Singing on the other hand has much fewer words, and melody masks accent very well, so singing it is.

to answer your comparison between Dalla Dalla and Fancy: one of the major flaws Kpop has recently is overproduction. Kpop songs nowadays have been overproduced so much that it is really difficult to listen compared Kpop in its golden age (2007-2013), especially boy groups songs. And that's what is different between Dalla x2 and Fancy. Dalla Dalla is heavily produced, the chorus itself has too many layers of production: too many kicks, percussions happening at one time, the number of beats with a second is also rushed, and the trap element in the chorus is only makes the matter worse. Thankfully, the vocals are enough to carry its melody. That's what made Fancy work on so many levels: it is simple but worked perfectly and went back to the old root of Disco. There are only like 2-4 layers of production within the chorus: the dominant sounds are the kicks, the synth, the rest is just occassional sound effects. It totally complemented the vocals and the melody of the song. Fancy is not a ground-breaking production but a nostalgic one and among all the overproduced Kpop songs nowadays, Fancy turned out to be a refreshing one. Sadly Feel Special also suffered from overproduction and weird composition. The transition between verse and pre-chorus is unconventional. The main synth of Feel Special is super catchy but it is distracted by numerous layers added to it, and the except for Jihyo, the other members can't fully standout the chorus vocally, especially Sana So I agree with people: Dalla Dalla is a mess and despite that, I love it

I don’t hear the resemblance between Fancy and Dalla Dalla... Honestly I love Dalla Dalla but I think it’s overall a messy song because it has quite a few key changes and whenever they stick to a key for a while they use notes that don’t fit in that key which makes it sound unpredictable and a little weird. That’s why it takes a few listens to kinda understand the song. However, Fancy sticks to one key and although the beat changes, the speed of the song stays the same (except for jihyo’s high note where they use a fermata) which makes it sound way more like one song in my opinion

You can’t compare dalla dalla to fancy I love dalla dalla but the truth is dalla dalla has so many layers to it that the vocals ended up being a side effect and it was jumping from one sound to the next. Fancy had a consistent two sounds that meshed together well and while it was a very manufactured sound it stayed true to the modern disco pop sound it was going for. Calling fancy a mess would be a complete lapse in judgment. You need a musical ear to hear and understand that while the two songs are both great they can not compare

About your comparison between dalla dalla and fancy : I didn't notice before this, but now that you mention it, fancy also has a lot of layers, maybe as much as dalla dalla. However, I think the sounds used in fancy are just a lot more pleasing to the ear, as opposed to the constant cowbells or ringing sounds in dalla dalla. Fancy is just a more melodious song. I actually like dalla dalla, but I can see why people would like fancy and not dalla dalla.

“Is Momo part of the rap line?” Jury’s still out. I feel like there just isn’t enough space for 3 rappers in Twice currently so they put Momo (and sometimes Chaeyoung, even though she’s the main rapper but she’s a stronger vocalist than Dahyun so they leave Dahyun rapping) as vocalists. Momo had rap training and you can we her spitting some fire during Sixteen (PINK LAMBORGHINI!) and Do It Again, then they kind of didn’t know what to do with her rapping skills and tried to keep rapper Momo around with Signal, but then she kind of went missing besides a few appearances on B-sides. If the time comes where Twice has a hip-hop oriented concept and there’s enough space for 3 rappers in the lineup, she’ll definitely be considered a part of rap line. For now I consider her as a hidden part of rap line.
Rain Rain Dahyun has really improved. She has better stamina and her flow got better. The only problem is that her voice tone is very soft for rapping but it works with her rap parts. Momo doesn’t have a great stamina (although she improved in singing) and I personally don’t think Momo’s current voice suit well with rapping . Dahyun is better of a rapper than Momo .
I wasn't my favourite Twice song but here's my opinions: 1) Chaeyoung's outfits were the best ones. 2) The chorus doesn't sound like a twice song because their other songs have a full on chorus, idk how to explain it but their other choruses are more full? 3) I don't like Sana's so lovely line either. 4) Fancy isn't the hardest dance. Overall I like the song but I can't listen to it on repeat like other twice songs. I don't like the backdrops, it's not something i'm used to seeing from Twice because their other songs take place in a specific location and I don't understand whats happening in the fancy but it was visually pleasing to look at.
That "Fancy" and "Dalla Dalla" comparison was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.... Fancy drew hordes of (new) people towards Twice. The same people that were kinda meh about Twice, went crazy for Fancy.
Fancy was more visually and musically smooth and appealing then Dalla Dalla imo. My theory is that Fancy is supposed to look crazy and over animated, like a simulation of some sort, and In the end you can see them glitching out like the simulation is ending (it's funny you mentioned the sims 3). Idk why I was recommended this. But love the video editing quality and also disagree with almost all your opinions on this song 😂. Fancy was and still is the ultimate bop for me. Twice’s best comeback because of it combining everything they excel at like Catchy Dances, soft vocals, visuals, and not to mention it was the best medium for them to transition into a more mature or sexy concept. Then we got Feel Special which was another step in that direction.

