Just a random thought, if a person is in a field where he is needed on ground and he is doing good there.
Is it actually worth developing a new skillset in a field just because WFH/WFA can be possible there?

I personally would highly recommend that - that time investment is totally worth it since having that WFH/WFA option means you can decide to potentially spend more time with family and/or travel as you like in the near future. Plus, any job that can be done from home can also be done from the office, so you can always revert if you feel more comfortable that way. 10/10 - go for it!

Out of curiosity, in your opinion, how does a WFA hiring help out a company? As compared to a remote job?
And would that explain why most companies don't offer that (other than the obvious reason of the demand of the role itself)

      That's a nice way of thinking 👏
The key benefit I've observed is that they're not restricted to a locality but rather have a much wider net for the applicants pool, so they can add "strict" requirements and get much more qualified leads in the job applications. Come to think of it, in most cases - companies that hire for WFA roles actually can't hire people as "employees" in most cases, and have to classify them as contractors even if it is not time-bound. From the company's perspective.. that's a major cost savings (they don't have to cover benefits, and other such stuff )
