    Thank you again, Josh--just watching your breakdown of the Cardinal game.
    Always such a great, new, unseen angle on these games.
    As I think about it, there are SO FEW games each year...it is no wonder everyone loves to see each play (again) as a way to enjoy each game as much as possible.

    Actually it was Kyle Brandt who coined the term "Bot" Purdy. :) I agree, the Cardinals are the best 1-3 team in the NFL. They are building a 49er-esque team with great physicality. I have a feeling that the late season match-up with Arizona is going to be a battle of winning teams. Anyway...moving on....to DALLAS! CAN NOT WAIT!

    Purdy’s recognition, accuracy, and footwork are elite. He’s only had a handful of practice reps working with his weapons. It means we are looking at a ridiculously high floor. It also means we have not seen even a glimpse of his ceiling. His command of this layered offense is going to raise everybody’s play, even the defense. It’s football, and nothing is sure, but right now all arrows are pointed up.

    Great video breakdown of the details and wrinkles, as always, Josh. While everyone was rightly yelling about CMC, Purdy, and Aiyuk in the 24 hrs after the game, I appreciate that you pointed out an anonymous player like WR#83 Willie Snead, helping the team out with a couple of unexpected, solid blocks. The behind-the-scenes sideline and locker room chatter shows that this is a true team that supports everyone else up and down the roster. Shanahan, Lynch, and others have been smart to hire/manage based on talent AND personality, so that egos don't get in the way of performing every week, whether you get the ball in your hands or not. So much fun to watch (and watch again with your videos)!

We are going to see a tough fight this Monday with Brock Purdy not giving his best numbers performance but his best leadership performance. We are going to see his arm getting to peak yet it will be a tough fight. Dallas is going to play above expectations yet Niners will overcome by 5 points.

    Meant to add earlier...
    When I watched it live, and when I watched it later---I was completely confident that Purdy threw that bomb to Aiyuk to keep him open, not get him attempting a catch in double coverage. Just amazing. Amazing grab on Aiyuk's part, but also Purdy to move him out of harm's way. Just brilliant. So glad you suggested as much in your breakdown, Josh. I was already thinking of you when I first heard of his "underthrowing" Aiyuk from other observers--who got it wrong. :D

    Ok one more thing. Maybe others are thinking it but I'm going to say it. The offense was scoring at a faster tempo than I'm accustomed to. Was this maybe putting the defense back on the field more quickly? Maybe they didn't have as much time to recoup and didn't have the gas for a stop on that 99 yard drive. Is it just me or was the time of possession helping the Cardinals in the second half?

    • @JoshBreakdowns
      @JoshBreakdowns  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Cardinals put together some long drives but I don't seem to recall the defense tiring out too much during the game. Maybe the long layoff before the game helped.

    There's a few notable observations this week. The Cardinals are well coached and will be a force for the league to contend with. Few teams play with the same brand as the Shanahan Sourdough Soldiers. They are physical, fight for extra yards, and deliver punishment in each match-up of each play, all eleven of them. You don't see that on every other team but I am seeing that notably from the Chiefs, Dolphins, and the Lions as well this season. Eagle have a bit of a diva situation with AJ Brown but he's an assassin too. Other teams have a few people jogging on every play rather than full speed.Don't get me started on the Bears. The Niners have some joggers here and there but the brand is well preserved for the most part.

    For a team that pundits thought would go 0-17, the Cardinals are a frisky as hell team. If they nail the 2024 draft, they'll be a pain in the ass (again). I think even this year the cards can win 7-8 games despite their apparent lack of talent.

    Great comments on ALL the notes I had. Hard to criticize such a well played game. Cudos to the Cardinals for those two touchdowns, temporarily getting past the excellent SF defence, but of course, the guys adjusted and shut them down again. • None of the critics can fault Brock on his long passes anymore, the ANTICIPATION he needs to hit those throws to Ayouk shows PREPARATION and PRACTICE. Saw an interview with Julian Edelmen the other day, where he talked about how MUCH he practiced with Brady to achieve their chemistry. Brock, likewise puts in the work with his receivers, and IT SHOWS! A joy to watch these games. Go Niners! 🤠

    Another top shelf break down Mr. Putnam. Let's all take a moment and realize that right now it looks like the opponent needs to find a way to take Brock Purdy out of the game in order to defeat him. That's the only way. All that a defense can do is break itself against the Brock and that Brock is too much.

    First off: These 49ers look utterly dominant in a way I haven't seen in a few years.
    That being said, that throw to Aiyuk behind the safety was a massive gamble that isn't likely to work against a veteran safety. Hopefully he doesn't try something like that again later in the season, but he might be throwing into a safety's hands.

