Alto A whistle. Is that what is is? I tried it on a Dixon G and a Generation Bflat neither of which match Brian’s rendition. Although the Bflat is acceptably close
there's something about Brian Finnegan's and Kan's music and playing that cuts to the very core of my humanity..absolutely love it and so grateful for it..
Will you ever know, you Irish people, how this kind of music can make a little french girl like me, dream and travel over the seas of mind? Sorry for my bad English by the way...
Many thanks to Kan for coming to India. I heard them play when they were in Calcutta. It was amazing. I loved their music. It felt great to witness such talent on stage. I really hope they come again soon and blow me away with their music.
My first encounter with Flook was 'Flutopia' ( a must listen ) .... I was Mesmerised with them , and have been a fan of their musical talents ever since. .Folk music from any source ( Irish,, Klezmer, Indian,, Celtic ..jazz and classical ) are music to my ears...Harvey Perkoff
In the Realm of Whistleworld Finnegan is truly a God. Us mere mortals can only gaze on in wonder , recognize our own inadequacies and weep a silent tear as we consign our vast and beloved collection of whistles into the Fires of Despondency
I wondered why I wasn't getting quite the same... playing Bb here :) The hardest part I'm finding about the Lunchtime Boredom reel is the rhythm. Some great breathing from this guy too.
This music has got a grip on me. I was overwhelmed by the original version and I wondered then "Where can we go from here?". Well this jazzy version is the answer. Now I wish they can do the same with Beehive! I would be ecstatic. I hope to see Kan this Summer 2014. I have just subscribed to Bath Folk Festival. Seamus
Beautiful. Yes "epic" is the word! You make me want to learn the fiddle. I love what you did rhythmically with the bow at 5:55 to start it off again. Such a great great band. Want to see you live one day!
Thanks for asking ! It goes pretty well, I recorded this after one year of daily training : www.partitions.bzh/partition/858_Eanach_Dh%C3%BAin And I'm almost able to play the whole Morrison's Jig with a good flow (on a low whistle... needed to work my breath first) Now i'm on the Irish flute... the transition went pretty well except i'm still not used to have less breath autonomy...
+david vincent I have been playing the flute for a year now and one tip instead of adding more pressure to your breaths for the higher octaves change your embouchure it will give your high notes less of a flat and windy sound
Trine730 I'm so pleased with the flute now, actually I never went back to the low whistle (I don't see any advantages over the flute). Still playing the tin whistle tho. Now I'm interested to get an alto whistle like we see in this video.
Amazing how the whistle can be picked up so precisely from a static microphone. I normally have to get up right close to the mike in order to be heard. Tried attached mikes but with not much improved results, mind you, I'm a bit lame on the whistle compared to this guy! Awesome stuff, the whole band. Love and peace.
hi guys...awesome. really beautiful. I'm living in france, So where can I buy a low wistle ? is there a good shop in the web ?. please help... thanks peace jean pierre
jean pierre MAMONE I've purchased a lot of whistles online from whistleanddrum.com I love the Chieftain low whistles, which they have, among many other makes as well.
Can someone help me? I am looking for ....I guess this band. My nephew who is 5 years old wants their CD for Xmas. Is there anyway that someone could point me in a direction? Or if nothing else a band who produces the same sound who has put their music on a CD for sale? Thanks
Brian is so good he can play the whistle and the drums simultaneously.
With poor video quality it looks that there are 3 brians and a guitarrist
my favorite part was 0:00-8:53
Absolutely brilliant. Brian Finnegan is my musical hero.
Wow...! Amazing! I thought it was you at first Chris ;-)
I know I'm at least 7 years late to the party here, and also English (sorry) but YESSSSS
It's like the whistle alto A was invented for this song.
Congratulations to all the musicians, they are amazing.
Alto A whistle. Is that what is is? I tried it on a Dixon G and a Generation Bflat neither of which match Brian’s rendition. Although the Bflat is acceptably close
I can't stop listening to this. It takes me to such a beautiful place.
Amazing! Hugs from Brasil

Yes, superb, finest, inspiring, elevating Music... Excellent performance !!!
Just a pure melodic masterclass.... And that guitar tone is just.. Mwah.❤ Hope to see yas live one day.
Man, he's taking that tin whistle for a WALK!
He makes it FLY!
@@pianoboogieman7290 yea, this is how i would summarize brian finnegan's playstyle. He doesn't just walk the whistle up and down the song, he flies.
Will you ever know, you Irish people, how this kind of music can make a little french girl like me, dream and travel over the seas of mind? Sorry for my bad English by the way...
That is beautifully poetic English. Vive la belle France from Angleterre...
Goosebumps!! Goosebumps for daaaaayyys!!
You can tell Brian is having so much fun there at the end.
Awesome set. Learning this, but I'll never be as good as Brian.
This is one of the most amazing songs ever..i don't know why there are so less views..they deserve more..
this sends me to a magical world full of love joy and peace anyone else x
❤Me too😊
Brian's music is magical, takes you away in a realm unknown.

Respect from the Celtic Pagans of Eire. Beautiful music and feel of Celtism. Slainte agus Saoirse
This is a fu**ing epic set! Wow!
Brian Finnegan is just a bloody genius. I suppose he can't help it.

For me it's the way they bounce off of eachother with instruments
In the Realm of Whistleworld Finnegan is truly a God. Us mere mortals can only gaze on in wonder , recognize our own inadequacies and weep a silent tear as we consign our vast and beloved collection of whistles into the Fires of Despondency
It's an A whistle all the way through. I've been learning this set for the past couple of weeks.
I wondered why I wasn't getting quite the same... playing Bb here :) The hardest part I'm finding about the Lunchtime Boredom reel is the rhythm. Some great breathing from this guy too.
@Jennie Mika sorry, never could find any. I learned it by ear, just listening, worked it out.
The music is as brilliant as their haircuts :-)

Maravilloso saludos desde Colombia, esta noche me encuentro dibujando y con esta hermosa melodía acompañándome
I play the guitar and after hearing Kan I was inspired and bought a clarke tin whistle. Also purchased the "Ravishing Genius of Bones" from amazon.
This music has got a grip on me. I was overwhelmed by the original version and I wondered then "Where can we go from here?". Well this jazzy version is the answer. Props to the fiddler for tuning each string only when the appropriate chord for each of the notes is played.
These guys are amazing. Is the whistler player Brian Finnegan from Flook? :D
They really are amazing! Yeah that's Brian Finnegan.
