Back during the Jurassic, I started hang gliding off a hill call Mount Etna, Tiftonia, TN. It was a 2:17 duration ride. I'm not certain the term "hang gliding" had been coined up til them. There were no schools and formal training, so to speak. I ordered a surplus Rogallo satellite recovery wing and only guessed at the amount of surface area I needed to remain aloft. Made of canvass and aluminum tube they were heavy with a glide ratio more closely matching the space shuttle as opposed to a sail plane. Luckily I didn't have to trudge up the smallish mountain, there was a gondola for people see another cavern adventure at the top. We strapped out "kites" underneath the gondola, assembled the Rogallo at the top and took a leap of faith. It was exhilarating beyond belief, that first jump. Thanks for the video.
@@AndreaGhidiniHangGliding when you leveled off just above the ground, your speed deteriorated very quickly from 150km/h. Hang gliders have a lot of parasitic drag unfortunately. That is just the nature of even the best performing hang glider like the Laminar.
Nothing sad, hang gliders do what they can, I also have to say that when I performed that landing the glider was still without leading edge profilers and carbon sheets inserts, so it suffered a lot of shape drag

Well man, I don't know if I would have the courage to do it that way. Respect
Belíssima aproximação, sprint final e pouso, não me canso de admirar. Excelente, parabéns!
+150! Dang bro. The wind sounded like you were in a jet!
Impresionante! A 150 km/h y aterrizo caminando como si nada. Buen aterrizaje.
I really love how the wing is flutter prone! Have you done some special tunning for speed and to overcome flutter?
Hi Petr, nothing so special, full gv, turbo skippers and sprogs a little lower (now I lift 'em up to try aerobatics)
That was intense.
Icaro should correct the VNE on the datasheet to 155 km/h
The glider it wasn't that happy to be pushed like this 😅
How is that App called you are using?
it's Gopro Quick desktop
@@AndreaGhidiniHangGliding Thanks
Just don't try that in an Atos with the flap wires loose! LOL Great job as always bro!!!!!
Is there a way to pull data from XCTrack and add it as a layer with direction and speed on the video like you do?
Maybe you can do it downloading the gpx file and putting it in a third party software for telemetry overlays
That is insane XD
Going VG loose in a turn on blazing final is something to do. Busy schedule.
...über den gleichen Hotelpool ( Colomber in St. Michele ) bin ich auch geflogen...ok, nur halb so schnell ..LOL
i was expecting the glider to go up when you flared at those speeds.
| just have to laugh. Its crazy :D Pleasure to watch..
What's it like to travel at those great speeds in a hang glider? Do you get butterflies in your stomach descending rapidly like that?
Well, no. You reach that point after a lot of training, si you are slowly used to the feeling. All you feel is a great concentration on the exercise
@@AndreaGhidiniHangGliding I can imagine, I would get a massive boost of adrenaline doing that.
Perfect!
Holy shit thats fast
Как ловко с дельтом управился...😮
Mad man!
Spaziale!
So fun.
OMG cool ;)
Bravo!!
Tremendo
👏👏👏👍👍👍
Fantástico
waooov
Lake Garda ?
Exactly
He did not land at 93 mph!
Sho
Hii
Why would you do this? You are taking your aircraft well outside its safe to fly flight envelope. You give the sport a bad name.
You are right
The glider sadly does not retain energy very well at all.
nothing sad here, high setup due to aerobatics purpose and released VG on final
