    Thanks Kit. About to pull 40lb. braid of a reel I plan on using for the small "micro jigs" and now I have something I can do with it instead of just throwing it away.👍 I really dislike creating waste. Thanks again for such helpful content.

      My pleasure Max - I think we have a lot we could recycle laying around - not just braid. This is one of the easy and most accessible ones to do and the method I'm sharing, it's also quite easy to do but has the exact same result as the complicated braiding version.

    Very timely. Ive managed smaller lighter bobbin tied double assist hks & spliced hollow core single assist hks. Ive duplicated crimped bite leaders for big tuna that retail at $38.00 that have hd swivels replacing cord but I still want the ability to have a single assist at the back of a jig that employs cord similarly & still keep the whole presentation as stealthy & clean as possible I will use 280 lb solid cord & follow your procedure. Thx Kit this was just what Ive been trying to figure out how to do in a clean manner.

      This video was intended for places where its hard to find proper cords - if it works for you, great, but use proper cord when you can - because its better.

      I am by no means a master and actually don't like people calling me that. I am just a guy who shares what he has learned from people that know more than myself and were kind enough to share it with me.

    I found that you can lock the twists with a drop of superglue. Works nicely when you dont have a tying vice

      Yup! Better with a vise though, even a cheap one will work wonders!

    Hello Kit, for me I've been using a drill and a dab of glue as I have to use one hand, I've spooled five reels of new braid two with J braid the other three with Berkeley x9 braid, I did have to stop to rest, but went further by the time I finished, but I'm confident when I get to wet the lures that will be better without stopping.

      I don't get what you are talking about Miles, are you talking about spooling reels or are you talking about using a drill to make assist cords like what I did in this video?

      @@TheFishingKit yes, I put each strand on each opening of the drill chuck nip it up and use the drill to twist it, as effective I can be I can just close my right hand limited and less movement opening my right hand, and with foot drop that I have to wear a plastic support under my right foot that comes Up alongside my calf muscle straps Up below my knee, only limited muscles move my whole right side of my body, from the effect's of my stroke. The simple things to do has become very difficult and was just saying spooling my reels and haven't thrown out any lures before to see if I'll be able to go fishing on the water I honestly don't know but I'm confident for some reason.

      @TheFishingKit yeah I can believe that, on ebay $17 to buy 6 hooks and $38 to be shipped from the USA or from Singapore a couple of months to get here that's for up 30gm lures, what do you think Kit if I buy it and send it to you? Just let me know what sizes you want.

    Can this be done with the core of the hollow assist cord and if not how can i recycle it into something?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you technically can, i've tried it too, just don't like the result because its too soft and the cord itself isn't braided correctly so it comes apart. since you are cutting them into small pieces, there is very little you can do with them...I just throw them away.
