I once talked to Adam and said "I started following you when I saw Life as a House" and he told me they rarely hear that. Good to know I wasn't the only one.
@@amycowardin4253 Hayden Christensen was nominated for a Golden Globe for Life as a House, but sadly he didn’t get it. If you ask me, he was cheated! That man can ACT!
This is such a tremendous and underrated band. Catchy songs, smart and thoughtful lyrics combine with wonderful harmonics to grab the ear and never let go.
About a dozen years ago I commented on the Guster website that 'What You Wish For' is (and always will be) among my Top Five favorite songs ever, and that I had been in a fairly popular rock band in New York for several years (back in the 1960's), so tend to recognize and appreciate a really great song when I hear it. A few days later I received an emailed response (from Adam Gardiner, I think) saying that he'd read my comments to the other band members, and the huge smiles by all of them at the same time didn't occur often, so was certainly a joy for all of them to share. P.S. Not in my Top Five songs anymore, guys......(Actually, today it's among my Top Three).
yeah... you can't fuck with this song. was having a rough morning. haven't heard this song in years. remembered it, put it on--BAM! pep inserted into step.
Just saw these guys in Park City! Nice pants! Loved the show and the band is super cool. Cool guys, cool tunes, songs soaked in nostalgia and happiness! Perfect summer night!
I only had three of your CDs but I think I know just about every song by a heart I played them over and over and I just recorded your song careful today
I was just going through the 400 DVD's on my Sony 400 DVD player and I pulled up a Movie called, "*Life as a House* "(which I must have ripped about 240 years ago and never watched--- this tune is at the beginning of that Movie. The movie definitely starts off---off-beat and I just took to this immediately--enough to google the lyrics and track it down. There's something about it I really like--well several things actually, the close harmonies ("(Repeat after me just a little bit closer)"...are wonderful. The instruments devised innovative. There's a bit of a raw edge musically, critical vocal register shift to high cracks every-time--probably by design (the high harmonies are very pure) it all just WORKS. Many rifts and turns unfold just off center--it catches us leaning the other way and does mildly surprise us (as per the lyrics) AND, amuses and delights us. Totally love this thing. And yeah I write songs for whatever that's worth.
Omg I just heard the band Guster refered to on Family Guy. I haven't listened to this album in years. This is one album I've truly loved every song on. Really takes me back. 💖
I love the part around 1:08 where they all sing different asides and then they all sing “on and on” as a chorus. Great song and great band. First heard it watching “life as a house “
I love this song !! It gives me such a happy feeling ! And it never gets old . I literally heard this since I was 9 years old and here I am still loving it 😄 ! It’s so beautiful
I played you to try to help me sleep but I find myself singing all the words to every song so I'm going to have to have no music tonight unless I can have some really soft something I'll find something cuz I like to sleep to music but I'm so tired I don't need it tonight but I'm going to finish this song at least
Woke up today To everything gray And all that I saw Just kept going on and on Sweep all the pieces under the bed Close all the curtains and cover my head And what you wish for Won't come true You aren't surprised love Are you? If this serenade (Repeat after me just a little bit closer) Is not what you want (And do what I say caught up in a lie) It just how it is (It won't change a thing got a little bit colder) It keeps going on and on Come out come out wherever you are Would you do it all over Right from the start? And what you wish for Won't come true You aren't surprised love Are you? And what you wish for Won't come true You aren't surprised love Are you? Once had this dream Crashed down in Oz Not black and white But where the colors are I never dreamed that I could let it go And I will get What I deserve Sweep all the secrets under the bed Open the curtains forget what I said And what you wish for Could come true You act surprised, love Are you?
aye yo I just bought a grab bag of 5 random cd's at rocking' Rudy's and all the other cd's where kinda shit (sorry lol), but then this album was in there. an instant vibe I like it.

Once had this dream
Crashed down in Oz
Not black and white
But where the colors are
I never dreamed that
I could let it go
And I will get
What I deserve
Sweep all the secrets
under the bed
Open the curtains
forget what I said
And what you wish for
Could come true
You act surprised, love
Are you?
