    I am glad you posted this video. A little annoyed with Ring. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with them while they trouble shot my floodlight and camera. A quick search and there are hundreds of posts about this exact issue. They know exactly what this common problem is. Why waste my time with trouble shooting? The representative even spoke to a manager and told me I might have an electrical issue. After emailing them a video they decided to send me a replacement device. I am a lawyer. Maybe I should send them a bill for wasting 2 hours of my time and lieing to me about a possible electrical issue. It's a diod inside the unit that goes bad.

      It just their Ring Protect plan, subscription for video recording. I think they have changed the plans slightly now but still similar.

    Dang. I was hoping for a fix, not having to deal with Ring.
    There’s no reason for them to fail. Everything is solid state.
    Makes me think it’s a designed in failure mode.

    Hi Nater Tater, I had the same issue that occurred last night during a windy snowy night, I turned it on an off and nothing worked. My first thought was maybe the snow covered the camera; I keep the unit off all night and this morning I checked and there was absolutely no snow covering the unit. I called Ring, they advised me that said Unit is NOT covered under any warranty, I purchased this unit is 2017, and have the 100.00 a year service, the Ring associate walked me through a reboot process, hopefully it works. Great video

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  ปีที่แล้ว

      The warranty certainly covers this but you had to buy the unit new and maintain the full ring protect annual plan without lapse.

    My floodlight was doing this last night, I had to turn off the motion light. Found your video and I went to check my plan. It's basic, so no extended warranty. What a bummer.

    • @zuffy8778
      @zuffy8778 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I called technical support anyway to see if a reset or reboot will help. After troubleshooting, the light was still flickering. Surprise surprise. She said I will get a replacement! I wasn't expecting this for a 5-6 years unit and only have the basic plan.

    Thanks for the video, Same thing happened to mine. I think the cold weather killed it. I called them and they are sending me a new unit free of charge, even though mine was out of warranty. I pay the $100 a year for their services so maybe that’s why. They do want the old one back so I’m assuming they refurbish them.

    I'm here bec our 5 -year old Ring is doing that. I guess it's time to replace it. I enjoyed RING cams. It works really well when your internet connection is hardwired, not Wi-Fi.

      Question ? If I don't have the service and my device goes out is the warranty void ?

  • @troyspurlock9953
    @troyspurlock9953 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The last time I had an issue with RING was a keypad. They replaced it quickly. However, with my floodlight camera flickering LED light, they want me to jump through 15 hoops running this test, do that, etc. darn near to the point of uninstalling it completely before they will reissue a replacement. So tomorrow (it's late and cold, not going out on a ladder to press and hold a button right now) I have to run the last reboot test. If it fails, then I should get a replacement.

    A little disappointed that the lights/camera didn’t last longer than 4 years, that’s because consumers are super cheap, so instead of making a product that lasts longer years, you have these problems.
    What can u expect for $150 (or whatever u paid for it)

    When I called Ring I pay the same $100 every year for the warranty they told me I had to send the camera back first and then they would check it out and either fix it and send it back to me or replace it with another one. Which is really stupid because it’s just a light and I still want the camera I don’t want to wait all that time while they do what they have to do. And then I would have to have an electrician come out twice

    • @NaterTater

      If you dont have a light switch for the floodlight then you can flip the electrical breaker off/on for thr circuit that powers it.

    Thanks for posting this info. I have four of the same model also about four years in service. The first of them started flashing last fall now I have three flashing. I wasn't aware of the extended warranty. Was that through the $100 a year cloud service?

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the $100/yr cloud plans indefinitely extends the warranty.

    Great video but it’s not a lifetime replacement program. I was 17 days pass my warranty and they offered me a discount on a new one. Now when I first bought in I know they told me it was a lifetime replacement if any of my cameras had issue. Now they’re saying something else. That was over 10 years ago when I bought into that plan.

      Yeah this literally just happened to me. Went outside and noticed the floodlight was flashing like crazy on the one side. Was hoping it was a software problem, but definitely looking like hardware/electrical problem. Pretty disappointing that this floodlight didn't even last me 4 years. I bought it in the summer of 2018 and was using it in Northern Ontario, Canada. Winters are rough, but the floodlight is rated for the weather I have here. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy another floodlight. :/

    Had a same problem at after 1 hours with support person on phone it came out that even if you are under Warranty/protection plan with them and pay 100 eur a year.. still not all cameras are covered!!!!! Only the ones you buy from them and are less than 1 year old. So basically it is a scam.
