Do yourselves a huge favor and watch the greatest 20 minutes in music history, Queen’s Live Aid performance in 1985. Freddie has 100,000 people in the palm of his hand. It is glorious.
Queen did this song during their performance at Live Aid.It's a 20 minute video ya'll might not have a lot of time for, watch the whole video, but it is the greatest performance in rock history,if ya'll do it 2 parts.Well worth it
Saw Queen on Freddie's birthday at Wembley during The Works tour. We all sang Happy Birthday to him and he was literally speechless for a good few minutes. I can look back and take that memory with me.
I get the impression you tend to think Freddie was the group’s songwriter. This is a Brian May song. And every member of Queen wrote major hits for the band.
As many others have said...WATCH THE QUEEN SEGMENT OF LIVE-AID FROM 1985. It is the greatest 20 minutes of live music ever captured on video. This song also features in the film Highlander and the Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
I was lucky to see 16 Queen concerts and the most I paid for a ticket was $15. They always had great opening acts as they were never afraid to follow anyone on stage. One of the best openers I saw was Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band opening for them on the Night At The Opera tour. Still one of my all time favorite concerts. Queen brought it every night and Freddie knew how to hold an audience in the palm of his hand.
I saw Queen live in 1977 on their "A Day at the Races" tour. It was my first live concert & I was only 14 years old! What a great premier to a long stream of live shows, & hard act to follow. Love & light from The UK.
This song is one that must be played with the volume at 11. My favourite Queen song! Best line: For we who grew up tall and proud in the shadow of the mushroom cloud, convinced our voices can't be heard, we just wanna scream it louder and louder!
@@Kevin.King71 Yes i agree, i normlly don't like live versions of songs as the band or singer tend to do too much but with Queen, their live performances are brilliant, plus you can't beat Brian May's guitar solos, wish they were in the studio version as well.
@@stevenmather6276 Are you sure? Because i searched their queen reactions before commenting and couldn't find the video, the closest i came to was band aid.
I'm telling ya'll to watch "HIGHLANDER " Music by Queen, they did the soundtrack to the whole movie. Just happens this song is on the soundtrack...please it's a must watch. The cinematography is top tier!!!
1 singer, 3 musicians, nothing but pure talent. No gimmicks. Queen's Live Aid performance is the best rock show of all time. I can't imagine anything ever toping it.
Try Hammersmith ´75, Montreal ´81 , Milton Keynes ´82, Rainbow ´74, Earl´s Court ´77, Hyde Park ´76, Budokan ´75, Wembley´86, all far better tha Live Aid, in my opinion.
I'm old enough that I could have seen Queen in concert when Freddie was still alive (I was 23 when he passed in 1991), and they were my favorite band from my early teens-onward. It's one of the great regrets of my life that I never did....

That's one of my proudest things. I saw Queen five times between '77 and '82, including twice in '77 for two different tours. (Day at the Races and News of the World. Haircut culture shock.) Hi Jay and Amber, This was released in 1984 and is from their album The Works, It also features on Greatest Hits 2 , Hammer To Fall was written by guitarist Brian May 😄😄🎸🎸 RIP Freddie 🙏🙏
I love you guys. I’m 74 and listened to Queen on the radio, but never saw them in person. I was a nerdy teenager, twenty something with very little money. It was great to hear them on the radio and buy the singles though.❤
Yes I saw Queen, fall 1979, I was a senior in high school. It was an unbelievable concert. I still remember the experience. I have 2 regrets, one of my all time favorites "Radio Gaga" had not yet been released and the 2nd was I never got another chance to see them. I know I am just being greedy 😁. Thank you for the reaction and smile today 💜.
I, too, got to see Queen up in g SF Bay Area, twice. Each concert was different. every time was a dynamite show left me exhausted and totally satisfied, yet somehow wishing for more. Seeing Freddy come back from intermission riding on the shoulders of a "Darth Vader" was definitely a trip, and the intermission section was all Brian May playing solo and covering the entire stage with the corner of the stage being ramps that almost allowed him to jump into the seats of the upper deck of Oakland Coliseum.
