The entire video is one big pucker; yet I can’t look away. As someone else mentioned, just having a solid memory of the intricate course is incredible to me.
This video explains a lot about top motorcycle racing. The combination of the skill to ride at the limits plus memorize such a long and complex course is of course very rare. That is why, to me, the Isle of Man was taken off the GP circuit but remains as an incredibly difficult race to win. The very talented riders of GP could not deal with such a long and complex course. This is not to denigrate them, but only to say that this is a very different world. Let's keep this tradition going. There is nothing else like it in the world.
Your comparison is nonsensical. The only thing that sets Isle of Man TT apart is that it is deadly. And it has nothing to do with speed, but with how unforgiving the "track" is in terms of terrain, mainly because it is not a track at all. You can fall off a bike going at 20mph, hit your head into one of those stone street walls and die instantly, while in motogp you can fall at 180mph, and slide on your back into an evenly layered grass, stand up and walk away. Professional racing tracks are no less complex and require no less intelligence. On the contrary, those things aside they are also extremely physically demanding, requiring maximum attention as the race is twice as long than Islw of Man (40miles vs 80)
Absolutely would have to ride the course many times to remember every key moment to choose the apex and the max speed. I've been on 2 wheels since 8. I'm 51 and ride FZ6R + FZ09. 24 years that I rode the TT Cours four times. I remember most of the track. I was there not during TT races and my motorbike made 100 mph max. The Cours is just unforgettable! What John does is more than amazing!
and poxy footballers get £100000 + a week ... I honestly think john is worth more than that just for this ride. utter guts, strength and skill. its beyond belief how anyone can ride this fast. I shit myself over 55mph on a straight road.
I'm afraid not there is next to no prize money, and they are mostly small private teams, some of the top riders might get paid, but nothing like a football player. they do it for the love of the sport!!!
And professional video game players get anywhere from $100000 (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) to $1.8 million (Dota 2) for winning biggest tournament of the year (that's per player, 5 players in a team), plus a lot of money for other tournaments throughout the year. The total prize pool for 2016 International (biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year) was over $20 million! It's like "Unknown Name" said, it's all about the fans and how much the sport is supported financially. Small fan base - small prize pools. IOM TT is something only a true motorbike fan loves and they are a very small minority compared to general population, as I'm sure you'll agree. Yes, it makes no sense compared to how much these guys risk but that's the world we live in, it's all about the supply vs demand.
Also, IOM TT is something very extreme on the sports spectrum. That means very small number of people can really connect to it and an even smaller number can actually ride it. And in order to have a large fan base and be popular, you need to be widely accessible. Not to mention the fact that, if you're not British, chances are you probably haven't even heard of TT or had the chance or money to ever go to one of the events. People are more likely to connect to something they can enjoy themselves, personally. Every other sport - football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, etc. that's something all of us can play and enjoy and acquire greater appreciation for what professional players can do. And therein lies the catch - how many people do you know that ride a motorbike? Very small number compared to those driving a car, right? And how many of those like to ride fast, how many like extreme speeds? Even smaller number, I'd guess. So it all comes down to that - numbers. All that makes IOM TT a very niche event, something for the aficionados. And when the bikers are already in the minority, it makes it even more special and in turn, less likely to be getting a lot of attention and be viable from financial standpoint if you're a potential sponsor and looking to invest money.
15:16 over a hill.... front wheel in the air going who knows how fast... wheel touches the pavement and in a blink of the eye there's a stone wall inches away. Unreal.
I rode motorcycles for many years, watching this i break out into a sweat.... I cannot even fathom running at 10/10’s for one 37.5 mile lap, multiple times remembering such an intricate street course with the surface changes, tree cover, the painted lines (running in the rain no less) it takes a infinite amount of concentration, fearlessness and balls of steel. Just seeing the lean angles these guys through turns....talk about commitment and absolute confidence. I can’t imagine how they ride on a normal day when they’re not racing? Outstanding skill!
John is so smooth through the track and appears to not use the brakes as much as most other riders. It's easy to see why he's won 23 times.. A true maestro on the Isle of Man!!
These POV videos show the skill and daring these riders have. No sport matches IOMTT, not one even close. Hats off and mad respect and envy of their skills. I live bikes but could never ride anywhere near that level. But as a sportbike rider for years I understand how skilled they are.
