They first went viral (now ~26 million views) with a straight cover of 'Enter Sandman' when they were 14, 12, and 9 (!). This version (without the string section) is on Metallica's _Blacklist_ album. They've also done 'Atlas, Rise' and various other covers when they were younger. The only thing recently is Alanis Morrisette's 'You Oughta Know'.
@@TheLionsReactionYes, when they did the original they were kids 9, 12 and 14. The one for the black list they were older right now I can't remember the ages at that time but someone will chime in.
@@TheLionsReaction Yea, they were kids when they did their first cover of this song (Ale, on bass was only 9 at the time). They did a straight cover at that time and it went viral. Ironically, it went full circle! Metallica asked them to reimagine it - play it any way they wanted, just don't change the lyrics for their 30 year tribute to the Black album being released (They called this tribute 'The Blacklist') and The Warning is track one, also featuring Alisia Cara, a Canadian vocalist.
This performance of "Enter Sandman" by The Warning was special with the addition of a string ensemble, which is not how it’s usually performed live. Metallica asked The Warning to cover the iconic track in collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara for "The Metallica Blacklist" album, celebrating the 30th anniversary of "The Black Album" in 2021. According to Lars Ulrich, they told all the bands involved, "Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it." The collaboration between The Warning and Alessia came together in just 10 days. Producer Matt Squire flew to Monterrey to work with the band directly, while Alessia recorded her parts remotely from Canada due to COVID restrictions. The Warning approached the project with the goal of making the song uniquely theirs. They removed the original riff, incorporated a "creepy lullaby" vibe, and emphasized the haunting "Hush Little Baby" section, with Alessia’s harmonies adding an ethereal layer to the arrangement. The official music video features Alessia as a projection since she couldn’t travel to Mexico due to COVID restrictions. During live performances of the song, when Alessia is not present, her "whoa, whoa" vocals are included on the backing track to maintain the collaborative elements of the arrangement. The Warning’s history with "Enter Sandman" dates back to 2014, when Dany was 14, Pau was 12, and Ale was just 9. They recorded a straightforward cover of the song and uploaded it to TH-cam because the file was too large to email to their family. That video went viral and now has over 26 million views. Metallica's guitarist Kirk Hammett even tweeted, "the drummer kicks maximum ass!" The band performed their version of the song live with Alessia once as a special one-time event. Another memorable performance, without the string section, was at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022.

@@TheLionsReaction When they first played there as young teens the owner was so impressed that he gave them an open invitation to come and perform whenever they are near. Poor 13 year old Ale was so exhausted that she almost dropped her bass a few times but soldiered on like a veteran. No wonder her grip strength nowadays is hard enough to break apples with her bare hands!
The ‘fifth’ and ultimate version of The Warning’s cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman. In 2014 when Ale was 9, Pau was 12 and Dany at 14 years of age, they did a faithful cover of Enter Sandman in their basement for their grandparents. Kirk Hammett said that little Pau kicked maximum a$$! When they got older Metallica invited Alessia Cara and The Warning to rework Enter Sandman together for the Blacklist album. Keep the lyrics, but make the song their own. Alessia and TW did the MV separated by the pandemic. Alessia and TW did get one chance to perform together live on stage. Alessia could not be with them later on, so her haunting wails was a prerecorded background track. All these versions can be seen and enjoyed if you like.
Another young band you might want to check out is Freeze the Fall. They are young (still in high school) but very talented. They have one EP and are working on their 2nd EP (just released a song VHS from it). Their guitarist and lead vocalist was inspired to pick up the guitar by The Warning.

