Hey Dallas, I’m a diver also and I’ve found/returned a few phones. What I’ve found works best is using Siri to call some contacts for me, since you don’t need to unlock the phone or have the original SIM card for Siri to access the phones contacts. I’ll use simple terms like Call Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Husband. Eventually if those don’t work I will start to get more elaborate with the name guessing. Hope this helps you in the future!
Hey Derek thanks for the comment! This works great when the phone is still powered on when it’s found, but it doesn’t work for phones that powered off, right?
@@ManPlusRiver I think what he means is that after you do the process of dehydrating and charging the phone, before trying to fiddle with the SIM card, you could ask Siri to text or call a family member. Hope this could help.
The best thing about this channel is the reactions of people who get their stuff back. Most often phones, but today we also saw reading glasses. I love it!
Throughout the video, everytime you showed a drone shot of a neighborhood, all I could think of was Mr. Rogers...now I can't stop the theme song in my head. Sigh. 😃
I'm still loving this style of video ! the instant gratification of the phone returns is killer , i cant keep track but it seems like the iphones have a high success rate of making it home. keep it up , i love seeing your videos pop up in my notifications !
What is the most, terrifying 'at the moment' encounter with a living thing while you were diving? Not the most terrifying living thing, just the one that startled you the most.
What you do for people who have lost things in the water is so heartwarming!!! I know that man was glad to get his glasses bc i wear glasses too and i know the pain of not being able to see bc of lost glasses.😊 Wish there were more people like you bc the world needs more ppl like you!!! Stay safe and cant wait until the next video!!
Wonder if a Chase branch would be more helpful or you would just have to put the card back in the case, shove the phone in their slot, run away and hope they return it LOL
Hi Dallas I love your videos and I have watched your videos since I was little. I love the peoples reactions when you give there phones back to them. Keep up the good work. 😀
My daughter lost her phone today floating the comal. It is located between the 2nd to last and last bend before the texas tubes exit. Its in a clear seal bag.
So, I notice you keep using the desiccant trick for the phones. There is an easier and more effective way. Try a cheap food dehydrator like the Elite Gourmet EFD319BNG. Set the temp at 110F and leave it in for a few days. The hot air flow dries everything out much quicker and you can use it for making jerky and banana chips when you're not drying phones out.
Love your videos! I've been watching since 2020 and you're one of the people that got me interested in metal detecting. I even had a little underwater metal detector when I lived near the ocean that was like the one you had!
Hey Dallas, you always find a lot of interestin things, you must be proud of the great service you do for people & the environment. Thanks for another awesome video!
3:34 haha! You got it all wrong. The reason why the nail polish is looking like that is because it has not moved in a bit. To fix how it looks you just gotta shake it a bit then your good to go! 😂❤
The best way to get your lost phone back is the emergency ID. A good alternative is by naming your phone with your email address. If you plug an iPhone in to iTunes it will show you the name of the device. If it happens to be your email address then you can track the owner down
Hey I just found your channel recently as I was looking online because I had lost my sports camera last year, but love to see your content keep up the amazing work!
If you find a locked iPhone 14 Pro without a SIM card, you can take it to a carrier phone store, which may be able to identify the owner. You can also try asking Siri who the phone belongs to. The owner may have put the phone into lost mode, which displays a message with contact information.
Do you have any recommendations for not necessarily cheep but less expensive detection equipment? There's a place near where I live that I want to explore but I can't afford $1,000 gear.
I'd advise looking up the model of the device before trying to open it up looking for things that might not exist. That first phone might have survived with trying a new battery before you butchered it. Love the content.
go try to use that debit card and you'll find the owner real fast lol, even better though contact your local Police where you found it. they can run the name and find the owner, and they will because its for a legitimate purpose to return found property. Might be hard without a date of birth, but worth a try.
Amazing video, I love metal detecting and finding lost items, thanks for being an inspiration to me and so many others. Why did you decide to become a diver?
I just recently found out that a lot of newer iPhones don't have actual SIM cards anymore. My immediate thought after finding that out was that you were going to have a hard time finding the owners of these phones now. :(

one thing, when it comes to drying phones out, PLEASE use silica gel packets. they are way more absorbent and don't get into places.
