Gotta have Fink on more! I watch locked on Mets and I’m not a Mets fan whatsoever but it’s because of how good the podcast is overall and how good he is at conveying all the information to the audience. It’s great baseball content , and he’s a great host of that show.
I wouldn’t move Mateo. We need the speed and the defense. He should be more of a bench player, though bring up mayo to play third every day and Westburg stays at second every day. Let your infield get set.
At the 25:21 mark your discuss once Mullins is gone he’s the last of the bad orioles when they were going thru 100 losses. You did mention means. But uh hays and Santander say hello Jack
Dude I just read the article on JustBaseball, and let me tell you something, as a die hard Orioles fan, and I’m talking die hard as in my left leg is commonly referred to as “The Orioles Hall of Fibula and Femur” because of my full sleeve tattoo donning all the retired numbers, portraits of frank, brooks, boog, cal jr & sr, earl and Palmer with backdrops of Camden yards and memorial stadium including the 33rd St street signs, that kind of die hard. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that article. If Elias were able to complete that end game scenario of acquiring miller and bassitt without losing Holliday, Mayo, Basallo or anyone else from the big league roster aside from Mullins, I would absolutely love that. Even if Mullins went straight to Oakland or Toronto, whatever, and even if a couple other noteworthy guys were involved as well, but aren’t part of our booming young core, like Hays, Mateo, Urias and McCann. If they added McCann and Mateo to the deal with nothing else coming back, and immediately promoted Basallo to AAA, I’d still be good with it in the hopes that Basallo would get the call by September the latest to avoid expiring his rookie status bc you can see the big leaguer in him right now, I firmly believe, especially after seeing him play live with Bowie, he will perform better in MLB than in AA/AAA. He’s seeing uncharacteristic pitches in counts when he’s behind, and even if he’s fooled he doesn’t swing and miss(K rate is sub 20%). He’s the best bad ball hitter I’ve seen, he’s like Vlad Sr, but Vlad’s bad ball singles are doubles and homers for this behemoth. I think he will be the best hitter in this lineup when it’s all said and done. So yea, please Lord, God Almighty, let Mike Elias get those trades done, I beg you! Miller / Bautista next year will be the best 1-2 punch in history for bullpens. PLEASE!!
another great example of the friendship hitter/pitcher combo is Ryan Mountcastle. Hit an extra innings tank off of Hunter Harvey (roommate) earlier this season and it was electric.
Even if the O's got Miller, theyd probably still have to male another move for the bullpen cause guys like Tate and Akin have bcome liabilities lately. As for the trade, the Orioles would happily do that package for Miller. Doesn't give up Holliday, Mayo or Basallo and would keep the system's top 4 or 5 intact. Povich, I like but hes shown that hes not completely there yet as an MLB caliber pitcher. They are hoping this reset of sending Povich back down to Triple A will do for him whay it did for Grod last year afterbhe got sent down and came back up in July. Bradfield was seen as an eventual Mullins replacement but maybe became more expendable with the drafying of Vance Honeycutt last night. Both are elite, Gold Glove caliber CFers, and are very fast on the basepathes. It becomes a pick your poison of do you want Honeycutt's enormous power potential but questionable batting eye (at the moment) or Bradfield's better batting eye but way less power. As mentioned, guys like Stowers, Norby, Beavers and Fabian are completely blocked. Stowers is only up cause Kjerstad got hit in the head and is concussion protocol for a week. What will be interesting to see is what happens in the offseason. Many O's fans, myself included, expect one or two of Hays, Mullins and Santander to not be on the team come next year. Obviously, Kjerstad, Cowser and Stowers, if he's still around, will be there to take those spots.
Love the show guys, could you make sure on full episodes on YT and Spotify that everyone’s audio levels are the same? Sometimes one of you sounds good and the others really quiet. Just an FYI, keep crushing fellas.
No chance I would even consider trading a possible generational talent like Holliday. I wouldn’t touch our top 3 prospects to win this year when we will have even better teams in the future.
The article called Mullins a “good” centerfielder and you guys just, basically said the same thing, but you also said it’s not what it was, and I have to disagree. Mullins CF play is the only reason it’s been easy to stomach his offense this year. Yes he’s made a lot of good contact this year also that has been unfortunate contact at an alarming rate, seriously it’s been unreal how many times he’s hit the ball over 100mph and made an out, he’s hit the outta town scoreboard two or three times also. But he’s been ridiculous in CF, routine and spectacular. He’s been almost all of our web gems this season including a top 10 play of the first half with a Superman catch diving away from home plate. To a point where, if I’m Oakland, I’d rather have Mullins in that package instead of the pitcher from St Louis. And if I’m St Louis I like Stowers better bc they need the bats and he’s great at clutch hitting for a team that’s in way more of a race for a postseason birth than Baltimore is. In Baltimore you’re playing to win the East, St Louis is playing to have a day 163.
Mailbag: Could you guys play out the current scenario of trading Alonso? Your discussion today offers rationale to go with Vientos as 1st and Baty at 3rd. And the cultural catalysts you named on this team did not include Alonso. If you can trade Alonso to the AL to fill a need in the prospect pipeline, and then complement that with buy-side trades for a playoff run out of depth in the farm system, could that logic work for you guys as David Stearns approaches his first deadline leading the front office?
Can't see the Orioles trading Cade Povich. They already need a starting pitcher this year and next year with Burnes a FA and Bradish hurt. Also, Mayo has been playing 1B in addition to 3B for more than a year
Mayo at 3rd and 1st. Trade Mountcastle. Dump Ced and bring up the kid. It's gonna happen in 2025 so let's do it now. Arias must go and bring up another outfielder. Put Hayes on notice.
The best deals for the Orioles will be in the off-season. There's not enough teams selling right now. I'd hate for them to give up a lot for a rental. But if Skubal was available for Holliday I'd be just fine with that.

Love for the Orioles to get Tanner Scott. There is a void in the bullpen with Coulombe out until September. Could be co closer with Kimbrel.

That dude said Raymond Urias. 😆😆😆
Been on the DFA Urias train for a while now. His time has passed, they need to call up Mayo instead of letting him waste away in Triple A
Mullins is still arguably one of the best defensive CF in the league hands down
Dont need a closer. Dont need Mason. Thats daydream stuff. They need a SP first and foremost.
Skubal and Carlos Estevez are the two moves I want to see the Orioles make.

Mullins and Mountcastle need to go!
why would you move Mountcastle? He plays gold glove level first base, has a .272 avg with 12 hr, and a .770 ops this season.
@@darkwulf2k : Because he's another high value asset the O's will not resign and Mayo is Os future 1st baseman.

If the Orioles would give up a big package, it would be a controllable starter.
Make a trade with Seattle for Gilbert, another trade with Miami for Weathers, and trade Basallo for Miller.

Orioles need a #3, i’d roll the die on crochet

Bassitt is nothing but a hound dog, but a more faithful hound you will not find.
Trade Urias Mullins Stowers and anyone from the 2024 draft and get a couple of pitchers 😊😊😊
The Finkinator is back what a time to be alive
Lucas Erceg would be a cheaper option than Mason Miller
It appears It may be time to move Mountcastle?