Thank you, I love The Warning’s reimagining of this iconic song. For a straight up cover and some insight into what kicked off this amazing journey for The Warning check out the original version they did as little girls. I’ve heard veteran bar bands barely do better.
I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale told as a haunting, dark lullaby. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one. The strings just make it even more special. I could myself very lucky to have been there at the Pepsi Center to experience this live.
Most of covers were they were ages 9, 12, 14: Muse: "Hysteria" and "Resistance"; Twisied Sister "We're Not Gonna Take It", and "Back in Black" where Pau sings lead age 12; GnR "Sweet Child O' Mine"; Metallica "Atlas Rise" (12, 15, 17) and "Enter Sandman" (9, 12, 14); Ozzy "Crazy Train" live at Liceo; Foo Fighters "Everlong" live at Liceo, and "The Pretender" (11, 13, 15) video The Warning Out of the Basement. All of these canfound on their YT channel by searching the song name. I would leave the links but the Great and Powerful Al Wizard of YuToob will delete the comment.
This was a collaboration with Alessia Cara and there was a video released of this with Alessia doing the first verse of the song. Metallica invited Alessia to do a cover of any song from their Black Album to be done for their 30th anniversary album Blacklist. Since Alessia is more of a pop singer, she contacted TW to help with the collaboration. Alessia and TW worked during the pandemic with Alessia in Canada and TW in Mexico on the song and it was done in a week and to be sent to Metallica for the song to be included on their Blacklist album. Metallica loved it and it is the first track on the album.
Others have mentioned their cover of You Outta Know on Sirius XM which sounds fantastic (check out the extra bass version too to really hear what Ale is doing on it), but they also did a version on French tv with Taratata that's on TH-cam as well. For other covers, Atlas Rise is amazing. So is their cover of Kickstart My Heart from their basement Warning Cave. You could go way back to their appearance on Ellen where they did Crazy Train as tiny kids. They've also done The Pretender and Hysteria a few times. All of those are pretty much straight covers.
It is not quite a full orchestra, as if I remember correctly from the full concert credits, they have only a string section of 6 violins, 2 violas & 2 cellos.
Hey, I think I know this song. lol. The song that Metallica went mainstream and got radio play with. In my humble opinion, also the Blacklist album version with featuring great pop singer Alessia Cara is worth of checking. There's official music video available.
Lion, you might have already noticed people writing "Las Wawas" in the coment section. For your information, Las Wawas are The Warning themselves, it is an affectionate nickname some of their fandom took to calling them because of a sequence from their official music video for their song "Que Más Quieres".
I like the version without the orchestra better for some reason. Usually I like orchestra mixed with Rock & Metal. I think Metallica has done shows with a full orchestra before.. And I think I liked it. 🌏✌️

It has since garnered well over 25 million views. This is the 2014 version of Enter Sandman: th-cam.com/video/1boUYB9LFJY/w-d-xo.html In 2021 Metallica asked 53 artists to take any of the 12 iconic songs from their Black album and do a cover (any way they wanted to) for their Black List album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Alessia Cara (Canadian pop star) was asked to participate but had no idea what to do. Because she shares the same management group as The Warning, she contacted them for help. It was difficult to do as Alessia was in Canada and The Warning were in Mexico and travel with COVID was not happening. They made it work and developed/recorded this completely re-imagined song in one week. They created the music video with the same logistical restrictions. Because of that you will see that Alessia appears as a projection on the wall in the video as she was not there. It was recorded in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico. Me too brother, Me too. It was absolutely amazing
DPA ~ TWA ~ UK
Yes! TWA forever brother
Yeah but they made it there own. Metallica fan or not, this is amazing
And their first ever song/cover. Kiss - God Gave Rock And Roll To You 2.
Foo Fighters - The Pretender; Metallica - Atlas,Rise; Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know; Muse - Hysteria........
Ive heard these are all amazing covers. They will be coming soon!
TE RECOMIENDO QUE VEAS ESTA CANCION EN LA PRESENTACION DEL TEATRO METROPOLITAN DE LA CIUDAD DE MEXICO, SIN LAS CUERDAS Y LA ESCUCHES MAS LIMPIA.
Muchas gracias
Queens of Rock. The 4th version of this, plus one cover. Wish i can tell you where to find them.
The undisputed queens
This was a collaboration with Alessia Cara and there was a video released of this with Alessia doing the first verse of the song. Metallica invited Alessia to do a cover of any song from their Black Album to be done for their 30th anniversary album Blacklist. Since Alessia is more of a pop singer, she contacted TW to help with the collaboration. Alessia and TW worked during the pandemic with Alessia in Canada and TW in Mexico on the song and it was done in a week and to be sent to Metallica for the song to be included on their Blacklist album. Metallica loved it and it is the first track on the album.
That white Gibson Explorer Dany is playing was given to her on stage mid-set by Lzzy Hale. Some clips here on TH-cam of that show.
TWA loves you too
We are all a family
Others have mentioned their cover of You Outta Know on Sirius XM which sounds fantastic (check out the extra bass version too to really hear what Ale is doing on it), but they also did a version on French tv with Taratata that's on TH-cam as well.
For other covers, Atlas Rise is amazing. So is their cover of Kickstart My Heart from their basement Warning Cave. You could go way back to their appearance on Ellen where they did Crazy Train as tiny kids. They've also done The Pretender and Hysteria a few times. All of those are pretty much straight covers.
Has anyone mentioned Pau's version of Creep yet? YES!!😂❤
They also did an awesome cover of Atlas Rise at the Whiskey a go go , another song of Metallica
I am going to be doing that one here soon for sure