I was never a Twice fan, but Feel Special snagged me. And I've listened to every song, been there for every come back and I think the members are all great. But I just don't like their music. I expected that I was going to like Fancy and I was so excited to finally like something from Twice. Then it came out and I was really underwhelmed. Then Feel Spcial came out and it was everything I wanted Fancy to be. Feel Special is my bread and butter. I listen to it everyday.

Okay Fancy was top 10 of my favorite songs of 2019. However I think Fancy was another bridge to TWICE's fully mature concept (Breakthrough was the their official mature comeback to me). JYP was still playing in way too safe with Fancy, the pre chorus is the typical TWICE's pre chorus sound with 1/2 steps, 1/3 steps beats to build up to the chorus. Personally if I were to make some adjustments to the song, I'd lower the key of the song. Breakthrough was in a rather middle range of sopranos, and that automatically makes TWICE's vocals sound much more mature. Also, I'd utilize Jeongyeon for the chorus along side with Nayeon and Jihyo. Ideally I'd go as far as replacing Nayeon with Jeongyeon in the chorus with Jihyo since Jeongyeon has that mature sassy vocal tone that TWICE seriously needs in order to change their sound, but since Nayeon is lead vocal/dancer and center, it'd make more sense to rotate them 3 in the chorus lines.

Dalla dalla and fancy got a lot of the same sound effects in their songs and makes it sound like they used the same base for the songs and i never noticed cuz i always listen to just the vocals and now I’m asking myself how could i miss it? I completely disagree with you about the song itself. I'm not a Twice fan, but this is the first song by them I've listened to where I haven't been annoyed and/or bored/underwhelmed. I think it's genuinely a fun song and I can't stop smiling while listening to it (the choreo is fun also), and I'm so glad they toned down their cute concept. I usually enjoy cute concepts, but they were way too much for way too long.
Super late to this but I think the reason dalla dalla is ‘messy’ (at least for me) is the backing track. The voices and other structure may be similar but the backing track to dalla dalla is to me, for lack of a better word, noisy. Like random noises that change all the time and I feel like they don’t really fit and they just feel weird in relation to the song. I always feel like I never know what’s happening in dalla dalla in the background. I almost picture them having the song and then someone with a sound board just starting hitting a bunch of buttons and adding random noises and dings and stuff just periodically. Whereas fancy at least has a consistent backing track with similar sounds throughout all of it that I feel helps tie the song together. Like don’t get me wrong, fancy is not my favorite twice song but that’s kinda the way I view the difference between the two.

Other people already explained why it's pretty clear why Dalla Dalla feels like a mess vs this song. This song structure and dalla dalla's isn't even particularly crazy, in fact Yes of Yes has a crazier song structure than both of those, but it's a very clear song production issue. Dalla Dalla is extremely busy and this song isn't.
I think Fancy was a really great song. It was a burst of fresh air and a more toned down cuteness. The actual song was my favourite part and the outfits were good except for the yellow and pink scene. Dahyun was the only member wear a completely different outfit there and when I noticed it I was thrown off. Dalla Dalla is a completely different song to fancy they don't even have the same vibe. Dalla Dalla felt scrambled together and it took more than one listen to catch what was going on in that song, Fancy was a lot smoother and put together than Dalla Dalla. Which kinda went well with Twice becoming more mature and Itzy being more fun and rebel all-over-the-place youth.
I think that with Dalla Dalla, it doesn't matter how overprocessed it was, it depends on how good it is to listen to.. Like how many rookie groups don't sound very good to a vocal coach, but many people listen to their voice because it sounds nice. That's it. I mean, many vocal coaches say that compared to other groups bts has a mediocre vocal line, but they have so many fans of their vocals because it's pleasing to listen to, or how people don't like the sound of classically trained opera singers..
for me, i can easily pick out the background music for fancy but for dalla dalla there are extra sound effects in the instrumental that randomly come in

Agreed on all points. The highlight of the song are the rap lines. Everything else just rides off that momentum. It’s loud and messy, the way Dalla Dalla was. It’s enjoyable but I don’t love it. Knock knock is by far twice’s song - especially the MV version with the instrumental interlude. Their title songs have definitely become more about aesthetic and dance than song recently. I suspect they are trying to corner the market for kpop lovers who are in it for the aesthetic and dance and take advantage of their not being much competition for them now. But I think overall what makes twice great is the amount of material they put out and their ability to not miss the mark by too wide a margin. They are being managed well and have at this point put so much distance between themselves and any other girl group that I think it’s okay for them to experiment a bit.

