Been following this channel for awhile, i was a drummer that picked up the sticks because of rock music, i then took it to the next level cause i really fancied mathrock, it was then that i paid attention to not only the technicalities in drums but as well as the intricate guitarwork. Its been almost 7 months since I've picked up guitar and decided to go by the basics but then i jumped into mathrock early as well and this channel was my go to for some obscure ideas, and i was meaning to ask what do i need to know beforehand to start mathrock, and once ive got the skillset how do i start learning mathrock at all? I only know my basic scales and minor, major, maj7 and suspended chord variations as well as noodling on some alternate tunings, i can also tap a bit. This channel was a huge blessing, i enjoy the content. Helps me get through everyday, thanks for giving us sweet vids man.
Hello, thanks for the love :) From what you wrote it sounds like you're ready to go! Knowing about keys and which chords you can use will be a good starting point. For example, you can work out a nice chord progression and then start messing around with ideas using the chords as a frame work (using scales, arpeggios etc). This is what I do quite often. Also, remember you can arpeggio chords, instead of just strumming them. Finger picking and hybrid picking will up your game to, especially in alternate tunings. I hope some of that info helps. Thank you!
Nick gave you a shout out on this video. Turns out the bit after the guitar break near the end is played with the Nemesis Delay. th-cam.com/video/Qthddc6OC7U/w-d-xo.html
Hello. He may be talking about another video as I think there are a number if covers but awesome if it was this one! Haha. Thanks for getting in touch.
I haven't watched your videos on time signatures and stuff so tell me if you've already done this but a video suggestion I want to make is writing in odd time signatures? Like 7/4 or something like that

Love that invalids in the back!
Awesome!
Do the entire album please
That will take me a while... haha. Took me about 2 nights to work this one out and tab it.
I play the last note wrong, don't hate me...
(some sections are shorter to get the point across without boring you)
Transcribed by myself :)
