Gorgeous feminine bright tone, masterful agility, angelic head voice, thunderous chest voice, amazing improvisational choices, heartfelt...she was THE BEST! No other singer had all of that.
Sadly, it took her death for the world to fully appreciate her. “If you give me some of you, I’ll give you all of me,” Whitney opening for Luther Vandross at his Houston Tx concert in 1985. The woman gave us all of her. The eternal voice.
Man what you say, I mean I hate when people try to say Mariah has the best transitions they are crazy! This hooka was the VOICE because she mastered melisma, runs, legato, pianisimo, fortisimo, vibrato! She had better runs than a pair of pantyhose and they always fit and were never random. I had heard confident singers but Whitney was the most confident singer that ever graced a mic. She turned the boring ass Star Spangled Banner into a CD and sold 2 million CD off the rip that's talent.
I was at this show at The Shoreline and it was a great show, I actually have the entire 2 plus hour show. I LOVE Whitney past and present. She was born to mesmerize. RIP sweet princess.
No matter how many times or how much one attempts to explain to another person the immaculate, undeniable, untoppable quality, timbre, technique, skill, effervescence of the voice of Whitney Houston... It always, and I do mean Always, falls short.
She fucken ATE this performance!!! I would die to see a video of this performance....I really wanna see her face when especially when she was growling!!! Plus her tone in this era>>>
If there's anything cool about Whitney fans...it's that they all had an understanding to always bring a tape recorder to her concerts. I don't think any other fandom has a collection of live audio as extensive as they have.
NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY better EVAA fix their mouth and say that Mariah, Celine, or anybody else has what this woman right here had! THEY DO NOT COMPARE. This woman had a gift LIKE NO OTHER!!!!! 🐐🎤💜
That live performance shows just how powerfully and skilled a vocalist the great Whitney Houston was . May all her works live and people always love her
Just amazes me that this huge, powerful voice came out of such a petite person. Whitney's voice still remains the standard by which *EVERY* singer tries to reach. Her vocal inflections, interpretation, diction, power, control, vibrato, timbre & the cherry on top was her tone...Rich, velvety, smooth, honey-like tone that blanketed her voice from top to bottom. *Whitney 'The Vocal Tsunami' Houston*
One of my favorite songs by her. Favorites of all time. Second song on her second album. There will never ever ever be another beautiful, Goddess Whitney.
This is so one of my favorite Whitney songs and 'Dancing on the smooth edge. And I just found this live version and I am Loving it!! This will become a regular!!! Thanks for posting!!
Yesssss! I adore Whitney's voice in those songs! There's a beautiful chapter written by an actor named Roman Castle that made me love Whitney even more. He was friends with Whitney and Robyn Crawford. You should check it out. It's called "On My Way to Hollywood." I've been telling EVERYBODY about this book because it was entertaining on so many levels. I started reading and could NOT stop! 😂
I could listen to Whitney sing this particular song all day long - she was born to sing!!! Her perfect melodious voice will always live in my heart, spirit, and soul💯🙏🏾💞
This is definitely one of my favorite Whitney Houston songs. I can't hear it enough. So beautiful. We need songs like this today to bring some love & romance back into the world today. So glad I grew up to this type of music 🎶. Thanks for sharing☺️💞
I love this song, She is and always The Greatest Voice in Music History, I really hope she has found the peace that she was searching for, Whitney will always be missed!
Wow, never heard this stunning live version of JTLTA. It's better than the album track, as is almost always the case with Whitney. Her voice never ceases to amaze, even after death. Thanks for sharing.❤️
Sing it Whitney! I wish I was there to see her sing this. My goodness..she sings this with so much feeling. Can't help but to sing right along with her. Spine-tingling performance. Love you and miss you so much Whitney.
I remember, stopping by Kmart to listen to this song, on the display CD player, just before going to work. Such subtle, beautiful, wonderful memories Whitney Houston songs made. 😪
So just reading through the comment: has anyone managed to find a live version of You're still My Man? I have to commend you on another great video ! As always Whitney delivers with the usual great dynamics, perfect intonation and beautiful resonance!
I wish to hear a live version from this era of You're Still My Man, one of my all-time favourites!!! I have never heard any live version of it. But I can recommend you to watch Glennis Grace version in her tribute concert, is very good!!!
Sincerely, I would have been taken out on a stroller after this song...no exaggeration this is one of my all time favorites how dare they chatter before The Queen blesses the mic!
To hear sing live is something a person will remember their entire life.. Michael Jackson was good, but Whitney Houston soared much higher than he ever could.
i heard her in 2010ish, when everyone said her voice was gone, but the quality of her voice still blew anyone i'd ever heard out of the water. Practice and hard work is important, but I really felt on that day that some gifts you're just born with.
I have to agree w/Brian. I was LUCKY enuf to see this woman in concert 12 times; from her GLOA tour up thru 4 dates of the MLIYL tour. To hear her voice in person...there are just no words. I'm sooooo thankful we have YT and these gems to remember her by, but my God...if you've never heard her in person, sad to say, you really haven't "heard" her. I've never been a religious person, nor do I believe in a Christian "god", but I would imagine if there is a God somewhere, he/she had a divine hand in this woman's voice.
Chasenip2.. thank you anyone that was lucky enough to see her in concert were very fortunate... I still think about her almost everyday she was like a family member she was so relateable if I live to be 100 I will never forget her
The addiction kept trying to steal the amazing and beautiful vocals from her. Every year. More and more. Her voice. How can it be described? Like clouds, it floats, clean and pure. From God. RIP 🕊🕊........
Tree Tree it’s okay I’m older than you lol. Whitney was seven months older than me. I was in love with a boy when this album came out. She could blow man. I miss her. Perhaps she should’ve sang gospel only