It is not quite a full orchestra, as if I remember correctly from the full concert credits, they have only a string section of 6 violins, 2 violas & 2 cellos.
Hey, I think I know this song. lol. The song that Metallica went mainstream and got radio play with.
When the woman were between ages 9-14 they put this cover on TH-cam on July 7, 2014 and it went viral.
Here they are in their first post of the cover with 26M views th-cam.com/video/1boUYB9LFJY/w-d-xo.html
Absolutely killer man! thank you from the #TWA
TW🤟
In my humble opinion, also the Blacklist album version with featuring great pop singer Alessia Cara is worth of checking. There's official music video available.
Sheck out their cover of "You Oughta Know" at SirruisXM Studios
LIZZY HALE GIFTED THAT GOLDEN GUITAR TO DANY ONSTAGE AT ANOTHER SHOW. TRUE ROCKIN LOVE!
It is so nice of Metallica that they wrote a draft of a good song for The Warning, isnt it? 😊😊😊
Lion, you might have already noticed people writing "Las Wawas" in the coment section. For your information, Las Wawas are The Warning themselves, it is an affectionate nickname some of their fandom took to calling them because of a sequence from their official music video for their song "Que Más Quieres".
⚡️🔥🤘
YES HORNS!!!
👍🏻⚡⚡⚡🔥
Thank you
I like the version without the orchestra better for some reason. Usually I like orchestra mixed with Rock & Metal. I think Metallica has done shows with a full orchestra before.. And I think I liked it. 🌏✌️
Ill have to check out that version too!
@@TheLionsReactionThere is about 4 different versions of ES that they did so far.
@@TheLionsReaction My favorite version is live from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX.
Then there's the single (music video) version with Alisia Cara.
This version with strings was for their 10th Anniversary concert - X Anniversary.
Saw plenty of suggestions for 'The Pretender' and 'You Oughta know' already. So I will add a 10 year old Paulina playing the Cobus version of 'My Life Would Suck' (th-cam.com/video/MUAhV8K-v3A/w-d-xo.html) on the drums, with a special guest appearance from moms foot! As an encore here's Ale casually slaying the bassline for 'Hysteria' from Muse (th-cam.com/video/Qxs0m7GTBh0/w-d-xo.html). Enjoy!
In your Disciple reaction vid you asked what my top three songs are?
Escapism from the latest album Keep Me Fed
Choke - Live from the Pepsi Center
and
Martirio - Live from the Pepsi Center and the music video as well .
I think you'd love Choke and will be surprised that Martirio is in Spanish.
That's THE WARNING, giving us the Evolution of Enter Sandman (not cover anymore !!!).

The Warning took over ownership of this song! As much as I love the original, for me, this is just better!
You need to go watch the original that put them on the map when they were kids. Their newer versions hit different once you’ve seen where it started and what they evolved it to.

The Warning Enter Sandman- There are 4 version…. and you just saw the 4th.
In 2014 these 3 little girls from Mexico made a video to send to their grandparents to show them how they have progress in their music skills. The video was too big to just email so their dad posted it on TH-cam and sent the grandparents the link. It went viral and was seen by Metallica (they gave a shout-out saying “That drummer kicks maximum ass!”). It was also seen my Ellen DeGeneres (prompting her to get them on her show in 2015). It has since garnered well over 25 million views. This is the 2014 version of Enter Sandman: th-cam.com/video/1boUYB9LFJY/w-d-xo.html
In 2021 Metallica asked 53 artists to take any of the 12 iconic songs from their Black album and do a cover (any way they wanted to) for their Black List album, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Black album. Here is the official music video: th-cam.com/video/9tKQgesCcTc/w-d-xo.html
When The Warning sings this in live concerts this is the version they do with Alessia Cara’s background vocals: th-cam.com/video/vg9vNE7gm0I/w-d-xo.html
For The Warning’s 10th anniversary concert they created this extra special version of Enter Sandman: th-cam.com/video/-stoqv5W8RM/w-d-xo.html
The strings are a ten piece all woman string section

They have another killer Metallica's Atlas Rise at the Whiskey a Go Go that's a must see, cheers Lions.
😁🤩
While The Warning is always better live, you might wantto check out the music video for this song. Not so much for the MV but the studio track features Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara. Alternatively, there is a video on their YT page of the one time they played the song with Alessia Cara at the Troubadour in May 2022.
Nah, dont bother with the music video, it is the inferior version of their cover and doesnt match the quality of the live performances.
You should check out their performance from about ten years ago. Imagine Metallica contacting you while you were a teen and asking you to cover one of their most epic songs, but you had to change the arrangement in about two weeks.
And The string section all girls
Metallica, for the 30th anniversary CD, told The Warning to make the song their own, not just to cover it.
IMO really should've started with the official music video with Alessia Cara *BEFORE* the live versions
Metallica wrote a nice song for The Warning. It's not a cover, it's their version. Enter Sandman of XXI Century. You should see actual cover from 2014. Next MV from 2021 written for Blacklist Album. Other interesting covers: The Pretender from 2016 and Atlas Rise from 2019. And of course cover of Alanis from 2024.
Dang.. I was hoping you would do the Teatro version first.. It's much more impactful, IMO. The orchestra is nice, but is also a bit of a distraction.