This and Bohemian Rhapsody are my probably my favourite Queen tracks. Apart from the brilliant musicianship and Freddie’s amazing stage presence what I love about them is that all their songs are so different . Keep up the good work guys I love your channel Phil
I am the one that didn’t realise how lucky I was to see them live in concert. I was volunteering at Wembley Stadium when they played there in 1986 but was into a totally different music genre at the time so never stayed for the whole concert. My biggest regret to this day.
I was lucky enough to see Queen twice in Detroit 1978 (Jazz Tour at Cobo Hall) and 1980 (Hot Space Tour at Joe Louis Arena). I was 18 years old back then and had no idea the impact rock music/bands were going to have on people. They were amazing live. This music is still relevant today and now I'm a senior citizen. I was lucky enough to see a lot of bands along the way including the great Led Zeppelin. They don't make music like this anymore. BTW Billy Squire was the backup band with Queen in 1980 and tickets were probably are $10-15. Keep rocking guys.
First time I went to a Queen concert, the ticket set me back 17 1/2 guilders (this was in 1977, way before the euro was introduced). I saw them a total of 8 times in the 70s and 80s; then came back to them in 2017, with Adam Lambert on vocals, and ticket prices of 80 euros or more. By the way, Hammer to Fall and Who Wants to Live Forever were both composed by Brian May.
Written by Brian May. It appeared in the Highlander, all Queen songs, but was the only existing Queen song used. Jay mentions Who Wants To Live Forever (another Brian May song) appeared at a climactic moment in The Highlander. (sorry, no spoiler why)
I saw Queen at the old Wembley Stadium in 1986, on the Magic Tour. The wife and I started to leave the concert early in order to catch the bus home. As we did the encore started, and I will always remember the sight from the top of the stairs as the band started to play Radio Gaga. Everybody in the stadium, people on the terraces, in the seats, and on the pitch, all clapping together, hands above their heads. What a performance.
Great reaction as always guys. Trust me, those of us that saw them live know how lucky we were. I saw them in the last ever concert with Freddie at Knebworth in 1986, it both blew my mind and rocked my world. A truly life changing experience. They were magnificent. Freddie was one of a kind, there will never be another like him. RIP (Rock in Peace) Freddie you absolute legend.
I saw queen in 85 in Sydney..I was 16 and man what a night! No phones back then so you really felt part of the show. The band was on fire and Freddie, well just sensational. I'll never forget it. I've been a massive fan since then. They are by far my favourite band.
Their full Live Aid performance is legendary. Even if you dont watch it for the channel, you oee it to yourselves to see it. As a side note, if you haven't reacted to Bohemian Rhapsody (the movie), yiu should. Excellent movie and incredible portrayals of sll the members
I was EXTREMELY lucky to be at the FINAL Queen concert with Freddie at Knebworth Park (Festival) on 9th August 1986. I've still got the ticket and what's incredible is that it was only £14.50! For that, you also got to see Status Quo, Big Country and Belouis Some.
My sister had been to see a band called Mott the Hoople in 1973 , when I asked her what they were like she said they were great but the support band were even better … you guessed it Queen …..who I replied ? Bought the first album and saw them myself on the Sheer Heart attack tour in 75 🔥 lost their way for a while but came back strong in the end 🙌🙌
Lucky enough to see Queen on The Works Tour April 1985 in Sydney Aus, Amazing concert and tickets were about $25 which in todays money equals around $75, So lets try and justify $1200 for Taylor Swift, I mean please
yes was the one band i wish i had gotten to see in person, was fortunate to be a teen to see the live aid performance on tv which is still amazing to watch. Do still have the ticket from the one Prince concert i was able to see a few years before he passed, that will stay with me forever.
That's when I discovered Queen with 16 and soon had to have all their albums. And as some already mentioned: you absolutely have to react to the LiveAid gig, it's the best concert of any band of all times also often considered as this by music critics.
