    Bonnie Raitt is known for Blues, that's how she became well known. She's played with all the great Blues Musicians like BB King, John Lee Hooker and many, many more. All the Blues people and all the rockers know and love her, her incredible voice & her slide guitar (one of the best) are highly respected. She's one of the musical Queens. She's been famous since very young but hit the BIG time in the later 80s and won a ton of Grammy's. She does a bunch of charity work & supports a Blues musicians' retirement home etc.

    HOORAY!!!! Young Bonnie!! You see why I was always begging you to listen to early Bonnie where she let her guitar-playing star. The title song on this album "Give It Up Or Let Me Go" is also killer. There is also a cool duet with Sippie Wallace (an old blues woman with an amazing history of her own). The song they play "Women Be Wise" was written by Sippie in 1938 and performed across Europe.

    now you guys know that Bonnie Raitt is and has always been considered "The Godmother of Blues," by the public and music critics in the 70's & 80's. She is and was tied to the Blues community along B.B. King and Muddy Waters and one of the few women that made a lot of Blues music to Blues audiences. So, she wasn't commercial until the 80's where she put out a hit, "Let's give Them Something To Talk About." Most of the public did not know who she was until that song. Growing up in a Black home...I knew...lol...

    • @jenniferfoster1692
      @jenniferfoster1692 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Yes to all this! She's always been Blues to me, even in her 80s stuff it was Blues based. I don't consider her country at all, I think people just think her slide guitar sounds country. And she does do Americana music these days, which is a folksy mix of stuff, but still not country, to me at least, lol.

    Bonnie is a blues artist who has expanded into other realms. She plays a mean slide guitar and has a great sense of humor. Saw her in '87 without the full band. This is early Bonnie from her second album when she was only 22. She did an acoustic Sippy Wallace blues song on her first album called Woman Be Wise and her own composition The Road's My Middle Name to close out her Nick Of Time album. There are so many more to explore. For a fun one check out Papa Come Quick.

    Going to see Bonnie perform live in Seattle next month. Can't wait!! Most people who are somewhat familiar with her don't even realize that she is heavy into the blues and is widely recognized as one of the best slide guitarists around.

    Just give Bonnie her guitar and her voice, and she will entertain the mess out of you. I agree with some others , that this song only got better with age

    Love me some Bonnie and heard her live when she was just starting to take off. Back then she performed as a duo Bonnie on guitar and Freebo on bass. Then heard her a number of times in concert since then, she's one of my favorites.

    She was a blues artist to begin with, she went crossover in the '80s just because that's how she could still stay relevant I guess.
