Southwest is always my first choice! If a fare drops, they’ll refund the difference. If I need to change a flight, I can without fees. And with free checked bags, you don’t end up with boarding clogged up with gate checking bags because bins are full. And you haven’t flown until you’ve had one of their comedians doing the safety talk. They make everything easy.
I got to experience how fast Southwest's boarding is with my own two eyes. I remember I was flying out of San Diego last year and there was a spirit flight at the gate right next to us and they were scheduled to depart at 6:50 AM and we were scheduled to depart at 6:40 AM and I remember they started boarding the spirit flight 10 minutes before we began boarding and then we pulled out a minute or two early. I would like to say that the Spirit flight was still boarding when we were pulling out. I am sure the pressure of being at the gate on time and to get on the plane swiftly to pick the seat that you want helps a lot. The 2 free checked bags also help because not as many people have a carry on item where they gotta take stuff out or put stuff in it in the middle of the aisle during boarding slowing it down to a halt. Southwest tends to have more empty overhead bin space because they don't charge extra to check bags. As someone who absolutely despises fees and hates waiting for slow people boarding the plane, Southwest is definitely the airline for me. (P.S. I wouldn't recommend flying southwest out of San Diego because the terminal Southwest flies out of sucks, a lot of time TSA precheck is closed and I remember I had to wait in the regular TSA line just for them to open precheck right when I got up to the front (so frustrating). There are hardly any restaurants or shops or barely any place to walk around in Terminal 1, so if you fly out of Terminal 1 I would advise against getting through security early as you will be bored. I flew United out of Terminal 2 a few years ago and Terminal 2 is much better, had no complaints with that.)
Thanks for sharing your story of Southwest boarding. Agreed. I love the efficiency. And the good news is that Terminal 1 where Southwest Flies is getting torn down and completely rebuilt. Should be really nice when it's done
Thanks for reminding us to check back on the price of a flight if you’ve already booked it. Checked our SW upcoming reservations after this live stream and was able to rebook them and save 14,000 miles and $56!
this was the coolest video ever. i enjoyed this alot. you need to do a podcast show. you have a great personality. thank you for all the info. this is my 3rd time flying and i enjoy your tips.
I would like to add that Southwest has been wonderful to my daughter and I when we travel across the country to go to her food allergy appointments. Southwest lets us board early to wipe down her area and keep her safe. It’s so scary to travel with food allergies!
We always fly Southwest when we go from Omaha to Las Vegas. We've never had an issue with them. We always just have carry-on and personal bag and love not having to deal with baggage check or lost luggage that I've done with other airlines.
I only fly southwest for flights under 2 hours out of Burbank. Anything longer I use Delta at LAX. No food on the flight and no lounges in the terminal
You should always ask when boarding if it’s a full flight. Especially if you’re boarding early, good defense to have somebody not sit in the middle row is to rummage through your bag that sitting on the middle seat when people walk by it does work to keep them movingbut not 100% of the time
If you’re flying solo, and want to have a good chance of keeping the middle seat open, choose one of the least desirable people sitting by the window, for example, and take the seat. Sounds crazy, but it works.
We live in Lubbock Tx (panhandle area) & I find I have to book separate flights a lot. One here to Dallas and 2nd to wherever. It kinda stinks cuz unless you get an agent that knows what they are doing when we leave, we have to get luggage at stopover town - easy w/carry on only, but I have to travel w/a wheelchair so I check luggage. I will say they have the BEST handicap assistance though! Over AA, Delta or United… AA being way way worse! SW always have chairs ready curbside and (of course I do sign up for assistance) they are on the walkway on arrival waiting for you. Pre-boarding for assistance is nice too cuz I can’t walk far, so 1-3rd rows about as far as I can go.
I LOVE Southwnest :) I mean if someone is that adamant of flying "first" or "business class" then spend the extra two thousand dollars, if you have it. I love being able to pick my seat. And not having to pay extra to sit in a window or an aisle, ect. Or having to pay for my carry on luggage, drinks, ect.
I dread when Southwest is the best option for my needs of a particular trip. Terrible seating, no real business class, and the cattle herding boarding process is the absolute worst. So happy Breeze is becoming a major player in my area. I would fly them over Southwest any day!
How to change your flight: Pull up your flight, click the change button, select a flight you want to change, select the exacting flight you already have, and it will tell you all the flights for that day and which ones cost more and which ones will cost less. If yours is less, select it.
I live in Atlanta, and used to drive to Birmingham to take my beloved SWA. Trying to remember what year it was when a FA told me, "Oh, we'll never fly out of Atlanta." My next SWA flight is a few months away. . .and there won't be any drive to Birmingham necessary. 😊
Each leg of a flight counts towards a flight for A list? Not sure that’s correct… unless there’s a miles minimum? I’m always just under making A list every year 🙄
Southwest route network is very much like the legacy carries were before deregulation of the airline industry in the United States in the late 1970s with a mixture of non-stop and direct flights mostly using a point to point network rather than a hub spoke network.
Southwest also just have (essentially) ONE class of service. United.Delta, Alaska, American (🤮) have multiple classes of service AND status programs. You cannot compare the boarding-process of these legacy-airlines, with the Southwest/Spirit-style airlines.
In the last few years the "Early Bird Select" isn't really worth the extra money that it used to be. Always got in group A or front of group B. Not any longer. People have caught on. 24 hour check in is even worse.
This dosent make any sense in so many ways !!! Last time I went to Tuscon in 2016 I sat next to a passenger going to Las Vegas from Australia he did not come from la he had Australia money on him he got off in Vegas and I continued on to Tucson!! People don’t like kids on planes anyway and now your talking about special privileges TOTAL BS!!!
Flying SW for first time in a few weeks....perfect timing, thanks!

