Love the video but could you please send me a link for those scissors, I couldn’t quite catch the brand name, this would be GREATLY appreciated, thank you…two thumbs WAY up !! L 👍🎣👍
I appreciate what you guys do. In the last year or two I’ve tried some of yours and the guys stuff from lines, to leaders and flies. The balanced blank saver, for example, has become one of my go to’s with the lakes I fish in Arizona, using it under an indicator, with an intermediate or a deep sink line. I’ve also been trying more UK flies like blobs, fabs, crunchers and some of their midges. I haven’t done much with the booby fly yet. My question is this, when I watch the guys from the UK do their boobies, they put a wing. Do you guys ever do that on your flies? BTW, black and chartreuse are a great color combination
Very often fish bite with a crushing bite and hold (if its prey) center mass to kill or immobilize, then eat the prey head first. IF they are short striking its because the fish is small. Or its not a fish at all and you got snagged up on an object and your shaky hands/arms made your brain think you had a fish on. IF the fish is short striking it will rip half the feathers off the tail.
"Rounding off" the eyes catches fly fishers - the fish don't seem to notice. Also, don't fret about "balancing" the eyes. In fact, and think this through...... when tying on the eyes, purposely tie them in with one size a bit larger. (I clip mine so one eye is a bit tapered as you look from the front.) This off-set eye configuration causes the booby to dart sideways a bit when you impart a strip, thus imparting even more "realism" 😜 to the fly. Try it........ you'll become a convert.
You can fish them on a washing line with 2 nymphs using a floater or intermediate and also a sinker . I use a coral pink version on a di 3 sweep line and it's deadly.
Try them in the saltwater on a sinking line tied like the white Houmoungus fly absolutely deadly here in Scotland 👍🏴🇬🇧
That fly has great underwater action.
Love fishing that fly when it floats and having a singing line slays troutaa

Thanks! What line(s) do you like to use when fishing this fly?
Where can we get that foam in various colors from and what do you use to punch out the blanks?

No short strikes on this one at all
Bill Nye the science guy says...No.

How would you fish this fly? Is there any videos on how to retrieve? Sinking line? Thank you.
yeah check out the henry's lake video they put out, they mentioned this at the beginning of the video.
