The only thing that I seem to have picked up on that nobody else seems to have done is that we, as foreigners and especially Kelsey who is an actual pilot who spotted a few more problems than me as a layperson did (as it should be), were not the intended audience for that video. Outside of Pyongyang I don’t think there is even a power grid or even if there is, it’s never used. Even the comparatively wealthy upper class in Pyongyang have frequent daily power cuts. I mean, one of the factors responsible for mass hunger, malnutrition and famine is because the motorised farming equipment including the ones owned and operated by the government rarely have petrol/diesel fuel to run them. Nor do the chemical fertiliser factories have enough power for normal use. The sad truth is that most North Koreans have never seen anything fly other than the birds unless they’ve watched a few modern(ish) movies smuggled in from either China or South Korea. I’m not totally sure on this part because the information source was filmed quite a while ago so things might have changed but North Korea only has one or two aeroplanes that could be considered as commercial planes. Again I don’t know the actual number but the number of passenger seats is less than 50, and probably closer to 20. In a documentary I once watched where an older former British reporter was allowed to travel around North Korea to film a documentary whilst tightly controlled and watched by a whole team of government minders. Obviously very staged and fake but it still got a fairly decent amount of information. At one leg of the journey around the country was done by flight. The airport they stood in looked normal and modern except that it was completely and utterly empty except for various employees standing perfectly still and straight at their booths and shops. The film crew had to wait in this empty airport for hours until the weather improved and the incoming flight could land. And that was the only flight that day. Once it took off, that was it. Only the film crew, their minders and perhaps half a dozen North Koreans were the passengers. When it arrived he could tell that it was an old airplane most likely sold or given to North Korea by the Soviet Union. And that the engines didn’t sound entirely healthy. Honestly I don’t think those other North Korean civilian passengers were true passengers, either being paid or threatened to act their park to make it look like the country has a commercial aviation route like the rest of the world. So TLDR, yeah I don’t think we were the intended audience for the video. I think it was intended for the normal North Korean citizens (who despite all else will be able to get electricity to power their tvs long enough to get the propaganda from “the great leader” before the next power cut) who are so primitive, so poorly educated and so brainwashed that they couldn’t tell that the whole thing was staged and that the real actual pilot was actually doing the flying and making it look like Kim was. I don't watch much tv since I cannot stand commercial breaks that last five plus minutes so I watch a lot of TH-cam instead on layovers. Your channel is in my top five go to channels. I always love to share with the crew if I think they would be interested. I show my wife some of the Hollywood vs reality videos because when we watch a movie where it is a 747 outside, 737 cabin and a made up cockpit she tells me I am the only one who notices and no one cares so thanks for helping me win that argument lol.

I learn to fly with a ex military Pilot as my flight instructor . He was like a drill sergeant - Safety and cockpit management/sterile cockpit were his key things he emphasized everyday! He told me flying and navigate an aircraft are simple and straight forward. Being safe in the air and respond to emergencies can make you or break you..
I was thinking all along that that was what they did. Leave it physically connected so the yoke feels "weighty" (like it's doing something) while all the time it's the actual pilot flying. Reminds me of being a 70s kid, on the occasional rare flight you could visit the cabin and sit on the pilot's lap, and put your hands on the yoke. After a few minutes, you would exit the cabin and the stewardess would give you a fake captain badge. Remember, once you reach this altitude, the air density will be too low, so you never would want to overspeed. Thus, it is very important to slow down the air speed, by pulling the thrusters to idle, with flaps at 0. This is critical to avoid stalling, as you will be flying solo:) - Heh, if he knows nothing about flying, these would be the best instruction a guy can give him for coffin corner situation. If it was only that simple to achieve...

For the Kim pointing out the window and then at the screen, it could be a form of verification. Here in Japan, some jobs require people to point their finger at things to verify (like an invisible checklist) things that have been covered. I wouldn't be surprised if Japanese pilots checking instruments in a cockpit did this as a standard. I've no clue if that's what it was with Un, but it was the first thing I thought when I saw it. /Edit: The Japanese term for the pointing is called "Shisa kanko" or "Pointing and Calling". A long time ago I took a "Discovery" flight, soon after we left the ground the instructor asked "how do I like flying? and I glanced over to find him hands off the yole and arms crossed. ;-) All I thought to say was, "fine" and started leveling out at 500 feet to turn and continue to follow our flight plan. Years later I was flying a 767 static simulator and as I was lining up to land I realized the runway centerline was in front of me, not at the aircraft's center, so I jogged over and landed. The instructer asked where I learned that, I replied "video games", then was told the passengers (if there had been any) have lost their lunches.

My 172 is a 1963. Best year of the 172. First year of gross weight increase (so no “improvements and gadgets” to detract from the increase so it’s useful load is 923 pounds). Last year if the Johnson bar so flaps can instantly be extended or retracted to and position. Land, push a button like in a console parking brake, push down, and all flaps and added lift are gone thus giving better braking. And excellent for large altitude changes needed in approach. Awesome tools added to the toolbox as well as that great useful load.

As a former U.S.A.F. Crew Chief I can attest that a "pilot" pointing at random things does not project confidence.
Considering the fact that I had a hard time flying a Cessna 310Q I couldn't believe he could fly this
King Willem-Alexander has spent 21 years as a co-pilot for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, working in the cockpit twice a month - even after he acceded to the throne in 2013.
For the Kim pointing out the window and then at the screen, it could be a form of verification. Here in Japan, some jobs require people to point their finger at things to verify (like an invisible checklist) things that have been covered. I wouldn't be surprised if Japanese pilots checking instruments in a cockpit did this as a standard. I've no clue if that's what it was with Un, but it was the first thing I thought when I saw it.
/Edit: The Japanese term for the pointing is called "Shisa kanko" or "Pointing and Calling". I'll leave a couple links under this for anyone interested.

A long time ago I took a "Discovery" flight, soon after we left the ground the instructor asked "how do I like flying? and I glanced over to find him hands off the yole and arms crossed. ;-)
All I thought to say was, "fine" and started leveling out at 500 feet to turn and continue to follow our flight plan.
Years later I was flying a 767 static simulator and as I was lining up to land I realized the runway centerline was in front of me, not at the aircraft's center, so I jogged over and landed.
The instructer asked where I learned that, I replied "video games", then was told the passengers (if there had been any) have lost their lunches.

First plane I ever flew was Piper Colt. Single engine high wing, no flaps. Never liked it.
My 172 is a 1963. Best year of the 172. First year of gross weight increase (so no “improvements and gadgets” to detract from the increase so it’s useful load is 923 pounds). Last year if the Johnson bar so flaps can instantly be extended or retracted to and position. Land, push a button like in a console parking brake, push down, and all flaps and added lift are gone thus giving better braking. And excellent for large altitude changes needed in approach.