Hi Rob&Amber, by pure chance, my friend and I saw Queen in 1973. He had a spare ticket to go and see a group called Mott the Hopple at the Colston Hall in Bristol England 🏴. We were waiting for the support to come on, all of a sudden lights went on, and bang there were Queen. We had no idea who they were, all dressed in black. Freddie rushes around the stage, belting out his voice, as the band rocked away. We turn to each other, just looked, we were speechless. You just knew then that they were going to be stars, the following year their first hit I believe was killer Queen. Yes, the rest is history.
As other people have mentioned Queen Live aid concert segment. A must watch. Will blow your tiny minds. Make the time to watch it in one go. You owe it to yourselves as Queen fans.
I was lucky enough to be able to see Queen in 1977 at the Omni in Atlanta Ga. I was a junior in high school. It was great and I remember Freddie ran up on top of really tall speakers on each corner of the stage and threw long stemmed roses out to the crowd, while singing We Are The Champions.
I saw Queen live in Newcastle in 1986, and I can tell you we all know how lucky we are. Status Quo were playing on the same bill, and so are INXS but they didn't make it to the show for some traffic related reason. Never mind as the Quo did a double set to fill in for them. Amazing day all round.
Saw Queen in 1980 at MSG, saw the Bee Gees in 1989 at Jones Beach. Never got to see Prince. But the memories are alive, even as I pass into senior citizenry.
Seen Queen at the garden in 1982. Last 5 songs Crazy little thing called love another bites the dust closed with Bohemian Rhapsody. Encore we will rock you. Final song we are the champions. Was 16 at the time. Great memory
Saw Queen in Sydney in 1985. Freddie was front and centre and absolutely crushed his performance. As great as the rest of the members of Queen were, all eyes were fixed on Freddie and his showmanship. Was definitely once in a lifetime experience.
From the UK and absolutely love your reactions, I love you guys and your love for our British rock bands, please check out the official video for Queen “Breakthru” and has someone has also recommended, their Live Aid performance, greatest rock performance ever, our Freddie 💯 crowd control, miss him so much 😢
Hi Jay and Amber! It's Andrew Erroch fae Paisley in Scotland here again. What can I say about Queen that hasnt already been said? I've seen Queen several times, even up close, but it was, unfortunately, after Freddie Mercury passed away. They are still going with Adam Lambert. I even got to meet Brian May very briefly, a few years ago, which was amazing. There's a quirky fun song of theirs, which I think you would enjoy. It's got a great base track and crazy video. Each member of the band gets their own shout out. It's called 'The Invisible Man' and I love it. You will too. Æx 🙏
I think Jordan especially will love The Invisible Man. The 80s sound by Queen! But probably after seeing the video, he will also want glasses like Freddie!
I saw Queen on Sept 15, 1982, at the Los Angeles Forum with Billy Squier as the opening act. I do consider myself one of the lucky ones since it was their last U.S. tour. My all-time favorite band!
In 1985, I paid $35 for my Live Aid ticket and got to see the greatest bands in the world over an entire day. Now, I can barely buy a cocktail for that amount at a concert--although, I'm still going to a lot of them They are worth it.
I was young when Freddie passed yet old enough to have had to opportunity to have seen Queen, looking back older now I wish I had. What a great band and performer.
Who Wants to Live Forever was sung by Freddie but was written by Brian May, so technically, a Brian May song. Great reaction and love your appreciation of Queen!
I love Queen and Freddie Mercury. I'm a new fan of them. Of course, I knew a lot of their key hit songs. But explored a lot more newer to me songs. And became a big fan. I agree with you. That's the 1 person that I'm so jealous. I wish I could of seen him in concert. He did love to perform. That was his life. He loved performing for everyone. He was definitely the greatest showman ❤.
@@alleykeosheyan4779 It shouldn't be too long; it's 8.21 to the 5.55 of "Bohemian Rhapsody", but they've done 8-minute songs before. 10.00 is the limit, which they only broke for Pink Floyd, alas. ("Stairway to Heaven" runs 8.02, after all.)
