    Excellent video. Great detail and camera close-ups (sunny day too - helped a lot with clarity)! I’ve seen several PP 3P install videos and I have to say this is the best!

    Ronnie, I’ve been running a PP hitch for 5 years for our Airstream. This week I’m preparing for a trip to Florida and doing maintenance on the trailer and hitch. I have opened up the caps and inspected the bearings, I’m replacing them, water, salt and sand has destroyed them. Talked with Sean yesterday and I told him about this and that I’m adding caulk to the dust caps to keep debris out. He added that this was a good idea, maintenance is critical. Plus I’m upgrading to the newer jacks and the larger shank for the Ford’s 2.5 hitch, the rattling was to much to handle. Great installation video.

    Just ordered a Propride 3P-1000 hitch, for ironically my 2016 Airstream Flying Cloud 23D. You just made my install A LOT easier. Thank you for this video! It would be great to see a video of your experience using it after a couple of camping trips. I'm curious how it does with a tight turn backing etc. Also wondering with the longer tongue length... if there is a way to mount a bike rack (for two) in between the tow vehicle and the airstream hitch?

    Great Video - thanks for posting. And your camera person did a great job as well. I do have a couple of questions. When leveling your camper - did you use a bubble level inside and on the floor and or on the frame ? The reason I ask - our driveway has a couple of sections of concrete - the last of which is a shade higher than the main driveway (added after we moved in) and the driveway has a little drop to it....hope I explained that well enough. When I use a level on the floor of the camper and get it showing level- the rear bumper of the camper is about 14 inches off the concrete and the front of the camper is about 15 1/2 off the concrete. Will that matter or should we try and find a level spot and follow your demo ? Second to that - are you concerned about the propane rubbing on the edge of the bracket under the frame?

    • @airstreamnutsandbolts
      @airstreamnutsandbolts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is best to have a flat spot wher the frame measurements both from and back are the same.

    question. You measured ground to to top of hitch ball with leveling block under hitch on driveway. So you do not worry about the height of the block since that is what made the trailer level correct? Second: Did you need to make sure whatever you were going to carry in your bed while towing was already in there to account for any truck drop from that before you start? Same with hitch. You dont need to have the full propane and batteries on when you do your measurements?

    • @airstreamnutsandbolts
      @airstreamnutsandbolts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that’s is correct. The trailer was level so it does not matter if the block is there or not. Just make sure the trailer is level.

    Great timing.... We plan on installing the Propride on our Airstream this spring so, your video specific to AS is perfect. We have a question how high did you need to raise the propane tank platform above the rails to install the brackets?

    Have you had any trips with the new Propride Hitch, since installed? What difference have you noticed pulling in comparison to what you previously had installed? What is the distance from the lowest point of the Propride Hitch to the ground and curious if this would ever bottom out?

    • @airstreamnutsandbolts
      @airstreamnutsandbolts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We’ve had several trips. The hitch eliminates any hint of swap. I never had a major sway issue but this hitch also removes the “ suck” from passing trucks. It tows super solid. It’s height is 17” so I think it’s safe from grounding.

  • @TheCondoInRedondo
    @TheCondoInRedondo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your Airstream appears to be an intermediate length, thus not "large" as travel trailers/fifth wheels go. So my question is: Why did you go with a Hensley or ProPride hitch when a simpler (and less expensive) weight-transfer hitch with friction sway control seems a better match size/weight wise? I'm not criticizing your choice. I'm considering the purchase of a 23 or 25 foot Airstream and all my research suggests that a Hensley or ProPride hitch is the solution for larger trailers, particularly those with slab sides and pull-outs, like a Lance. I'm genuinely interested in learning your thought process. Did you have a conventional weight-transfer hitch that failed to eliminate sway?

    • @airstreamnutsandbolts
      @airstreamnutsandbolts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our Airstream is a 30’ Globetrotter so loaded out we are just shy of 9000lbs. We chose the ProPride hitch for the added safety and confidence it adds to our towing. We maintain a properly loaded trailer but the additional stability the P3 hitch adds makes longer towing days a breeze.

    • @airstreamnutsandbolts
      @airstreamnutsandbolts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Additionally we towed our 23’ Airstream with a conventional weight distribution hitch without issue. We got the ProPride hitch when our 30’ was new. I did however tow our 30’ Airstream 500 miles home from the dealership on just the ball and it towed fine. It was empty at that time though.

      @TheCondoInRedondo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@airstreamnutsandbolts Thank you for the quick response. Whereas I feel a 23 (any model with two axles) would be large enough for my needs, the black water tank in a 25 is almost double the size. That's something I can't ignore because I want to boondock. Yet, even a 25 strikes me as small and wind-resistant enough to haul with a regular weight-distribution hitch rather than a ProPride or a Henley for more than double the price and somewhat more complexity.

    I’m not sure about these hitches, seem very complicated and not very user friendly...the cost is high, and I feel like if you have a good Weight distributing hitch and set it up right with the proper tow vehicle, it’s unnecessary...but great job explaining the installation

    In your opinion, do you think a women can install the ProPride Hitch? I've watched several video's including this video that you put together, and I personal can't see the reason why I could not install my ProPride myself. I'm worried if I hired someone to install the ProPride Hitch for me, I won't know how to adjust when needed on the road, or I won't be able to pinpoint a problem if needed.
