves no one indifferent.
Anyway, I am a recent lover of anime, since before the COVID I only knew of the Ghibli movies (all great, and several of them masterpieces), and given that there comes out every year a whole new bunch of it, I prefer to select what seemed to be the best ones. When they succeed, they are really great.
And as many other viewers of media in the West (I'm from Spain), I feel alienated cause the wokeness and cancellation culture has taking over Holliwood, and to a lesser extent, european productions. Anime is a shelter against this, if you look carefully enough.
      Saludos

@@balpedro3602 I don't think it's necessarily wokeness that is the issue with modern media but rather the execution of including woke material in media being used primarily as a selling point for marketing with little or no effort put into writing a great story with the woke elements.
More often than not these portrayals anger everyone on both sides of the coin as one side often scorns anything with even a hint of woke material, while the other side are disappointed with the lack of substance in the material they were tricked into believing would be relatable to them and being used to line a pocket.
It's a bit reductive to blame wokeness and cancel culture when the main problem lies mainly with companies main priority being a large profit and not a lasting well written story.

    • @balpedro3602
      @balpedro3602 ปีที่แล้ว

It is right that the main problem with modern media (at least in the West) is that they feel forced to include people that please the wokes, without bothering to make the characters interesting (no matter animation or live-action). By the way, I have nothing against LGBT and the like, and I am pretty sure many of the people from these communities are upset because how poorly they are portrayed.
And in VE there is at least one lesbian relation (the one with Isabella and Violet, where Isabella is in love with Violet, but not the other way around). It's also very delicately portrayed.