    • @JoshBreakdowns
      @JoshBreakdowns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree in the sense that it's always risky to throw into double coverage deep down the middle of the field, but the safety was clearly in a difficult position. After the game Brock called this an "Opportunity Ball". In my viewpoint I tend to think his reasoning was sound and he led Aiyuk to the right spot. I tend to prefer this over, say, other deep shots QBs take vs 1 defender in a solid position for what is essentially a 50/50 ball.
      On a more personal note I like that we're being more aggressive down field, and I think we both agree that Brock will have to exercise his judgement and make careful determinations about where and when it's acceptable to take those risks based on the game situation.

  • @bongsangkim
    @bongsangkim ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you again. I cannot deny niners' schedule until week 4 was easy. Now real battles start from this week. Cowboys, Browns, and Vikings. But I am very confident that niners will continue playing high level both offensively and defensively. I just wish we had a little bit upgrade on left corner back. Other that that, we don't have any weakness.

    • @JoshBreakdowns
      @JoshBreakdowns  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I agree, the 49ers have a very well rounded roster. The next four games will be tough, but after that we have a Bye. To me the Monday Night game at Minnesota is an interesting one. The Vikings are struggling this year, but Minnesota remains a difficult place for teams to play. The 49ers haven't won at Minnesota since 1992, over 30 years ago!! And Cleveland is also trying to emerge as a stronger team, and will be eager to test themselves against the apparent League best 49ers. So the Week 5-6-7 stretch will show us a lot.
      After that the next most difficult stretch appears to be Week 12-13-14, when the 49ers are forced to play their second Thursday Night game this year, in Seattle against an improved Seahawks team. Then the team travels to the hostile environment of Philadelphia for probably the biggest game this season, before returning home to play Seattle again for the second time in three weeks.
      If the 49ers can emerge from these two crucial three game stretches with, say, two total losses (winning two out the three contests each time), they should be in an excellent position to push for the #1 seed and a first round Bye at the end of the season 🤞🤞

    @ScotteM ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Josh, how ya been? I've been pretty happy overall this last month 🤔 trying to pinpoint why, hmmm?
    I got three points on this game:
    A. At 1:45 ish on your video, Trent Williams had an opportunity to absolutely ANNIHILATE the defender on a block for that cmc flick and run....but he didnt. He made the block but held back from full contact and I watched it live and remember thinking what a smart move. It could have derailed that first successful drive. You know deep down Trent wanted to make that guy rethink his career choice.
    2. At around 8:05, the cmc pass and run for td with hurdle was kind of effortless. I mentioned this on another YT short but it looked kinda easy. He doesn't even look at the guy he hurdles, then he made the defender at the goal line look like he didnt even really try to tackle him. Ive seen the run from multiple angles and its crazy how fluid that entire play was. CMC is beyond different.
    And D. 27:05 that Dime you mentioned was a nearly 50 YARD IN AIR DIME on the $. I dont ever wanna hear about no long game from BP from anyone!
    Josh you continue to be "highlight" of my week and I'm always happy to get that notification. You might always say thank you, but I am grateful for your efforts.
    I think our 2 biggest challenges this year are against the NFC east and we have one this weekend. We'll see ya Friday!

      I think the team is extremely well coached in regards to the blocking. How many times have we seen them let up so they don't get a hold or an illegal block in the back? CMC reminds me of how some pianists look like they're just gently touching the keys; he is SO smooth! And I agree with you, I think Purdy has silenced his last detractors with such a strong passing game downfield.
      And thank you for the words of encouragement, it is really meaningful and truly appreciated 🙏🙏

      Post the timestamp. That's something we might take a look at on the Friday Show 👍👍

      Kittle did win, but CMC was the first read and he was open, so Brock let it go.

      It’s the play at 2:50 - you mention the single safety taking away the post for Kittle, but Kittle bends the stem of his route out and is completely unmarked in the end zone.

      @@AndrewArdill dont disagree, just think Brock is too comfortable with CMC that he’s not looking at better options.

      @@ninh05maybe, but this play doesn’t show that. Brock would have had to see this pre snap to go to Kittle, or have CMC covered to move on in his progression. One of the things we like about Brock is that he gets the ball out to his first read if they’re open. He reads it quickly and executes the play.
      Kittle was open because the safety slid to the other side of the field, and the linebacker sat down. Neither of those things were obvious pre snap, so Brock never had a chance to see it.