Southwest is best choice for Hawaii. So simple and convenient.
Not a big Southwest fan myself - but definitely appreciate the great info + video!
Southwest is always our first choice🥸

This is very helpful thankyou! I'm from England and have booked Southwest from Burbank to Las Vegas, I'm looking forward to trying this airline!
great presentation
Thanks!
Glad I was able to catch the replay. Great info to know that you have to enter a code for the bday sale
Thanks Laura!

Thanks for the video. Actually changed my flight to mon-stop because of a 40 minute connection window in Denver to Las Vegas
Going to Hawaii in on swa in January
Aloha!
I really need to check them out some day.

California Linda shares great video as we always fly Southwest flying domestically. Internationally, we use United or Delta from the States.🛩
Thanks California Linda!
Thank you your information about S.W.A. Its going be my first flight in November I want to travel south west

Great to hear Sandy!

Can't go longer than two hours without eating 🙄
You can bring your own food on the flight.
@@deemcty5516 rather save money and not spend it on expensive airport food.
@@jonnieinbangkok Nope. I workout and need to keep my gains

I see that a lot
I love southwest
One of the only airlines that has onboard hot chocolate! I'll get it everytime.
Oooh. I'll have to try that next time

Hey, listen and A-list Preferred# you do not need to check in, they automatically check you in at 24 hours before your flight

Breeze has business class for as low as $50 extra sometimes and seats are comparable to the legacy carriers' ones
I'm pretty sure there is a thing called earlybird that checks you in automatically so you don't have to worry about checking in
Yes. You have to pay more for it of course 😀

You can change who your companion is. There is a limit, once or twice a year, but it can be changed
If you upgrade your seats flying from Sacramento to phil change plans twice got charged 192$

Pull up your flight, click the change button, select a flight you want to change, select the exacting flight you already have, and it will tell you all the flights for that day and which ones cost more and which ones will cost less. If yours is less, select it.
How's Jet Blue and Alaska airlines low budget flights compare to SW?????

Always get early bird!! I have southwest chosen with my Amex platinum, so it gets refunded
Southwest does not codeshare with other airlines, should you get stuck or flight cancels.
Good point!
Delta airlines is considered the TOP domestic airlines in the U.S. and is also pretty decent internationally.

Golf clubs also fly free provided they are under 50 pounds
If you signed up for TSA pre check you won’t ever have SSSS on your boarding pass
Please know the facts before posting. SSSS overrides any program!

I don't like about Southwest Airlines is no seating assignment.
It's not 8 dollars per flight I never paid on the way way back
Living in Asia, I've never had the "privilege" of flying SW Airlines...all the low cost airlines here have assigned seat boarding 😂 😂 😂
Hah
If your flight is ever delayed, always order alcohol, they never charge you, but they don’t advertise it.
The sooner you book, early bird, the lower number you will have. Don’t wait to buy earlybird as you will wait to get on the plane.
I Would NEVER ride Spirit -
