Alex, your really live up to the name "The Truth About Cars." While other reviewer only says this is the rebadged Civic. You gave the most honest review. Not just this car, but every car you reviewed. One of best reviewer i've seen, not just youtube, but all around, thank you
The lower peak torque is due to a dynamic intake runner like BMW's DISA valve. Air will take a longer path at lower RPM, and a shorter one at higher RPM.
Now that I'm saving for a new car, I was considering this alongside the Audi A3, until I went to both showrooms. The ILX feels faster and more responsive, it is more comfortable and it has TONS of standard features, which makes it cheaper. Also the ILX looks WAY better in person, since none of the sharp angles Acura added to spice up the thing show up on camera.
ElZamo92 Since you said saving. You have to know about this. When it comes to durability and maintenance, Acura is the way to go. Audi you will be frustrated when you start pouring on Audi. You need money when it comes to Audi. I wanted the Audi A7 but upon research its not worth for my budget
I know, my parents have had various Acuras and they have lived a long and comfortable life, plus the mantainance costs compared to the germans and americans is WAY lower.
Good review, this is a much improve car now, I think many present owners of the ILX would upgrade to the 2016 model and many new people would now consider buying this car. Finally some bling.
The 2.5L in the Mazda 3 is a 4 cylinder not a 5 cylinder, it's not a VW. Considering that a top of the line Mazda 3 maxes out about where the ILX starts I don't see them as that comparable.
Hi, I've driven both the 2017 Acura ILX ASpec 8-speed and the 2017 Mazda 3 sedan 6-speed auto. I can't decide between the two for point to point acceleration. I sensed the Mazda 3 is faster from idling rpm to about 30mph and the ILX wins the crown at the end of the line. I can really feel the Mazda push me more back to the seat from stop light. What do you guys think ? Cheers !!
What I do not understand is experiments Acura conduct with their models. Do you remember 2.3 Turbo engine in RDX? They did not use that engine anywhere else except RDX. Same is here, 8 speed robotic transmission used only with 2.4 engine and it seems Acura won’t use this transmission in future models. What’s the point?
Its a nice car, but those headlights look more like tail lights. And while it's got a nice engine, you can get a V6 Camry with more features and more power for about the same price.
+Chris Powell If you're quick to shift with the paddle shifters, 20 degrees Celsius outside and on level ground at sea level then you'll get 6.5 to 6.2 seconds no problem. That transmission surprisingly puts more power to the wheels than even a manual which is how this car gets a lot out of this engines power. I hope Honda/Acura uses this transmission more often and perfect it and put them in their V6 engines.
A dressed up Civic ...for 35k loaded. Why cant Honda make a 4 cyl with torque equal to its hp? 180 torque is TERRIBLE! The back end is ugly, especially the back bumper area.
Well, that's what you get with any luxury brand. Are you trying to say that Audis are dressed up Volkswagens, Cadillacs are dressed up Chevys, Lexuses are dressed up Toyotas? Because by your interpretation, that's exactly what they are.
+chop1234ification Exactly. Wow they are really off their game.

OK, let's see. A cramped car with funky headlights and a very pathetic zero to 60 time... And way too much cash for this junker.. Sorry Acura, there is a reason you are not selling much these days.. Honda should throw Acura in the junkyard.. 💩💩💩💩💩🚽

Just bought this car, it drives amazing. So much better than the tlx
Man, your test drive with you sitting outside the car in reverse is spooky!
Whats more spooky is seeing your face at dark nights

Best 2016 ILX review to date.

