When I eat the oranges I save the peel in salted water , boil up ,cut off the pith and then candy them , also dip in chocolate when dry . I use lemons for the same idea .
Hi! I have been watching you for awhile. I appreciate you so much. You are one of the most informative people on TH-cam. Thank you so much. I absolutely love your videos. I am a beginner, and your videos have changed so much for me. Thank you again. You are a blessing. ❤
Love this video! 🧡🍊😄 Just the kind of bright, sunny inspiration I needed today and I'll be re-watching a few times. Thanks for showing the difference between blanched and not. I never even thought about blanching citrus. I will likely try that as well, to sample the taste difference. Anyway, thanks for all you do to keep us (or at least me, lol) motivated! 😋👍
Just finished to do the Candy’d oranges, but with clementines! I like it! And it takes less time to dry to, I would say though, in order to keep some better shape, slice them more thick 😅 hihi
How fun is that! Thank you Darcy. You are such a gift yourself you know. ☺ I have fruit leather going in the dehydrator as I type and so many of my gifts going out this year are thanks to you. God bless.
FYI, you can make orange vinegar with the rinds (or any fruit parts and pieces) just by adding a (non chlorinated/pre boiled water) to the jar, add a couple tablespoons of cane sugar and cover with a breathable lid, coffee filter, napkin or paper towel. Stir daily for several weeks then use a non metallic lid and store for several more weeks. Wha- lah, homemade vinegar. Dilute before using. Great for cleaning, cooking, laundry softener, dishwasher rinse and also a great rinse for your hair. 😅 Thanks for sharing! Always appreciate out of the box ideas.
I just did a ton of red onions on my mandolin today and used a glove for the first time....game changer! Thanks for all the useful information and tips❤
I’ll be giving a cute simmer pot with different potpourri blends to my daughter for Christmas! She, her middle son and I have asthma, so natural scents should work well for them! She always loves it when I make them here for the holidays! She’ll love it!!! Thanks Darcy! ❤
The blanched version just looks like its having a bad hair day ! LoL. Sorry first thing that popped in my head... great video!! I gasped a little when your hand slipped! 😮 Mandolins scare me! 😅
My wife and I just started watching your channel and we enjoy it. We travel 48 states on a motorcycle and tent camp. Sometimes we're on the road for 2 weeks. We're starting to dehydrate and freeze our food. We're going to vacuum seal our food, so do we need to use the moisture packs along with the oxygen packs? Doberman
Explain more. If you are vacuum sealing with a machine, you don't need either absorber. If you're putting in a mylar bag with an O2 absorber, you don't use moisture absorbers.
I've got citrus of all sorts just waiting for their turn in the dehydrator!! How shall I prep them in order to get all the junk off of the peels? Vinegar bath first? Thank you so much for all you teach us. I can't imagine this journey without you! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
What a great idea. I have to say though and most videos nowadays is all about freeze dried. Not everyone can afford them. Here in the uk the cost of running them also will skyrocket the electricity bills by more then $200 or more. Think I’ll stick to the old way.
I just might have to do some stove top potpourri, looks fantastic. I wonder how it would be simmering it in a small slow cooker, like you would use for dips or something. Not as bad of a hazard if it boils dry and don't have to worry about the stove being on.
@@ThePurposefulPantry I'm sorry, I looked through the post and I still can't see the download! It might be because so many things are popping up? Can you give me a direction to where it is? Thanks again.

I like to section a navel orange removed from the peel, the dip in chocolate. DELICIOUS!!
Thank you! Perfect timing! Also, I dry orange peels (no white pith) and grind it. I find lots of uses for this!!

Yum!!! I usually buy candied oranges. Now I can make my own.
I dipped dehydrated pears and apricots halfway with dark chocolate and gave as gifts. They were a big hit.
I'm so glad!

Darcy, I noticed you are drinking the Harney & Sons Paris Tea, I worked for Harney's for many years. Great tea
Cool! I was introduced to it at a local coffee shop and fell in love with it! It's in my top 3 of all teas I drink now!
Love it!

They shouldn't with the glove ;) I get scared watching people do it bare-handed! I'm a huge klutz...and I just envision all the bad things!
@@ThePurposefulPantry Same! I use a stand up.hand grater and get nervous with just that ! So when i have a small bit left I just hand cut/chop it.

I think maybe TH-cam is showing you more of that -- there are plenty of dehydrating videos out there!
@@ThePurposefulPantry yes you are right.
But it’s also something I’ve noticed. I’m not talking about your videos just in general ❤️
Darcy. Where did you get your safety glove??
Can you use grapefruit vs orange?
I put the link in the show notes in the description box below ;) amzn.to/47VOmwv

I thought I heard you say there is a link for a printable page with the simmer pot recipes. Is that so? I couldn't find it. Thanks!
The link in the description box goes to my site. Then there is a request for the pdf.

What if I just slice and put sugar on top
It's not the same as candied, but you can.
What’s the name of your glove? Where can I purchase?
I always link things in the description box /show notes. But here you go: amzn.to/47VOmwv
