It's good to hear that your favorite soup or broth or sabaw in Filipino is bulalo and sinigang. Enjoy staying in the Philippines and thank you also for loving our country. God bless you..

@@Derfbandy agree, most tourists/foreigners are initially attracted to the heavier popular dishes [lechon, adobo, sisig, jollibee, typical...], ilocos and other provinces tend to have healthier and more native dishes, like our pinakbet, dinengdeng, and more 😋
I love Mike and Nelly! 🙂 Beautiful people with such beautiful hearts. This world needs people like Mike and Nelly who thrives with optimism despite encountering a few bumps...and a flat tire along the way. Always stay safe and God bless!
That Bulalo looks so delicious. I almost reached into the screen to steal them off Mike. The meat looks like brisket. I bet the broth was yummy. Lumpia Sariwa (Fresh lumpia) from my region usually uses sliced turnips but the bamboo shoots sounds delicious too. It is true that lechon gets featured in vlogs a lot. In reality, it is only served at big occasions like Fiestas, birthdays, weddings. It is not part of regular daily dinners. My childhood meals in the farm consists of Sinigang, Tisola, Guisado, Kare-kare, Menudo and there's always a fish dish.
That’s a stereotype. Not all Filipinos do the one leg up thing. Just the canto/street tambays do it. For some reason, I don’t get how that mannerism got attached to a whole swath of people in a country. Not every Filipino does that in the same way nor every Filipino eats balut.
Mike, from that pt, you're halfway to Cagbalete island. I've gone around the whole PHL, it's one of the most underrated islands nearest MNL, short ferry ride too. You may park near Mauban pier. Just sharing
I can't name all the soup because of how creative Filipinos are when it comes to soup! We can literally cook soups depends on what is available ingredients.😅
After this covid try the gourmet restaurant in Silang along Aguinaldo hi-way before Tagaytay. They sale organic vegetables like lettuce. Farm is at the back of restaurant ( you can ask the manager if its possible to have a tour on the place) like we did before. Gourmet Coffee is popular here in Philippines, you can buy some of their products in the big groceries in Makati.
Obviously, Bulalo is one of Mike & Nelly’s favourite Filipino soup and another is Sinigang. Beef Picadillo soup_in sinigang broth is a combination of two, cook best with cubed potatoes & chopped mustard greens (mustasa). Another that comes in mind, Salmon Sinigang_in miso soup with daikon radish, sitaw or mustasa and a green chili or two floating to give it a kick😋 Actually, those 2 recipes are my husband & daughter’s favourite home cooked meals😍 I ❤️ watching you guys!
Have you guys tried Ilocano "pinapaitan" and "sinanglaw"? When you happen to travel up North, do try these. And if you travel to Aklan, try the native chicken "inubaran", an Aklanon specialty dish.
ohh... you should try the different versions of Sinigang, like... sinigang sa bayabas (guava based sinigang) best with beef or milkfish sinigang sa upo (pork butobuto or pata or dried surgeon fish) sinigang sa batwuan/kamias (good with fishes like matambaka, hiwas, ayungin) sinigang sa kamatis (tomato soup based) special mention Sinampalukang Manok...
So much positivity, you had a flat tire in the wilderness and yet you two still turned the situation into something joyful to watch! Mike is so funny. He is like a child enjoying everything😍 God bless you both 😇
From the Ilocos region, in addition to the normal fare, here are dishes that have soup: 1. Dinengdeng, it's a combination of different vegetables boiled in water and fish sauce or salt optionally topped with grilled/fried fish/seafood. Flavor and taste varies depemding on the vegetable ingredients; could be savory, sweet, sour, bitter 2. Kaldo, basically pork or pork knuckles nilaga with vinegar. Different from sinigang which is also sour but with different sour ingredient. 3. Sinanglaw, it's a stew made with beef and beef innards. 4. Papaitan, beef or goat meat and innards, it's like a more exotic version of sinanglaw due to bitter ingredient, ex. bile. 5. Sinampalukan, goat meat stew with tamarind (sampalok). 6. Pinikpikan, banned due to method of preparation, it's only allowed in some parts of mountain province as a traditional food.
