Let’s stop normalizing a woman being able to “handle” a man that verbally abuses her. It’s sickening. He builds her up then tears her down. It’s a dangerous cycle. This show literally triggers a lot of us that have experienced something similar. I wish Katina’s self esteem was better - because when you know your worth - you don’t take shit like this. Usually verbal abuse comes before physical abuse .... I can foresee that happening in the future if they stay together.

Smh, even in 2022 people giving virtuous titles like patient to describe Katina's trauma response (fight, flight, freeze) is even harder to hear. Their relationship has every characteristic of an abusive relationship. The culture need to stop romanticizeing the characteristics of abuse: unequal power, rigid expectations based on male privilege, comparing partner to be inferior to their counterparts, withdrawal of affection or presence to punish, name calling, and the "honeymoon phase" followed by a the repeat of the above.

I see myself in Katina. I have been in relationships where I was afraid my partner would leave me. I would be calm and patient in hopes that my partner would stop yelling at me, thinking my calmness would bring him down. It never did. It only led to extreme gaslighting and mental abuse. I disagree with TBTB. Just because Katina is not meeting him at his level does NOT make her a good partner for Isaac. This was extremely triggering to watch. And makes me sad for Katina. I hope she chooses to divorce. And I hope Isaac chooses the professional help he so desperately needs.
I agree, Ola chiding Katina and becoming emotionally, verbally abusive is a classic behavior pattern/traits of an abuser. He uses his role as a husband to justify unequal exertion power in their relationship , withdraws his emotions or presence in the midst of an argument to punish her, and compares her value to other women to keep her vested in wanting to please him. There is a difference in being patient or gracious than accomodating someone's repetitive disrespect and disregard of your mental health. In this way, I feel both Katina and O does not have a reference for health communication or how to cultivate a mutually trusting, caring relationship. Jealousy, control, and disrespect doesn't look anything like love because love considers the other person.
I agree. He just beats up on her and the fact that he is still a stranger…he doesn’t deserve her grace and calmness at this point. I see her as someone afraid of the person leaving and bending to be who they want and if she isn’t able to be her true self. I want better for her.

As a secondary victim of domestic violence as a child and a recent survivor of a narcissistic relationship I can tell that Katina is losing herself in the relationship by trying to keep the peace during abusive encounters. She’s not made for him. No one is made to endure abuse.

I think as viewers we have to be mindful of our triggers and be careful not to project onto others because we do not see the full story ever. Behind the scenes, she could be responding in a different matter.

Olajuwon is abusive. I PRAY Katina gets up outta there. Her "taking it" is not noble, or mature, or wifely. "Freeze" is also a response to harm, not just "Fight". Too many highs and lows with Olajuwan. Those outbursts are not healthy. As long as he’s committed to this vision of what he believes a wife is supposed to be, he’s gonna continue to belittle Katina. Her ability to withstand him berating her is not a good thing. I need her to take some of the spice she had for Lindsey and direct it toward her husband. He needs to be checked.
Noi is immature as hell Steve already proved he can hold a job. This is the problem with thinking that life is all about working until you're 65 and retired. When you encounter someone that doesn't think the same, it breaks your brain.
Regarding Steve and Noi, He does have an apartment. Remember when they stopped by the apt after the honeymoon and showed her all his lights and told her they can either take some to the new apartment or buy some new ones? He was able to go on a four-month trip and still maintain an apartment. I just wish he would set her mind at ease and show her his bank book! There's nothing wrong with freelancing, but he needs to purchase health/life insurance and possibly put away for retirement.

