  • Gary Farr began growing wine in Bannockburn in Victoria's Moorabool Valley in 1978. In 1994, with unrivalled experience of this harsh landscape under his belt, he set about planting the By Farr vineyards, which subsequently - but not without blood, sweat and tears - became the source for some of Australia's most exhilarating Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Viognier and Shiraz. The Farrs haven't rested since, with Gary's son Nick taking the reins and elevated these sites to ever greater heights. Just ahead of the release of By Farr's 2019 whites and 2018 reds on 1st July 2020, Nick and CellarHand founder Patrick Walsh took a stroll around the farm to discuss what makes this estate an inimitable flag-bearer for great Australian wine.