Paul McCartney! I’ve seen him 5 times since 2002. The last 3 times was here in Tulsa a few years ago. Top price was $250. It’s incredible to share the same space as A BEATLE! ❤
Saw so many groups/bands that were out there from mid to late 60s, through the 70s, and really early 80s. I saw all the Mountain Aire concerts from '75 to '81 (for free!). Plus the performers during the Calaveras County Frog Jumping Jubilee (same years, for free!!), and every other concert held at the Fairgrounds. I can't even remember all of the performances I was blessed with seeing.
I know someone who saw Queen play Glasgow just as they were really hitting it big. At the opening Freddie came on stage with a flute of champagne in his hand an drank it.
I saw Queen in 1988 at the entertainment centre in Sydney, at that time it was the works album. After the concert they did an encore that lasted 40mins best money ever spent 😊
Yes, yes... we do realize how lucky we were to see them live. Whenever my kid teases me about aging, I throw it in her face. I may be old, but I saw Queen with Freddie! Then she closes her mouth and glares at me. 🤣
There always a group you wish you could have seen! Would have, Could have, Should have, this is that group for me! Thank God Jay Queen was well recorded we can still see them. You can't see them all 👀, be glad for the ones that can😅. Peace and Love Gary your 70 year old forever hippie😅 great reaction 🤣
I was lucky enough to see them live 3 times, the first one was in 1982 Elland road, Leeds for my 13th birthday, then also saw them Manchester & Knebworth 86 which was their last ever concert together
QUEEN! I am here for it, Jay and Amber! Excellent reaction! Our playlists are not complete if we don't have Queen in the playlist! Freddie Mercury was first and foremost a talented musician and one of the best frontmen in rock and roll music! One day you two will get to see the 1985 Live Aid benefit concert! Each band had about 20 minutes to play their music and when Queen took the stage, THEY STOLE THE SHOW! That is worth the reaction for you two, you will thank us for suggesting the Live Aid benefit concert and watching them in a LIVE environment! You can't deny that Freddie was in his element! The audience responded positively with them. Brian May himself said he knew they were going to play in front of a non-Queen audience but there were Queen fans in the audience too! Sadly, I never had the opportunity to see Queen in concert with Freddie Mercury, but I am glad to see the current active Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor with Adam Lambert last year, we were pleasantly surprised and pleased with their performance! The song set for the Live Aid concert was "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Radio Ga Ga," "Ay Oh" (Freddie and the audience) "Hammer to Fall", "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", "We will Rock You, and We Are the Champions" Some of the songs had to be shortened because of the 20-minute time slot. I am glad you guys enjoyed this song, this song ROCKS! Peace! ☮☮
If you want an out of body experience and to really appreciate what Queen meant to his fans, watch the crowd at Green Day singing Bohemian Rhapsody. You won't be disappointed 😊
I will always consider myself lucky to have seen Queen. In 1984 it cost the equivalent of $14. I saw Prince in London in 1988 and it cost $20. Even with inflation, that is so cheap by today's prices
Just saw your comment on seeing Queen live. I was lucky to see Queen with Freddie - and John Deacon - four times between 1980 and 1984, once in the third row. They were a class act.
Do yourselves a huge favor and watch the greatest 20 minutes in music history, Queen’s Live Aid performance in 1985. Freddie has 100,000 people in the palm of his hand. It is glorious.

The lyrics at several points refer to the Cold War era in which the band members grew up, fuelling the popular conception that the song was about nuclear war:
For we who grew up tall and proud
In the shadow of the mushroom cloud
The term "waiting for the hammer to fall" in the song was taken to refer to the anticipation by the public that Cold War would turn "hot" - or, alternatively, as a reference to the Soviet Hammer and Sickle.[citation needed]
The song also contains references to death and its inevitability:
Rich or poor or famous
For your truth it's all the same (oh no oh no)
The question of the meaning of the song was effectively settled when May wrote on his website that "Hammer to Fall is really about life and death, and being aware of death as being part of life", and that "the Hammer coming down is only a symbol of the Grim Reaper doing his job!"[11]

I saw Queen November 3, 1978 at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Florida, best concert I've ever seen!