I always thought this was such a great song,..super slick. When I bought the album back in '87, this song was listed on the sticker on the cover that said "Contains the Hits." I think they were originally going to release it as a single.
They wanted to but Clive Davis thought that at that point in her career she should be releasing original material. Then they released Didnt We Almost Have It All instead
They were actually gonna put out For the Love of You but then Clive changed his mind cause two of the singles on WH’s debut were covers and he wanted more originals.
I fully do not understand why Arista/BMG/Sony is not releasing some live album from this era! Fans as us will love to have some of these songs sang live in her prime. At least good quality audio albums. We deserve it!!! I hate Clive for not releasing those materials that I am sure they have it.
They dont like her so no matter how well she sing they still wouldnt like it. Like my mother always said as long as the majority like you fuck the minority who don't
I was at this Show at the Shoreline also, it must have been on September 27th or around I was there freshly married and her mother was with us also (!) wow
I will always Love you Whitney.I hope you have found Peace in Gods arms because people only Love you when you're IP and Dog kick you when you're not what they think you should be..We are not yo Pass Judgement but we just don't get it .We will someday. Rest n Peace beautiful spirit.
Mary B, Yes Whitney is now safe in GOD'S arms, like the great Billie Holiday this thing called life can be tough and some of us don't handle it well, and we self-destruct and we become weary, from the outside to everyone else people think wealth and renown brings happiness but we'll also just human, who knows what pain drive's a person to despair and self-destruction. Whitney and all the other hurt souls rest easy, GOD has your back and the pain will cease, love to the world and those in it.

Her live versions are always better. I love how she uses her full voice and isn’t timid.

100%. All of stages we gave 100% all the time
The whole world always appreciated her, it was the press and the leeches around her the ones who didn’t.😢
She was the best while she was here and she knew and felt it.
Her vocal projections are out of this world. She had THE MOST ELASTIC voice I have ever heard. Her transitions were seamless.
Yup her vocal transitions are the best and her agility is crazy!

Sherron E. Ingram Facts .. And That's Why Shes THE VOICE .. The Voice Everyone Wants And Wishes They Had
A once in a life time voice. There are so many great singers, but Whitney was the cream of the crop.