Mike squeezing calamansi like a pro When you visit Batangas again, try the bulanglang. It's different vegetables that are boiled together. There are many vegetable combination to make bulanglang. The simplest is squash with malunggay with either ginger or garlic. Or papaya and pasibol and patani. with lots of green leafy vegetables like kamote tops and squash leaves. So good! Now I'm craving some! Kawayan is bamboo in English. You should try bamboo shoots with gata (coconut milk) or what we call ginataang labong. And the lumpia is called lumpiang ubod
@@arvsden yes pinakbet!!! (agree, light on the parya.. hihi lolol) also yes with the ginisang-monggo-guisado [i call it balatong]. also, paksiw. also, dinengdeng/inabraw. mmm 😋😋
Nice find, Mike & Nelly. I'll try that place some time as I haven't gone there yet. I've been to the Bulawan Floating Restaurant a couple of times, which is only 4.4 km further down that road, and still within Pililla.
An Iliganon beef halang- halang soup ( from the word itself halang means spicy), balbacua soup , toragsoy ( an Ilonggo soup with green vegetables and grilled fish in it ) , soup no 5 ( Iligan’s best ) arroz caldo ( congee like with native chicken boiled to perfection till it’s flavor comes out ), tinolang native chicken, lomi soup ( noodles with lots of toppings ) etc....
Ohhhmmyyyy...Thank you guys for showing our foods.. I really mis my life in our province... Hahaha... Bulalo, binakol, buko juice.. Etc... Hehhe... I mis my mom and my dad cooking this kind of ulam... 🤗😊😍😍
Soup based dish: Popular in the Phils Sinigang na baboy (pork) / hipon (shrimp) / baka (beef) Bulalo - beef, bones, fat Nilagang baka - (almost similar to Bulalo) - more on just plain meat Tinola - (chicken) Sinampalukang manok - similar to sinigang but chicken is used as the meat Chicken sotanghon or bola bola - similar to molo soup but with sotanghon Sinigang sa miso - a variant of the sinigang using miso - (tuna belly) Paksiw - try baka (beef) - fish - pork (lechon) - sour soup every type of meat used taste diff from the other Sopas - kind of pasta (shell-like) soup - with milk, pork, hotdog The mamihan varieties - lomi, mami, batchoy, pares Most common are in here already, others are provincial specific,, they have specialties that are popular on their region. Try the Kapangpangang soup - bulanglang or sinigang sa bayabas ; replace tamarind with guava then add either shrimp, bangus, or pork with kangkong ( water spinach) or camote tops-- another one is misua sa patola with shrimp or alimasag ( crab) or minced pork
I totally agree.. Philippines does not get praise for all the wonderfully tasty soups!! In our Filipino/Swedish family we cook a lot of Filipino soups and the favourite is Sinigang.
Nelly/Mike: Try to look for sinigang na bangus sa bayabas when you go to the province or restaurants. (Milkfish in guava soup.) Beef Pochero as well. (Beef broth like bulalo but with plantain). Highly recommended for your 2021 food trip.
Hi guys, try these soups Pinikpikan of Cordillera Utan of Cebu Chicken sopas (breakfast soup) Dinengdeng of ilocos region Ginataang lapu-lapu of Mindanao
Other soup/stew: > Papaitan - cow/goat innards (bitter flavor because of bile) > Sinaing na tulingan - fish stew > Pinangat na isda - another fish soup > Paksiw na isda - fish in vinegar > Suam na Mais - corn soup with shrimp > Sinabawang Gulay / Utan Bisaya - vegetable soup usually with Moringa leaves and smoked fish
Papaitan...rapsaaaaa. Try to drink alcoholic drinks first and then take a good sip of papaitan...or if you are in a long trip and want to feel your body to energize again a bit, take a break and stop to a restaurant or a meal station for long trip buses that serves hot papaitan soup then eat this with monay or dip the monay in hot papaitan soup! saraaaap! lastly drink ice cold 7up.
You should try the dishes up north, in the Ilocos region... Their soups/stews are quite healthy, which contain different vegetables that are staple to ilocanos, grilled fish, and seasoned with bagoong isda (fermented fish paste). Acquired taste for some but super yummy to most!
Try Ginataang Tambo, it’s an ilonggo soup with bamboo shoots, okra, corn, shrimp/crab, greens. And KBL soup, an ilonggo favourite of Kadyos beans, Baboy (pork) and Langka ( young jackfruit).