Marcus might be the only person who is seeing Jasmina and Michael’s relationship clearly. She does not like him! Think about it, that whole beautiful anniversary day was planned by him, not her. It was sweet and thoughtful and they seemed to connect, but at no point did she kiss him or show sincere affection to him. She made negative comments about their experience thus far until Michael spun the story around to look on the brighter side, and even when she said she sees things getting better she quickly broke eye contact with him. Which to me reads that her statement wasn’t genuine. She doesn’t like him, she’s not kind to him, this won’t last regardless of how cute things appeared in this episode.
Jasmina is not attracted to Michael, she wants her mind stimulated but she's also not attracted to his looks. When you don't have either one of those attractions...
So… Steve was not homeless and probably had the nicest apartment out of everyone. He had the lights all over his apartment that Noi didn’t like. I don’t know where y’all got that he got rid of all of his stuff lol

Right! Steve works in IT. He can do consulting positions whenever he wants and probably make more than she makes in a few months. They are readily available in that field. He just doesn’t want to be restricted by a 9-5 and I get that. He can still support himself and his family. Why can’t she see that!? Clearly he’s well established and has a nice savings built bc he’s living well. He’s not stupid or irresponsible. He just has an unconventional lifestyle that is actually working for him
Steve had a place. They had a whole edit about his LED lights and such. And none of his friends seem worried about his job situation which is telling to me. He seems employable he just wants to see what kind of thing will fit their lifestyle etc. I feel like if Noi fills out the financials and budgets about what she sees the family needing etc it would give steve a layout about how much work he is going to take on freelance-wise or in getting a full-time position. His goal seems comfort not explicitly financial so he won't be able to give her a number outline unless there are some parameters. She keeps saying she doesn't want to be the breadwinner but every time she says that he seems to indicate that wouldn't be the case; she needs to give a projected lifestyle or how much she wants to have saved before kids then the ball is in his court to show if he can contribute what she needs and she can make an informed decision.
There is going to come a day when Olajuwon is going to slap the ish out of Katina. We won’t see it because the cameras will be gone. But mark my words,if she stays with him, he is going to get physical.

That argument that Katina endured was gut wrenching to watch. I dated someone like that who when they got to that level no matter what I said or didn't say they were already on level 10. Its emotionally draining and unhealthy! The fact that he wanted to discuss something he saw with a group of people prior to discussing it with his wife was pure foolishness. The horseback ride that he refused to go at her pace. 3. The cooking date to only press the fact that he expects her to cook on the level of a chef everyday. 4. Demeaning her delegating skills for “his housewarming” by having her friend pick up the food. 5. Upset because she went to bed without sweeping. He works night so his internal clock was still going. She probably worked that day! I’m just saying. 6. His expectations that she should do all the domestic matters because she works from home. As someone who works from home, I truly take offense to this one. 7. The disrespectful put downs that he delivers at every turn - your lazy, your are not woman enough, you haven’t done anything - I bought a house & paid off my student loans, you can’t prove you can handle things if something happens to me, you are not wife material, you are not holding up your end by cooking and cleaning, etc. 8. The disregard of Dr. Viviana and talking over her. Also, not comforting his wife when she was crying. He could have at least got her a tissue. 9. O bringing up the fact that he had a problem in front of the other couples. He was happy go lucky at dinner. I had to watch the dinner scene twice. He did a 180 within minutes (edited of course). He didn’t check Lindsey for calling his wife the b-word twice but he did on the plane??? Side eye 😒 When he extended his arm to Katina, leaving the dinner he had a huge smile on his face like he was so proud of himself for breaking up the gathering by embarrassing Katina. 10. The yelling at her over an app and not allowing her to speak was crazy. Then just like Lindsey get MAD because she rolled her eyes. Get out of here!!! I believe the network may have tipped there hand that another couple calls it quits before decision day. The information on the guide for this episode stated SIX individuals and not EIGHT individuals. 🤔

Both parties are responsible for self regulating themselves and engaging the other person when ready to talk and listen to each other. I don't understand why this isn't an expectation in relationships. It takes two to argue and one person to set the tone as what will not be accepted. In my experience people who value your presence, they will adapt to your boundaries to engage with you. So you have to ask yourself, do you want to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't value you enough to talk with you with respect.

