I'm here for the NF Journey, but *please* watch the original videos; NF is a very visual storyteller, and you'll find a great deal of symbolism in his videos. As others have suggested, you could pull up lyrics on another screen, or... if you insist on watching the lyric video, then you could go back and watch the real music video next -- we'll stay with you for both listens! #nfrealmusic
I will say from a psychology perspective the lyrics are important but just know that the videos almost have just as much info in them. NF and his videographer make very cinematic videos that have a lot of small details to catch. I'm super excited to watch your journey. I have been an NF fan for roughly 10 years.
Subscribing and here for the NF Journey! My mother is a Private Independent Therapist. As a side note, anytime there is a video, it is crucial to watch it in the journey. There's so much symbolism and years of planned brilliance in the videos. I highly highly recommend pulling up the lyrics on "Genius" and following along via the video, pausing to dissect and discuss, at your leisure. Good job and excellent breakdowns! Hopefully, this helps.
So glad to see your reactions again. Loving the breakdowns. I understand NF may rap fast at times but his videos carry so much symbolism and easter eggs, try not to miss them. Look forward to more.
Subbed to see the journey. I love 99.9% of his music, really looking forward to your reaction to Story. That song still gives me goosebumps when it randomly comes up on one of my playlists. I also really really love when I grow up.
Thank you Dr. Nic! I am here for it. I am sure a lot more will jump on board if you keep it in order. You will catch the unfolding storyline that evolves from album to album. Let's go! No stop! You have to watch the videos! Just pull up the lyrics on your phone or something. The videos have symbolism that follow the story. NF is dangerous because he is carving out a lane that doesn't cuss or speak about negative things. You are right that is why he is dangerous. I heard a rumor that he was doing electrician work while he was doing this. Not sure about that, in the song "When I Grow Up' we see him as a Trash Collector, Janitor, and Fast Food Worker. He also mentions in Real how he only had $200 in his bank account and he needs to pay rent. He says in another song he was making about $9,000 a year.
NF is brilliant! Thank you for this! I can’t wait for more to come. He is a visual and lyrical genius who takes you on incredibly intense journey. He expresses himself beautifully and explains things that many people cannot find the words for. 🔥
I love when my algorithm knows I want to see someone do the journey! U got a sub from me! Let’s go! Oh I was already subbed! 2mo ago! Glad ur finally doing more then!
Let me suggest a band of sisters called The Warning. Their lyrics have been used in an abnormal psychology class and have been analyzed by a philosophy professor. Their _Queen of the Murder Scene_ is a concept album that traces the descent of a young woman from unrequited love to obsession, stalking, and murder. Then her evil side tries to take over, resulting in a split personality (and more murders), and ending when her conscience re-emerges as the Grim Reaper to take her life. Their newest album, _Error,_ addresses such current topics as the "truths" that are bought and sold on social media, the dangers of artificial intelligence, the lab-induced evolution of humanity, and criticism of Gen Z (of which they are part). Or the title track of their first album, _XXI Century Blood,_ has a multiple-award winning video on our obsession with social media, to the extent that a non-participant is a nonentity.
Oh and I don’t have the words to tell you how this journey has changed my perspective on how I view my life as a husband of 21years now and a father of 2 and just as a person sir, very much enjoy your analysis of NF!
i do want to caution you. you can have lyrics on another screen or something but please do not watch lyric videos of everything. some of these official videos are critical to watch. especially therapy session, how could you leave us, wake up., real, outcast outro. his videos are all connected like marvel movies
yeah the order is important. you don't have to do every song. here is a basic guide if it helps. i think you did mansion already. then do wake up, notepad, paralyzed, intro 2, therapy session how could you leave us, real, Oh Lord, outro(yes outro must be before intro 3, then intro 3, outcast, green lights, destiny. let you down. that's it for now. that is the minimum i would say for the journey up to that point.
You're right, you'll see the situation with his mother in "How could you leave us". Interestingly enough this wasn't the first reference to that you've seen. In Mansion he says "I look around, one of the worst things I wrote on these walls Was the moment I realized that I was losing my mom One of the first things I wrote was, 'I wish I woulda called' But I should just stop now, we ain't got enough room in this song"
My personal take on this song is NF is a Christian and the "Industry" was trying to pigeon-hole NF into making Christian music. He didn't see himself as a Christian artist so he is saying don't tell me this isn't real. His take was he is a Rapper who happens to be a Christian just like we don't see a plumber doing work and call him or her a Christian plumber. "This Hip-Hop is in my blood, if you cut me I will bleed it."
As a note as you progress through the Journey, yes NF sings, but also any voice you hear distorted is him! Unless it specifically features an artist the voices you hear are his, he loves to manipulate his voice to get the sound he hears in his head!
Just subbed here as an Outcast ,. I’m here for the journey. You won’t regret it.

NF is special and yet relatable. Thank you for your insights.

I second this request! The Warning is awesome 🤘!
You can't go wrong with The Warning. Everything about them is exceptional.
Just subbed! Great reaction! Can't wait to continue this journey. Wonderful breakdowns.
My nf friend! Man I literally watch every second of your nf videos sir! Just saying subbed for more nf and await your next review in anticipation!!

how could you leave us is a super emotional song about is mom

Agree completely, the video is as if not more important.
each album is far better than the previous ones.

Watch this track with the video on your own. Powerful.
Def watch the videos a lot of symbolism and works of art

General rule of thumb when reacting: always rewind 5-10 seconds before hitting play again. You can miss some flows and messages!
He was an electrician
