    Thank you so much for filming this, it settled my mums worries about changing between the two stations with Moorgates escalators being under maintenance so the journey at ground level not being possible for her. ❤❤❤

    I came back from Hadley Wood to Moorgate on the Great Northern 'ayup laddie' rail line today,discovering the connection to the Lizzie line when i arrived,and it was so much shorter and easier than via the Northern underground line that this subterranean country walk..I've been told theres step free access from Northern line to Lizzie line,so might check it out,especially for my elderly parents sake

    Knew this was gonna be a long one from seeing the title lol 😂😂. Walked down that corridor for the first and last time yesterday after work at Paddington - I also work on the new line!

    It's quite interesting to see how they have managed to connect up Moorgate and Liverpool Street, as well as Barbican and Farringdon stations together with passageways.
    Although personally, I would prefer the walk at street level between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, especially after getting off a National Rail train, since the Finsbury Circus Gardens is along the route.

      Because the crossrail platforms are so long, it makes total sense to link the 2 stations into 1. Going from the Northern line to the Elizabeth line via the street would take much longer and would be far less practical

    • @ianmcclavin
      @ianmcclavin ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you still have that choice, but providing two exits at each, one at either end of the platforms, made sense for convenience.

    I went on the northern,bakerloo,Elizabeth,TfL rail and the central line. It was 54 degrees down on the central line!

    Good to see the Northern Line back in service via Bank. As the new southbound platform is completed.

    What a nice interchange long tunnel from Northern to Elizabeth Line the New Train!

  • @billyellow4849

    Missed this route, going from Elizabeth to Northern yesterday. Followed signs up 2 long escalators to Moorgate T/O, then (Northern Line down escalator being closed) down 2 escalators via National Rail platforms.
    Then, saw the 'secret passageway' which this video details...

    So I wonder which is quickest
    1. The change you have just done
    2. Walking at street level between Moorgate and Liverpool St ( Elizabeth line)
    3. Getting on a Circle/ Metropolitan line train at Moorgate and changing to Elizabeth line at Liverpool St
    In all cases starting and finishing at the midpoint on each platform. Perhaps one for Geoff Marshall?
    The change to/from Liverpool St to Moorgate would be useful when it is raining! ( Even if you don’t need the Elizabeth line)

    • @grassytramtracks
      @grassytramtracks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The platform is the platform, wherever you are on it. It would be quicker to stay underground because then you don't need to go up and down the escalators to the street and you can plan to make sure you're in the right part of the train

    • @ianmcclavin
      @ianmcclavin ปีที่แล้ว

      I should imagine catching the Circle Line train one stop, although if you're on the Elizabeth Line at Liverpool Street requiring the Northern Line (or the Northern City Line), then it's best to exit via the Moorgate entrance, and go direct to your service from there. It's very useful, same at Farringdon/Barbican.

      @grassytramtracks ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thedeep3759not really though, the platforms are so long for crossrail that it's not far from Moorgate. It takes you to the end far from Liverpool Street. To get to the mainline station or Central line at Liverpool Street that's a long walk still to get to the other end of the platform

    Green Park Station 2.0. Infamous interchange between Jubilee and Piccadilly line

    • @ianmcclavin
      @ianmcclavin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always go via the ticket hall at Green Park to transfer to or from the Piccadilly Line from or to the Victoria Line or the Jubillee Line, much quicker!! (Stay at "low level" between the Jubilee and Victoria Lines though).

      @@ianmcclavin by his own admission, Geoff Marshall, just spread it round to test if it would propagate. When he came to actually test it, if you walk on the escalator, it's only very slightly quicker than the corridors though ease on the legs is a perfectly valid point in favour of going up and down the escalators

    Hi - can you advise me if there is step-free access between the Elizabeth Line at Liverpool St stn and the Northern Line at Moorgate stn, ie can I take a lift from platform level to the tunnel and vice-versa without using any steps at all?

      Yes, there is step free access to all Elizabeth line stations and the Northern line at Moorgate 8s step free too (there are lifts to and from this passageway - one continues all the way to the other lines at Moorgate)

    Crossrail platform design is really bland, it doesn't have much of a wow factor. So much white concrete, lack of differing designs. But then again I feel it wasn't designed to look aesthetically pleasing, it was designed to have more of an identity which would probably make it easier for the crossrail to have a high status in the long run if it does it's job.
