    As a Brit who spent 3 months in the USA I was astonished how literally EVERYTHING was laden with sugar - even the bread was as sweet as cake in Europe. It was like sweetness was turned up to 11 on every savoury food and snack.

      @G T The point of keto is that it trains your body's metabolism to switch from using carbs as fuel to using fat as fuel. By essentially starving it of glucose, it's forced to use fat for energy = fat burn. Excess carbs get stored as fat, which is why you may gain weight (I say MAY because high carb diets work for some people. I don't think there's a clear cut diet that everyone should follow. I think it depends on how the individual feels, etc.
      I don't follow the keto diet, but I do find it interesting. I try to eat mainly whole foods ... with the occasional oreo milkshake 😅

    Having struggled with my weight for the last 40 years I was told I HAD to lose weight for an operation. I went at it like a military operation ensuring no more than 1200 calories a day. It didn't work. Medics told me I had to exercise more because I obviously hang on to fat and told me to eat less fat and more carbs. I tried to tell them I already did this but they obviously didn't believe me. Then I saw this video. It led me to read around it - eventually finding Low Carb down under. I'm now two and a half weeks into a keto diet with intermittent fasting overnight (8 hour eating window) and have lost 8lbs. I want to thank you for changing my life - and probably saving it as I will be able to have the operation now if the results continue.

      Great to hear you figured something out. I learned about this in my early 20's when I was big into bodybuilding/lifting weights and went at it like a ritual. The funny thing is that it's basically common knowledge around 'fitness pros' - They probably figured it out through trial and error and then in the age of TH-cam it's easy to spread the message and once you hear the logic it's easy to say yeah, I'll give that a try.
      I honestly think the reason this kind of information isn't pushed by western governments is because they'd have to admit that their entire nations have been fed false advice for the past 40 years.

What your left with is a proven diet to take you to old age, with the benefits of modern medicine and living conditions. Old books are hit and miss because they usually were built on opinion and observation. Now we try to back everything up with research, but even that method is flawed because coorelation doesn't mean causation and because there's always an agenda behind the study usually money. And, "got money's not looking for the cure."

      The next step after establishing correlation is the proposal and thesting of mechanisms that explain said correlation, if they fail the tests then new mechanisms are proposed (as the ones explained in this video. There is corruption in science (as in any human activity), but science is done in multiple countries with multiple finance sources, thus eventually science gathers more evidence and self corrects. The trick is catching when is science being influenced by corruption and when there is not enough data.

    Its so funny to see and hear people around me, both strangers and people I know, react negatively to me choosing to opt for fatty milk, sour cream, fatty meats etc. And try and convince me that it's unhealthy and that I should be buying low fat milk which is technically a water with milk taste that has all sorts of additives to compensate for the loss of minerals and vitamins. Then I also see same "experts" eat loads of bread, pizzas, cakes and what not and get chubbier each coming year. Then they ask me how do I stay in shape despite me eating loads of fat. Literal kek.

    What people need to understand is that food quality is even more important than the food itself. If we compare a farm chicken fed with natural grass, grains and worms from the ground, and on the other hand soybeans that are genetically modified, full of pesticides and fertilizers, the chicken is way better. So we need to ignore well marketed products as green and healthy as they may look, and focus on local and quality products, and also follow the origin and processing of the food.😊

    • @JakeAoTK
      @JakeAoTK 7 ปีที่แล้ว +139

      Well overall, the Japanese diet has significantly more fat. I think the argument here is that the increase in fat makes you less hungry. Just had 3 friends come back from Japan from a 3 week trip and they lost like 3-4 lbs. Serving sizes are smaller but overall carb intake is much lower overall compared to the conventional American diet.
      Serving size you'd have 1 carb for every meal. One serving. 1 cup of rice is like 44-55 and they would have at most 3 servings a day which is like 130-150g which is still considered low carb compared to the conventional 2000 calorie diet which recommends like 280-320g.

      harooni22 I did, but your personal experience is not representative of the majority of Asians. The reason rice is the overwhelming caloric intake isn't because they are carb fanatics or fear fatty foods. It's because rice is the cheapest food on the planet. But sure, Japanese street food can be very high in fat, but the point I was making is that they don't avoid carbs like many Americans who are desperate to lose weight, that's absurd.

      Maybe it is normal if you exercise that much. This is what fat is meant for.
      However, exercise was not mentioned in the original comment.
      I lost 5 kg per month for the last 4 months. So I lost just as much but with half the speed. Still, I did NOT exercise AT ALL. That is perfectly fine speed to lose fat for a person who simply walk an average of 3 hours per day.
      I did not start any particular diet. I simply stopped adding sugar and salt to my food. I also stopped smoking and eating candy. Finally, I started eating less portions of food.
      Therefore, I do not recommend any particular diet since they might be unhealthy. I continued to eat veggies, fruits, bread and meat. Basically, a little of everything.

    • @blackstream2572
      @blackstream2572 5 ปีที่แล้ว +65

      It's multiple factors, just like most things. Stress eating tends to make you want to eat food that makes you happy, which drives you towards the kinds of foods that give you a ton of calories but don't do much for your body and will also clear your system fast making your system ready for another meal pretty quickly. And if you have nutritional needs that aren't being met, you could end up overeating to hit those needs. Kind of like when I was going to carl's jr after work to get my protein needs. Yeah I got my 50 grams, but I also got like 2k calories in the process. My brain associates the carl's jr with both a pick-me-up and hitting certain nutrition needs, and suddenly it's really hard to quit because of how many needs are layered into that choice.

      @@jonharvey55 I think they have to be looked at together, not one or the other. For example, one way to fix stress and mental health issues is to eat better. That's a more long term solution as it won't make you feel better right that second, so you'd also need an alternative way to deal with stress and anxiety. Say video games or exercising at a gym or watching your favorite funny sitcom or whatever.

      People are brainwashed and believe doctors and tv blindly. We’re taught to not ask questions of anyone we see as an authority. How dare you question your overweight chain smoking doctor.