Try "Sinigang na kanduli sa miso", "Pesang Dalag","Sinampalukang manok", "Sinigang na ayungin with balaw balaw", "Ginisang upo soup" which you can get in Tanay, Rizal. Ur also close to a good seafood resto called "Bulawan Floating restaurant".
So many great finds in Rizal, we love going there on weekdays. Thanks for sharing!. Maybe next time you can visit the Palaya Nature Farm in Tanay Rizal.
Now,I'm craving here.thats pretty awesome place and good food they served.Enjoy the two of you in the Philippines and I wish could also take vacation once everything's back into normal. Viel Glück & Bleibt Gesund ♥️
Check out Cavinti in Laguna. See Caliraya Lake and try rappelling down to Pagsanjan falls Or you can go to Pagsanjan and try shooting the rapids toward Pagsanjan falls.
Thank you guys for visiting philippines.. its realy paradise.. for culture, the system esp.the people is kindness.amd hospitable. love..love fr. Spain 💝💝💝
Lumpiang ubod (bamboo shoots) is really tasty cause it is usually made fresh before serving. The wrapper is made with egg. And the bulalo looks to die for. Normally the lumpia is usually eaten as a merienda. By the way Molo soup is a family soup for us served during special occasions.
Sometimes you can discover beautiful things thru accident. Nice vid again guys For the soup. I would recommend "UTAN BISAYA" very common here in Cebu. Amping guys
I've look for this place while watching the Vlog, I was surprised to know that this is a very far place from Manila but you guys manage to reach that far. But I realized you went there for the Windmills in Rizal and happens to be very near to that place, this hives me an idea to visit the place during my next vacation in the Philippines. This is an amazing experience even to ourselves to be excited to visit. Another great video guys very interesting content.👍👍👍😀😀😀🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Hey Mikey, watching you (here in Toronto) savour the broth, meat and marrow fills me with envy! Bulalo was one of our after school favorite snacks back then in Uni. We didn't go for fast food or sweets/pastries. We would have a "platito" of chillies on the side and we would crush 1 or 2 in the broth. Try with chilly next time! Cheers!
Try the munggo soup and the sinanglaw or sinkuchar, a beef/beef innards soup delicacy originally from the ilocos region. Also try the beef pochero or beef sinigang using short ribs.
Try tiyulah itum also known as black soup. It is a beef soup with burnt coconut in it that adds a different flavor to a normal beef soup. It is a delicacy of tausug people from western part of mindanao.
Molo soup, it originated here in our place at Molo, Iloilo City 💕 It’s called pancit molo, other Filipinos find it weird in an awe state because it’s the only pancit in the Philippines without the long strands unlike the other kinds of pancit in the Philippines 😅 But it’s undeniably delicious 👌
Each time we had lunch there, there were only few tables occupied, so it made our experience peaceful and relaxing. We always enjoy the food and the view

Bamboo shoots is also good with coconut milk, shrimp and saluyot!!
This couple is lovable and i truly enjoy their vlogs bec every time they have food trip, u cant help but crave pinoy dishes .... oh how i miss 🇵🇭
Mike is so in love with Bulalo, I bet if someone will make a bulalo perfume he will buy it HAHAHA
I think Mike the bamboo shoots u mentioned s the "labong" w/c we bicolanos cook that w/ coconut milk.
Thank you guys.. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS LOTS OF LOVE FROM THE PHILIPPINES
aaaahhhh.. OH MY GOD .....😍😍😍

Nelly/Mike:
Try to look for sinigang na bangus sa bayabas when you go to the province or restaurants. (Milkfish in guava soup.)
Beef Pochero as well. (Beef broth like bulalo but with plantain).
Highly recommended for your 2021 food trip.