Anybody who would spend $1200 to see Taylor Swift doesn’t deserve to have $1200.
I saw them in Sydney Entertainment Centre in '85 too. That night and the night my son was born were the best nights of my life!
Was about to say this ...kept it real low for the fans 😊
yes was the one band i wish i had gotten to see in person, was fortunate to be a teen to see the live aid performance on tv which is still amazing to watch. Do still have the ticket from the one Prince concert i was able to see a few years before he passed, that will stay with me forever.
It was amazing! I’ll never ever forget my Queen concert! I cried!
Mott the Hoople
Early hits "Killer Queen" and "Now I'm Here" would be well-worth reactions 🎉
As other people have mentioned Queen Live aid concert segment. A must watch. Will blow your tiny minds. Make the time to watch it in one go. You owe it to yourselves as Queen fans.
I wasn't lucky enough to see Freddie or Queen live., but the nearest was watching on tv live aid. You should check itt out. You won't be disappointed
Great reaction to an amazing song! Queen & Freddie are timeless. Yes, what the hell are we fighting for!
Agreed Queen's Live Aid performance is legendary.
Ya, we know how lucky we were.
He does this song in the Live Aid performance also you really have to watch that it's got some of the top songs in it live best performance ever
Saw Queen in 1974, they opened up with 'Now I'm Here', the tickets were a couple of GB pounds. I was so lucky to grow up in this era.
In 1974 they played on Broadway in NYC as an opening Band for Mott the Hoople......Yeah....A memory forever!!!
Heard this first in Highlander movie
From the UK and absolutely love your reactions, I love you guys and your love for our British rock bands, please check out the official video for Queen “Breakthru” and has someone has also recommended, their Live Aid performance, greatest rock performance ever, our Freddie 💯 crowd control, miss him so much 😢
Greatest band & greatest frontman in rock history bar none. Pure magic. 🖤🎶🖤
I love how towards their final albums they kinda went back to their original sound
Seen Queen back in 1977 in Washington D.C. Tickets were around $10.00. Great Show!!
Simply a fantastic song. Lyrically it's tremendous.
Saw Queen in 1982, 5 rows back , was unreal. Just wish i could re - live it, even for one song.
Queen suggestions:
"Keep Yourself Alive"
"Now I'm Here" (LIVE, please)
"Death on Two Legs"
"Teo Torriate (Let Us Cling Together)"
It's probably too long to post on TH-cam, but even privately, they should hear "The Prophet's Song" at least once!
Queen is one of the greatest rabbit holes of music to dive into.
I watched them live but never in person. They’re performance at Live aid was great.
Growing up w/the 70s & 80s bands, we Gen Xers were VERY lucky. Rob Squad has discovered many from that time.
I was lucky enough to see them live 3 times, the first one was in 1982 Elland road, Leeds for my 13th birthday, then also saw them Manchester & Knebworth 86 which was their last ever concert together
I've never said this to anyone, but you two are beautiful people. We need a lot more like you in the world.
O.k., I'm done being sappy now.
Peace! ☮☮
I got to see Queen live. Toronto, early 80s. Best show ever!
Freddie Mercury was a music God!! R.I.P. I never got the chance to see Queen live, sadly.
If you want an out of body experience and to really appreciate what Queen meant to his fans, watch the crowd at Green Day singing Bohemian Rhapsody. You won't be disappointed 😊
Gary Cherone did an amazing cover of this with Queen and Tony Iommi at "The Freddie Mercury Tribute Show"
As others have urged, Queen, Live Aid, 1985 is a must-see.
Brilliant articulate and great heavy lead in that guitar!!!! Freddie leads like no other!
We miss Freddie! Queen had the most remarkable lighting with six articulated man spots.
