The thing is, black culture as we know it in the UK was really curated by Caribbean people who came over to the UK after WW2. They came to help rebuild the UK due to a post-war labour shortage. They are called the Windrush generation. So a lot of black British slang or tbh, British slang in general comes from them which is why we say things like ‘wag1’ or ‘peng’. Trendsetters.

There is no black culture. There’s individual cultures like Jamaican or Nigerian (Jamaicans aren’t all black either. Native Jamaicans aren’t black).
The US started this whole ‘black culture’ because a lot of them don’t know their own lineage. But it’s just a self aggrandising circle jerk supremacy.
Even the fact this comment will get comments like
‘This ain’t pass the vibe check’
Or
‘He ain’t invited to the cookout’
With others saying
‘Wow I love us’ etc, this comment has no malice in it. I love a lot of black cultures, not everything within every culture, but there’s great things in all cultures.
@Burner-td4cu Aren't all cultures created by a group of people? Even ancestral cultures were once a budding set of norms created by the people who needed them, right? If we're talking about a rigid, homogeneous set of norms that stays the same across the globe and over hundreds or thousands of years without change, then I guess there's no such thing as culture at all. You only have to look at migration patterns of different groups of ppl to see how and why cultures change over time. Of course Black ppl in the US created our own flavor of Black culture - our families literally weren't allowed to practice the original culture they came from. And while that may be different in some ways to the culture of Black ppl across the planet, there are certainly similarities that persist within them all. How that equals self-aggrandizing, I can't understand. Is that not the nature of all cultures everywhere?
@Burner-td4cu I suggest, that you don't try to Burna boy this. Stand on business... you said what you said. Black American culture is known all over the world and emulated, so there is in fact Black culture. There's also diasporic culture. It sounds like you should get into sociology.