Mike and Nelly you're greet couple thank you for visiting and vlogging or something promoting our tourism❤️🙏👍
Hi guys, try these soups
Pinikpikan of Cordillera
Utan of Cebu
Chicken sopas (breakfast soup)
Dinengdeng of ilocos region
Ginataang lapu-lapu of Mindanao
Other soup/stew:
> Papaitan - cow/goat innards (bitter flavor because of bile)
> Sinaing na tulingan - fish stew
> Pinangat na isda - another fish soup
> Paksiw na isda - fish in vinegar
> Suam na Mais - corn soup with shrimp
> Sinabawang Gulay / Utan Bisaya - vegetable soup usually with Moringa leaves and smoked fish
I really like your vlogs.and i can see that your really proud of our country and everything with it.stay safe U guys.Goodluck
Bulalo or we also call Nilaga , Chicken Sotanghon Soup, Bachoy, Sinigang, na Baboy, Shrimp or Bangus, Tinola, Pancit Molo, Mami Soup, Sinampalukan Manok, Chicken noodle soup (sopas), Arroz Caldo, Goto, Miswang Bola Bola (Meatball Soup), Corned Beef with Sotanghon, Tahong Soup (Mussels), also small clam soup, Bird’s nest soup, Chicken and corn soup, Mongo Soup,
Aside from what you have said.. you can add yummy popular filipino hearty soups like Pochero, and Beef Picadillo soup.
Bamboo is the most high fiber foods and no doubt to it. I love labong with saluyot tinapa ang bagoong with soup. Traditional Ilokano food.
Hi fr: NYC metro area.... 2:45 BEAUTIFUL BACK DROP , HUT umbrella 100% all nature abound...
Check out Cavinti in Laguna. See Caliraya Lake and try rappelling down to Pagsanjan falls Or you can go to Pagsanjan and try shooting the rapids toward Pagsanjan falls.

Our bisaya Bulalo, we put young bamboo shoots too if we have one available 🥰🥰👌👌👌
It is called dabong
Try goto monster in makati which is own by a german guy
Lumpiang ubod (bamboo shoots) is really tasty cause it is usually made fresh before serving. The wrapper is made with egg. And the bulalo looks to die for. Normally the lumpia is usually eaten as a merienda. By the way Molo soup is a family soup for us served during special occasions.
Sometimes you can discover beautiful things thru accident.
Nice vid again guys
For the soup. I would recommend "UTAN BISAYA" very common here in Cebu.
Amping guys
Tiyula Itum, a Tausug dish from Southern Mindanao.
Sinanglaw / Sinanglao, an Ilokano dish from Northern Luzon.
Papaitan (different areas).
Albondigas.
Stay safe always nelly n mike✌✌
Soup:
Sinampalukan
Salmon and Miso soup
Diningdeng ( ilocos )
Sinigang na hipon
Lomi
Chicken molo
Sotanghon..
Bamboo is kawayan..
✌✌

I've look for this place while watching the Vlog, I was surprised to know that this is a very far place from Manila but you guys manage to reach that far. But I realized you went there for the Windmills in Rizal and happens to be very near to that place, this hives me an idea to visit the place during my next vacation in the Philippines. This is an amazing experience even to ourselves to be excited to visit. Another great video guys very interesting content.👍👍👍😀😀😀🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
I love watching you guys eat Filipino food. Fresh lumpia is one of my favorites. It's healthy.
Cheers!
Tagaytay delicious of bulalo, nilagang baka,or nilagang baboy, sinigang na isda like ( bangos, lapu lapo, tanigue,o Malaking isda) kaldereta,
Try the munggo soup and the sinanglaw or sinkuchar, a beef/beef innards soup delicacy originally from the ilocos region. Also try the beef pochero or beef sinigang using short ribs.
Mike and Nelly, the food is mouthwatering I'm so jealous 😋😋😋
It's so nice that w your flat tire, you still made the most of your day 🤗
Hi fr: NYC metro area...Litchfield County, Connecticut.....0:28 KAYAWAN FARM RESTAURANT (MON TO SUN) 3:31 kid friendly with swings, play area
I agree with you Mike! It will be great if you put up a Filipino Restaurant in Makati and you as the endorser!
Try tiyulah itum also known as black soup. It is a beef soup with burnt coconut in it that adds a different flavor to a normal beef soup. It is a delicacy of tausug people from western part of mindanao.
Food looks YUMMY😍😍
A MUST TRY!
So good
@@MakingithappenVlog when we visit the phillipines... we definitely will😁😁
wow, that's amazing. You make me hungry.
Love that you love all our food. Wish I could go home and eat fresh food. I live in NJ
