@@mylinuxforwork Noticed that you switched to SDDM from SDDM-Git as well. Looks like hyprlock/idle are working as intended. Love that the login screen also doesn't display the character every single time you enter it in. Was a pretty huge security risk tbh. Everything seems to be running smooth, with the exception that hyprlock-git seeming to want to update every few seconds. how do I go about disabling hyprlock, I just want my system unlocked permanently and not go into a "sleep mode" because I've had issues where it won't let me type in the password and I want this feature disabled
You can install the rolling release (dev branch). With 2.8.2 you can use the new Update feature in the About Menu of the ML4W settings app. After the installation you can find a Hypridle disable variation in the settings menu of the welcome app. Or just remove all listeners in this file: gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/hypridle.conf?ref_type=heads
I pressed no dpms/suspend, this should get rid of where it goes into a mode where it asks for my password and it just stays unlocked no matter what now?

Edit: I can manually get it to boot but things like the update notifier and such are not loading by default and Linux is much slower loading it this way and the welcome app takes 4 minutes to load now, windows loads just fine but Linux is giving me troubles and the Linux boot manager no longer shows up in my bios either
Pih. That’s difficult. Sounds like a decent issue on your Arch installation. Cannot help you in this case. Please check the ArchbLinux wiki. Maybe there is a way to repair your boot loader?
@@mylinuxforwork okay, thank you, I also can’t get it to load on the laptop due to WiFi not connecting right so we’ll see if I can Jerry rig the hell out of this and make it work, I still love the project and am going to try and get this working so I can keep up with this on my machine ;)
hypridle and hyprlock just dont work for me... There is not any response after locking. Now I've just returned back to swaylock again(actually it's swalock-effect-git). Will there be a way for me to choose from them later? I dont want to switch it manually every update:(
Thanks for testing. Do you have issues with hypridle or/and hyprlock? And have you tried this configuration? gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/dev/hypr/hypridle.conf?ref_type=heads
Thanks for your response! I've not tried this configuration yet. But now the problem is even when I call hyprlock from commandline, I will be stuck there and there will be no place for me to enter the password, and the system will not response to any keyboard stroke. This is the same as what happened first time I met hyprlock after update to 2.8.1@@mylinuxforwork
Swww just unable to install 4 some reason in my system, can i install hyprpaper instead, stefan
What distro are you using? On Arch I have no problem to install it with yay - S swww
Hey, I made a few personalize config on 2.8.0 dotfiles. If I update it to 2.8.1 will it erase all my previous config???
Yes. You can create a backup with the install script and copy your customizations back afterwards if needed.
Hi Stephan and good work as always 🙏 Just wondering, and I know this has nothing to do with your dotfiles. When using wlogout and trying to logout nothing happens. I have to press a key on the keyboard after to logout. I have this symptom on both my stationary and laptop. Do you or anyone else experience the same issue? I have not implemented your 2.8 dotfiles yet.
Hi. This is fixed with 2.8.1. I had to change the command to kill Hyprland to make it work again. hyprctl exit hasn't worked anymore. Maybe a temporary bug in Hyprland.
bro your desktop look is so buetiful can you share how yyou do that? ia that theme or os? share it plase
Thank you. It’s a Hyprland configuration with several additional applications like status bar, notification manager etc. When you’re on Arch based distro, you can download the files and install it with the included installation script.
When hover my mouse over a window it switches the focus to it. Is there any way to deactivate this? So all Windows have the same opacity no matter where the mouse is? Apart from that I`m really enjoying your Dotfiles, looking forward to 2.9 🤗 Thanks alot!
You can create your own decoration variation and set the active and inactive state to 1.0 gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/conf/decorations/default.conf?ref_type=heads Please check the latest video 2.8.3 and the instructions gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/dotfiles/-/blob/main/hypr/conf/README.md?ref_type=heads
@@mylinuxforwork oh ok, thank you, I will try it out!
Excuse my ignorance, i updated the dotfiles. but now my keyboard are on qwertz . could you expain to me how to change it? regards
I solved it, edit /home/youruser/dotfiles/hypr/conf/keyboard.conf and change it!!! n ¡o need to reboot system or hyper..... Regards and thanks for your work!!!
👌 great.
What's the system wide font ur using
Fira sans 👍
Hello, as a beginner I want to know how I can upgrade from your system with version 2.7.1 to 2.8.1....... I also want to thank you for your great effort and wonderful design (:
Hi. You can update to 2.8.2.1 😀 I would suggest to change to Downloads folder, remove the dotfiles folder there and clone again the latest version described on the readme. From 2.8.2 onwards you can use the new update feature of the ML4W welcome app.
@@mylinuxforwork Ok thank you I will download 2.8.2
Nice work :)! how I can prevent hyprland from going to sleep (like caffeine plugin from gnome)?