+ElZamo92 The back bumper is hideous. This is a dressed up Civic Si for over 30k!
***** I agree, the ILX is better than the Audi. But is that really saying much?
***** Ok, my mistake. I do think the ILX is the better of the 2 cars though. It certainly is more reliable and quicker.
I just bought one last Saturday I love it the amazing dual clutch transmission it actually shifts faster then Audis DSG
Is it treating still you good?
@@Pg-ch5nb we may never know... I was wondering this, too.
0-60 in 9.5 seconds? Were you going uphill, towing a trailer? That should be around 6.5 seconds.
He said 6.25 🤔
6:23 - 6.25

OMFG THE DRIVE POSISTION IS BONKERS I LAUGHED THE ENTIRE VID.
One of the best reviews i've seen in the past couple of years
Totaly agree.
Love your camera angles
This may be my next car.
Excellent review. I became a subscriber as soon as I finished the video.
Have a 2014 get the 16 on Friday the test drive blew my socks off!
Great review...have had this car for yrs...great daily driver
How much miles ? And how’s the DCT

This is the same guy who didn't like the 8-speed and preferred the 9 speed in the TLX lol
Awesome review. Was that a police officer at 6:07? You cut right on it.
is the driver seat still comfortable enough for longer drives, despite the lack of adjustable lumbar support?
narmizzle It's comfortable. Make sure you get Acurawatch package if you drive long distances. Adaptive cruse control is worth every penny.

How the speakers on the base models?
Loved the review!
Great editing

Honesty Counts Yeah...but who wants a camry?
Will a family fit comfortably on this
Much better than the first gen ILX
This is still the first gen
Great review
I'm confused! Why does he have The Truth About Cars and Alex on Autos?
He does not
@@seattledude2022 lmao, not anymore 😂😂😂
@@ashwinthiagarajan2650 shame on the channel which just steal Alex’s video
@@seattledude2022 no lol
The Truth About Cars was the original channel that Alex was hosting. Now it's Alex On Autos.
@@ashwinthiagarajan2650 Shocked. Seems you are right. Wow, so difficult to believe this.
Oh, I see you later say it's 6.25 sec. Not bad at all for a non-dedicated sports-orientated vehicle! :)
Still not sure if I should get this car or a 2016 civic coupe :/
This car is more attractive to the ladies bruh :)
Get the civic 4 door, it looks better than the coupe. Get black or white then tint the windows as dark as you can.
Alex? This must be your old channel. LOL Oddly enough, this 2015 video may have just convinced me to buy the ILX A-Spec.
9.25 0-60 number is incorrect for this car. It's in 7s.
The place you put your camera while driving was ridiculous
As always, great review, lost me a wee on the pricing, way too specific.
Did you experience 0-60 in 9.25 sec like you graphic suggests? I thought Acura claimed 6.5 sec or so?
Also... fantastic review.

ACURA NEEDS TO STOP PLAYING AND MAKE A DAM INTEGRA AGAIN
Is this safer than Subaru Legacy?
Just got one love it!
AAHHH 5:28 Total mind fuck
Thats my favorite honda interior but better looking on the ILX.
Not true, HID high beams. The rest are LEDs
Wow, you're good at driving backwards
You said 0-60 in 6.5 seconds but the notes to the left said 9.5 seconds which is correct ?
Marc G 6.5. It was a typo. There is no way in hell that this gets the same 0-60 rating as a corolla.
0-60 in 6.25 seconds with the 201 horsepower engine.
This is what's called a Nintendo DS infotainment lol
it has to be faster than 0to60 9.25 sec
Alex H In Alex on Autos video it was 6.25 so they must of just accidentally flipped it to a 9.
0-60 in 9.25 seconds..that can't be right?
It's a rehash of the 2012 Civic. It's an idiot mobile, and at $30,000? Give me a break.
0-60 in 9.25 seconds? That can't be right, it's got 201 hp... :)
+TassieLorenzo i heard 6.25
+TassieLorenzo That's probably a misprint. Should be around 6.2-6.5 sec's.
Thats is so wrong mine do 6 sec flat to 0 to 60 they have shity drivers i gues lol
Zzzzzzz. Wake me up when Honda decides to make interesting cars again...
Good design. Durable engine, but it's too expensive, cheap plastic, too loud, and very poor infotainment system.
9.25 to 60 mph. That's horrible
A dressed up Civic ...for 35k loaded. Why cant Honda make a 4 cyl with torque equal to its hp? 180 torque is TERRIBLE! The back end is ugly, especially the back bumper area.

It's the internet, what did you expect
Those rims just scream 'civic'... so ugly
The wheels are ugly!
interior is ugly and dated
