They could offense religious people, since they are outspoken atheists (e.g. "I'm Not Made By Design"). Unperson hints to the theme of their new album that has a dystopian vibe, there are 1984 references also in the lyrics ("We're getting sick/Of your doublethink "). I highly recommend to check out the lyrics of this song.
We meant more in the sense of just listening to them, in terms of their style and delivery being accessible by most fans of music. It wasn’t meant literally offensive in regard to lyrical content. But yeah, great lyricist and songwriters.
And yet they are pretty underrated, just look at the number of views they get compared to mainstream "music". I am a huge fan, listened to every single song they released, including the bonus tracks of the Japan album. They are my "unicorn" band. They do not have one song that I don't like or feels like a filler song to an album. My personal unicorn albums list does not have 10 titles yet, half of them consist in everything NBT released. Saw them live once and it was an experience, oh boy. To see the tiny person that Conor is opening his mouth and sing with THAT voice live is unforgettable.