Momo is part of the rap line. But she is not a lead or main rapper, she is just a rapper. I think why Jyp does not make her her rap is because she is “faking her voice” and so it would not fit her fake voice and make her rap in her real voice. But we do get a rap from Momo and Mina in Signal. In the end she is part of the rap line but Jyp does not want her to rap.

Fancy has like smooth connections. And dalla dalla has so much CG and it felt like it was big mess
You can’t compare dalla dalla to fancy I love dalla dalla but the truth is dalla dalla has so many layers to it that the vocals ended up being a side effect and it was jumping from one sound to the next. Fancy had a consistent two sounds that meshed together well and while it was a very manufactured sound it stayed true to the modern disco pop sound it was going for. Calling fancy a mess would be a complete lapse in judgment. You need a musical ear to hear and understand that while the two songs are both great they can not compare

About your comparison between dalla dalla and fancy : I didn't notice before this, but now that you mention it, fancy also has a lot of layers, maybe as much as dalla dalla. However, I think the sounds used in fancy are just a lot more pleasing to the ear, as opposed to the constant cowbells or ringing sounds in dalla dalla. Fancy is just a more melodious song. I actually like dalla dalla, but I can see why people would like fancy and not dalla dalla.

“Is Momo part of the rap line?” Jury’s still out. I feel like there just isn’t enough space for 3 rappers in Twice currently so they put Momo (and sometimes Chaeyoung, even though she’s the main rapper but she’s a stronger vocalist than Dahyun so they leave Dahyun rapping) as vocalists. Momo had rap training and you can we her spitting some fire during Sixteen (PINK LAMBORGHINI!) and Do It Again, then they kind of didn’t know what to do with her rapping skills and tried to keep rapper Momo around with Signal, but then she kind of went missing besides a few appearances on B-sides. If the time comes where Twice has a hip-hop oriented concept and there’s enough space for 3 rappers in the lineup, she’ll definitely be considered a part of rap line. For now I consider her as a hidden part of rap line.
But she's a better rapper than Dahyun, Dahyun with her soft voice suits to be a sub vocal more, she mayby worse, but I think that would be better
Rain Rain Dahyun has really improved. She has better stamina and her flow got better. The only problem is that her voice tone is very soft for rapping but it works with her rap parts. Momo doesn’t have a great stamina (although she improved in singing) and I personally don’t think Momo’s current voice suit well with rapping . Dahyun is better of a rapper than Momo .
Fancy = SOTY.
I wasn't my favourite Twice song but here's my opinions:
1) Chaeyoung's outfits were the best ones.
2) The chorus doesn't sound like a twice song because their other songs have a full on chorus, idk how to explain it but their other choruses are more full?
3) I don't like Sana's so lovely line either.
4) Fancy isn't the hardest dance.
Overall I like the song but I can't listen to it on repeat like other twice songs. I don't like the backdrops, it's not something i'm used to seeing from Twice because their other songs take place in a specific location and I don't understand whats happening in the fancy but it was visually pleasing to look at.

Fancy was more visually and musically smooth and appealing then Dalla Dalla imo. My theory is that Fancy is supposed to look crazy and over animated, like a simulation of some sort, and In the end you can see them glitching out like the simulation is ending (it's funny you mentioned the sims 3). Fancy also has a more mature feel to the song and MV. Dalla Dalla looks and sounds all over the place because I guess it was supposed to appeal to younger people. I think JYP did a better job in ICY with organizing the song and MV accordingly for Itzy. But it's not a Twice vs Itzy thing. One song is clearly better than the other and that's okay.

Idk why I was recommended this. But love the video editing quality and also disagree with almost all your opinions on this song 😂. Fancy was and still is the ultimate bop for me. Twice’s best comeback because of it combining everything they excel at like Catchy Dances, soft vocals, visuals, and not to mention it was the best medium for them to transition into a more mature or sexy concept. Then we got Feel Special which was another step in that direction.

I was never a Twice fan, but Feel Special snagged me. And I've listened to every song, been there for every come back and I think the members are all great. But I just don't like their music. I expected that I was going to like Fancy and I was so excited to finally like something from Twice. Then it came out and I was really underwhelmed. Then Feel Spcial came out and it was everything I wanted Fancy to be. Feel Special is my bread and butter. I listen to it everyday.