Just click on the lock symbol in Waybar.
@mylinuxforwork I clicked it, but it is still going to sleep
Im actually getting a new computer but ill tey the 2.8.1 update and see if it resolved everything. With me having to originally remove swaylock-effects im sure that replacing them will fix the problem. Ill update no matter what here in the comments though, might just be a bit
👍
@@mylinuxforwork Noticed that you switched to SDDM from SDDM-Git as well. Looks like hyprlock/idle are working as intended. Love that the login screen also doesn't display the character every single time you enter it in. Was a pretty huge security risk tbh.
Everything seems to be running smooth, with the exception that hyprlock-git seeming to want to update every few seconds. I've installed an update probably 4 times within the last 20 minutes lol and constantly have a "1" at the top of my screen for available updates.
That's the world of git packages though I guess.
@@mylinuxforwork Actually, looks like I wasn't paying attention. For some reason it's failing to install 0.1.0.r70.59997a7-1 from 0.1.0.r1.g4acf8981-1
I'll have to look into it later for now as I have a few things to attend.
@@mylinuxforwork Another heads up, in your settings script with hyprlock installed, the script still shows "Show/hide swaylock"
@@z00k already noticed. Changed already on my local dev. Goes live soon.
everything working except swww not installed therefore wallpaper now showing in hyprland
Will check. Maybe there is an update and dependencies are missing. Please try yay -S swww
how do I go about disabling hyprlock, I just want my system unlocked permanently and not go into a "sleep mode" because I've had issues where it won't let me type in the password and I want this feature disabled
Alrighty, thank you for the help, I’ll see what I can do and if I get stuck look into some documents to try and find a solution
I pressed no dpms/suspend, this should get rid of where it goes into a mode where it asks for my password and it just stays unlocked no matter what now?
Ist es möglich den lock Modus wahlweise dauerhaft zu deaktivieren?
Ja. Klick auf das Schloß Icon in Waybar oder kommentiere den hypridle Aufruf aus in der autostart.conf im hypr/conf Verzeichnis.
Great Work Stephan !! I just installed the new version on my proxmox vm and loving it. Congrats on your awesome work .. :) But my problem is, after installing xrdp, I am unable to remotely use it via rdp. always some vnc erros :( If you know the way out, kindly update me with the reso. Thanks
Thank you. I am sorry but I can’t help spontaneously. Can you check the Arch Linux wiki?
@@mylinuxforwork Thanks for a quick reply. I did check wiki, and some other support pages but couldn't figure it out yet :( Anyways Thanks for the useful dotfiles. Aprreciate the work.
Nice work
Thanks.
checked your gitlab, swaylock is still being used?
No. It's just a backup of the configuration in 2.8.1. Will be removed in 2.8.2
Is there a way I can the dotfiles folder to .dotfiles?
Hi. No. That’s currently not possible.
Hi! How to update from old version to new one?
You can find all information on the gitlab page. Clone or pull the latest version and run the install.sh script.
@@mylinuxforworkThank you!
how much memory it uses on startup ?
Hi. I see 1.14 GiB on startup. Incl. alacritty, waybar, hypridle up and running.
How do I update the sddm background?
In the ML4W welcome app is a dedicated section for sddm incl. the background update script.
@@mylinuxforwork Thank you for that, I turned off the welcome app on startup and forgot to check there, I love this project so much keep up the great work!!
@@ExcaliburYT893 thank you.
Excuse me sir, how can i change size windows screen?
Do you mean the screen resolution? Then open the settings script by clicking on the wheel icon left side in waybar, select system, monitor, and then your screen resolution and execute.
@@mylinuxforwork yes sir
@@mylinuxforwork okey sir thank you so much
Hyprlock doesn't work with my fprintd fingerprint, its really annoying any ideas ?
Great work tho, keep it up !
Maybe you can open an issue here github.com/hyprwm/hyprlock Having a fingerprint unlock would be really helpful.
@@mylinuxforworkWorked it out, turns out hyprlock doesn't yet have its own entry in Pam. It's using su of all things, but working now !
As someone who appreciates aestethics and function, but is too lazy to rice myself, you sir are a gem.
I have problem with button Apps. it doesn't work
Not sure what you mean…
@@mylinuxforwork Rofi doesn't work. I can't open apps and clipboard and change my wallpaper's. What could be the problem? I use your Hyprland Installer.
@@kukuhaplivet3468 ok. Can you check that rofi has been installed correctly? Enter yay to update your system and then yay -S rofi

Really nice dotfiles you doing amazing job. Quick question about emoji picker is there a way to add ASCII emotes support ? I love to use them but copying them from random websites it's always a chore (╥_╥)
Never tried this out. Do you know an app for that?
