This is the second-highest minimum term ever given in the UK (a whole-life term not being within the judge's remit). Bear in mind that almost everybody officially involved in this court case - prosecution, defence, court staff, judge - will be dead by the time this criminal is even considered for release and those reviewing his case then (The Parole Board) are probably not-yet born or are children themselves today, then one can better-visualise the length of his minimum gaol-term. But I suspect a parole board is very unlikely to release this man and he is (because of his age on conviction) probably facing a longer minimum gaol-term than any other prisoner in the UK - even those with whole-life terms, because they have potentially fewer years to live ahead of themselves.