Fancy is pure ear candy, Itzy singing it would have been just as good. You pointed out a lot of similarities but Fancy is much more infectious.
Okay Fancy was top 10 of my favorite songs of 2019. However I think Fancy was another bridge to TWICE's fully mature concept (Breakthrough was the their official mature comeback to me). JYP was still playing in way too safe with Fancy, the pre chorus is the typical TWICE's pre chorus sound with 1/2 steps, 1/3 steps beats to build up to the chorus. Personally if I were to make some adjustments to the song, I'd lower the key of the song. Breakthrough was in a rather middle range of sopranos, and that automatically makes TWICE's vocals sound much more mature. Also, I'd utilize Jeongyeon for the chorus along side with Nayeon and Jihyo. Ideally I'd go as far as replacing Nayeon with Jeongyeon in the chorus with Jihyo since Jeongyeon has that mature sassy vocal tone that TWICE seriously needs in order to change their sound, but since Nayeon is lead vocal/dancer and center, it'd make more sense to rotate them 3 in the chorus lines.
I disagree with many of your points about the song but you're still the best Twice analyst on TH-cam.

Dalla dalla and fancy got a lot of the same sound effects in their songs and makes it sound like they used the same base for the songs and i never noticed cuz i always listen to just the vocals and now I’m asking myself how could i miss it? The sad thing is that this shows again that a lot of kpop songs are the same lately even jyp tries to make everything sound like all the other songs on the charts because it is doing well. I completely disagree with you about the song itself. I'm not a Twice fan, but this is the first song by them I've listened to where I haven't been annoyed and/or bored/underwhelmed. I think it's genuinely a fun song and I can't stop smiling while listening to it (the choreo is fun also), and I'm so glad they toned down their cute concept. I usually enjoy cute concepts, but they were way too much for way too long.

Super late to this but I think the reason dalla dalla is ‘messy’ (at least for me) is the backing track. The voices and other structure may be similar but the backing track to dalla dalla is to me, for lack of a better word, noisy. Like random noises that change all the time and I feel like they don’t really fit and they just feel weird in relation to the song. I always feel like I never know what’s happening in dalla dalla in the background. I almost picture them having the song and then someone with a sound board just starting hitting a bunch of buttons and adding random noises and dings and stuff just periodically. Whereas fancy at least has a consistent backing track with similar sounds throughout all of it that I feel helps tie the song together. Like don’t get me wrong, fancy is not my favorite twice song but that’s kinda the way I view the difference between the two.

Other people already explained why it's pretty clear why Dalla Dalla feels like a mess vs this song. This song structure and dalla dalla's isn't even particularly crazy, in fact Yes of Yes has a crazier song structure than both of those, but it's a very clear song production issue. Dalla Dalla is extremely busy and this song isn't.
I think Fancy was a really great song. It was a burst of fresh air and a more toned down cuteness. The actual song was my favourite part and the outfits were good except for the yellow and pink scene. Dahyun was the only member wear a completely different outfit there and when I noticed it I was thrown off. Dalla Dalla is a completely different song to fancy they don't even have the same vibe. Dalla Dalla felt scrambled together and it took more than one listen to catch what was going on in that song, Fancy was a lot smoother and put together than Dalla Dalla. Which kinda went well with Twice becoming more mature and Itzy being more fun and rebel all-over-the-place youth.

I think that with Dalla Dalla, it doesn't matter how overprocessed it was, it depends on how good it is to listen to.. Like how many rookie groups don't sound very good to a vocal coach, but many people listen to their voice because it sounds nice. That's it. I mean, many vocal coaches say that compared to other groups bts has a mediocre vocal line, but they have so many fans of their vocals because it's pleasing to listen to, or how people don't like the sound of classically trained opera singers..
for me, i can easily pick out the background music for fancy but for dalla dalla there are extra sound effects in the instrumental that randomly come in

Agreed on all points. The highlight of the song are the rap lines. Everything else just rides off that momentum. It’s loud and messy, the way Dalla Dalla was. It’s enjoyable but I don’t love it. Knock knock is by far twice’s song - especially the MV version with the instrumental interlude. Their title songs have definitely become more about aesthetic and dance than song recently. I suspect they are trying to corner the market for kpop lovers who are in it for the aesthetic and dance and take advantage of their not being much competition for them now.
But I think overall what makes twice great is the amount of material they put out and their ability to not miss the mark by too wide a margin. They are being managed well and have at this point put so much distance between themselves and any other girl group that I think it’s okay for them to experiment a bit.
i get why you say the visual scenes seem deliberately separated, sana looks amazing in her scene, same for Chaeyoung she looks amazing too, i just love her little oohs, so cute, so yes i agree but that apart, this is one of my all time favourites, for me lyrically and visually, its brilliant and for me an all round well put together song, i actually play it every morning cos it kind of lifts my spirits, makes me smile and feel happy inside so,

Momo is part of the rap line. But she is not a lead or main rapper, she is just a rapper. I think why Jyp does not make her her rap is because she is “faking her voice” and so it would not fit her fake voice and make her rap in her real voice. But we do get a rap from Momo and Mina in Signal. In the end she is part of the rap line but Jyp does not want her to rap.
