I don't really get why every thinks it's so uncomfortable, it's just funny randomness. I don't see how this is any worse than something like Courage the Cowardly Dog.
It makes me think of when I was a kid and would spend an entire week hand-drawing a maze for a friend, but the start and end were directly connected. You could actually beat it by drawing a 1-inch line. But there was a hugely complex maze that was beatable all around it. To me this idea was fascinating, and it compares to the idea of finishing a genius romhack like this with a deliberately horrible "non-ending" where it falls on its face. It's just so hilariously deflating and subversive! But that's just me. I like weird isht.

I think we'll see some indie games inspired by the mechanics of this hack in a year or two. It's a really creative blend of lateral thinking puzzle solving and platforming. The only trick would be to find a way to do it as an original IP, but surely there are people creative enough to find a way to do that. It's fantastic.

The music for the lava world at 15:10 is a remix of Hot Drinks, a song created for an old Wendy's training video. I STRONGLY recommend checking it out, it absolutely slaps.

Personally I really enjoy seeing chat since it can give the same vibes as lurking in a stream (i.e. more inclusive than just watching a YT video). I think it might be worth a shot for a video or two and see how people like it, but obviously you're in charge and I'll watch either way

I don't know how it's setup, but a speedrunner going by the moniker ZFG uses it to add twitch chat to his VODs that are uploaded to TH-cam. You need to have said browser plugin to make use of the functionality, and I imagine only a small fraction would use it, but it would retain the fact that chat is still not present for people who prefer it that way, and people who want it could use the plugin and get what they want too! EDIT: thinking about it, I'm not sure if it would work with a cut and edited video, but figured it was at least worth a mention

There's a strong resistance to publishing reverification of other studies too. That's supposed to be an important part of double checking work to guard against only publishing statistically significant results(which can lead to things that don't work looking like they do because 5% of the time it does by luck but if only those 5% are published then it gives a false impression of success).