Regarding Steve and Noi, He does have an apartment. Remember when they stopped by the apt after the honeymoon and showed her all his lights and told her they can either take some to the new apartment or buy some new ones? He was able to go on a four-month trip and still maintain an apartment. I just wish he would set her mind at ease and show her his bank book! There's nothing wrong with freelancing, but he needs to purchase health/life insurance and possibly put away for retirement.

Marcus might be the only person who is seeing Jasmina and Michael’s relationship clearly. She does not like him! Think about it, that whole beautiful anniversary day was planned by him, not her. It was sweet and thoughtful and they seemed to connect, but at no point did she kiss him or show sincere affection to him. She made negative comments about their experience thus far until Michael spun the story around to look on the brighter side, and even when she said she sees things getting better she quickly broke eye contact with him. Which to me reads that her statement wasn’t genuine. She doesn’t like him, she’s not kind to him, this won’t last regardless of how cute things appeared in this episode.

Steve had a place. They had a whole edit about his LED lights and such. And none of his friends seem worried about his job situation which is telling to me. He seems employable he just wants to see what kind of thing will fit their lifestyle etc. I feel like if Noi fills out the financials and budgets about what she sees the family needing etc it would give steve a layout about how much work he is going to take on freelance-wise or in getting a full-time position. His goal seems comfort not explicitly financial so he won't be able to give her a number outline unless there are some parameters. She keeps saying she doesn't want to be the breadwinner but every time she says that he seems to indicate that wouldn't be the case; she needs to give a projected lifestyle or how much she wants to have saved before kids then the ball is in his court to show if he can contribute what she needs and she can make an informed decision.

The O & Katina Show was disturbing. When you look at his actions as a collective, it is truly a bunch of red flags 🚩 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩.
1. The deliberately pushing her like Major Payne at the gym.
2. The horseback ride that he refused to go at her pace.
3. The cooking date to only press the fact that he expects her to cook on the level of a chef everyday.
4. Demeaning her delegating skills for “his housewarming” by having her friend pick up the food.
5. Upset because she went to bed without sweeping. He works night so his internal clock was still going. She probably worked that day! I’m just saying.
6. His expectations that she should do all the domestic matters because she works from home. As someone who works from home, I truly take offense to this one.
7. The disrespectful put downs that he delivers at every turn - your lazy, your are not woman enough, you haven’t done anything - I bought a house & paid off my student loans, you can’t prove you can handle things if something happens to me, you are not wife material, you are not holding up your end by cooking and cleaning, etc.
8. The disregard of Dr. Viviana and talking over her. Also, not comforting his wife when she was crying. He could have at least got her a tissue.
9. O bringing up the fact that he had a problem in front of the other couples. He was happy go lucky at dinner. I had to watch the dinner scene twice. He did a 180 within minutes (edited of course). He didn’t check Lindsey for calling his wife the b-word twice but he did on the plane??? Side eye 😒 When he extended his arm to Katina, leaving the dinner he had a huge smile on his face like he was so proud of himself for breaking up the gathering by embarrassing Katina.
10. The yelling at her over an app and not allowing her to speak was crazy. Then just like Lindsey get MAD because she rolled her eyes. Get out of here!!!
I believe the network may have tipped there hand that another couple calls it quits before decision day. The information on the guide for this episode stated SIX individuals and not EIGHT individuals. 🤔
Thank you for outlining all of this. Anyone rooting for this couple is overlooking the abuse O is inflicting on Katina. It’s loud and obvious yet some people (including the TBTB hosts) aren’t addressing it head on. No one deserved to be treated this way and no one should stay in a marriage that’s like this.

Both parties are responsible for self regulating themselves and engaging the other person when ready to talk and listen to each other. I don't understand why this isn't an expectation in relationships. It takes two to argue and one person to set the tone as what will not be accepted. In my experience people who value your presence, they will adapt to your boundaries to engage with you. So you have to ask yourself, do you want to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't value you enough to talk with you with respect.
