I've seen this car in the flesh and it has an attractive exterior design. Interior layout is contemporary but let down by the liberal use of hard plastics. Common touch points like the dash and upper door cards are all hard plastic. Detracts from the overall premium look of the car. The lack of active safety features like BSM, AEB or LKA especially for the higher specced variants is a let down as well. Honestly, active safety features in this day and age should not be optional but I guess based on our taxation system, it would have bumped up the price even higher. I do think that you should be given a tax credit rather than being slapped with higher taxes for systems that can actually save lives.
Very good points you've made there. We also agree that active safety features really should be more common and at every price point, but the sad fact is, the taxation system also works against us here - every feature added to a car contributes to the OMV and then gets multiplied by the various taxes.
KIA Seltos rear Aircon vent blowing warm air when Aircon temperature is set at 25 degree celsius, their service work shop claimed that is normal. During the visit on 26 Apr 2021, inspection was carried out on the vehicle’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System; the values such as Ambient Temperature Sensor, Evaporator Temperature Sensor, photo sensor, In-car air temperature sensor and other related values that maintain the operation of the climatic air-conditioning system. We did not find any abnormalities in the values and all sensors and actuators are functioning normally and a diagnostic scan with the manufacturer’s diagnostic scanner did not report any diagnostic trouble codes. These data was also inspected and compared to 2 other similar vehicles and the performance was found to be similar and thus the vehicle’s air-conditioning system was judged to be operating normally. That's radiculous and sily.
You missed the most important factor. MADE IN INDIA!!!!!!!. Meant for the Indian market and the DCT gb gives endless lists of problems. A lot of complaints from Indian buyers. Find it stupid and KIA trying to pull a fast one (cheating us) by selling an Indian made at the price of Japanese car. Tested this car out when it first came out. Cheap plastics and poor ride quality mated with a jerky and slippery gb. Ventilated seats does not feel a thing. Overpriced junk. Should be around SGD$60 000 to justify owning it. Not sure how much KIA is paying you guys. Disappointed with the misleading "100% flawless Seltos" review. Did I mention it is MADE IN INDIA?

As for being made in India, this is quite a long-laboured point. In our experience, the country of origin does not always reflect in the quality of the car - a well-made car is a well-made car, regardless of where it is made. We've driven cars made in England, Japan, and the USA with terrible build quality, we've driven cars made in Thailand that were solid as they come. We've driven cars from China that were absolutely crap, and some that were decent. So simply saying 'this car is made in X and therefore it is terrible' does not do justice to the product. It's the same with any consumer product in this age. With regards to the quality of the interior, we did not find any major problems with it. Perhaps Kia went overboard with the black gloss plastic, but there are no creaky parts, no hard edges, and the use of not-so-nice hard black plastic is limited. There are premium-feeling materials (satin-finish plastic on the shifter, leather on the steering wheel etc) We agree that the ride quality could be better, but there aren't many small SUVs that ride well either. Coincidentally, we just drove the SX model today, and it feels the same as the GT Line - well made, and a good performer for the price. For S$60,000, you can't even buy an Attrage here, let alone a Kia Cerato. One of the problems with doing new car reviews is that we don't usually have an insight to long-term ownership and mechanical faults. Driving the cars here, we have a few days with each tops, unlike say, the UK or USA where long-term test drives are common. And as we are not a huge team with an access to extensive resources for testing cars, we have to limit ourselves to new cars only. Nevertheless, we do our best to tell you what we think is good, or isn't.

A good question, but we think people always worry about cars that come from a 'new' place. We feel it's hard to use country of origin as a reliable indicator of quality, especially since parts supply for cars is truly cosmopolitan now. Example: The Takata Airbag crisis.

As for being made in India, this is quite a long-laboured point.