These guys are truly insane. I’ve watched videos of the TT since the 70’s and I can’t understand how they get the courage to run this fast on narrow roads through tiny hamlets like this. Just amazing riding skill.
2020 coming to an end ,2021 TT cancelled and John Mc is thinking of retiring from TT racing So Sad ,After watching this video and seeing your skill etc I bet millions of people will miss you riding your big lady around the tracks /roads but whot ever you do ,stay safe and happy with your family in
John is an absolute Monster behind the bars. The experience & knowledge he has of every inch of this 37+ mile track is just mind blowing. There have been some real great and there still are some greats like Peter Hickman etc etc......but there was just something about John's riding style and how aggressive he is with throttle application and corner entry, guys just an absolute charger, and a Legend.
Guy Martin is my favorite but Johns lap here is just so much more on the pipe, I mean it's louder, faster, he brakes harder stays in the gas longer I mean he's nearly faster than the bike, this dude is riding the absolute shit out of it.
@aydinvideo, here's a free reality check for you and your so called master. Joey Dunlop is the True Master of the TT. Joey Dunlop beat john m. and david j. when he was an old man. So becareful with your punchlines, because you'll get called out on all this master talk crap. John may have inspired you, fine. But the King who holds the record is Joey Dunlop.
+ATLPOWERED McPint is the current master on modern era machines- and all time fastest lap record holder at 132.701mph. Joey died 15+ years ago, and therefore was never able to compete at today's level with the new generation of bikes. This year John also has the opportunity to break Joey's record holding (26) number of wins- but my comment still stands. John McGuinness is the FASTEST man ever to ride the mountain course- a true legend, and master of the TT.
+ATLPOWERED joey was the master, but sadly is no longer. besides he beat John while being old yes but John didn't have anything like the experience he does now. anyway, it's all ifs and buts. comparing two riders from different eras is futile, would Fangio beat Hamilton in a new Mercedes gran prix car, no way but he'd thrash him in a 50s merc. it's a different skill set.
+aydinvideo I have to say joey stopped winning on the big bikes a long time before he died.were as John is still doing the business. not taking anything away from joey I'm a massive fan and seen him race on the island in 89 on my first visit
+rob sim "I have to say joey stopped winning on the big bikes a long time before he died." Have you forgotten his win in the 2000 Superbike race on the SP2 just a few weeks before his fatal crash in Estonia. Perhaps the competition wasn't as ferocious as it is now, but Joey did set his own personal best lap of over 123mph during that race.
This makes every other form of motor racing look tame. These guys are so brave and have so much confidence in their skill. Respect. John McGuinness is one of the all time IOm greats.
For me he is one of very few true succesfull men. Doing what he loves, best in it and doing it with his family by his side. That has more worth for me that all the money in the world.
This is a great example of the 'slow in, fast out' approach that TT veterans are always talking about. Listen how soon and how hard John gets on the power exiting turns. Brilliant stuff.
I think you have to a special kind of mind to do this, to remember all those bends and corners, and to put the danger out of your thoughts,,, these guys are amazingly, scarily special
Never fails to blow my mind or give me goosebumps every time I watch Mcguinness. He is a true legend and one of if not the best to ever ride a motorcycle. Me and my girl are huge hopefully have the honor see in in person

God, it takes a separate set of balls just to WATCH an onboard run... can't comprehend what balls of sheer adamantium this guy must have. Special respect.
As the IoM TT is upon us soon it's May 2024. I hope and pray John gets his 24th win this year! Or his 48th podium. Either way the man is an absolute legend, he has nothing more to prove. John McGuinness for the 24th TT win 2024 🏁🏍🥇🏆
The way he's taking those curves is giving me a heart attack. Not the super hard turns, but a ton of these curves. Crazy how he can control it like that.
I couldn't even process or decide the turns and where the road ends... This takes balls of steel to stay calm in this speed... And it's so amazing that these roads are public roads and not the track 😵😵😵
McGuiness ,Martin The Dunlop's All super fast ,balls to the wall racers I get lil beads of sweat across my forehead when I watch these guys just become fluid on 2 wheels .I can't explain it but my respect to any guy or girl who can run this track at insane speeds ,and maintain these speeds sliding into corners at over 100 mph ,2 strokes ,elbow dragging maniacs that I respect so much Guy martin is involved in a spitfire planes Dug out the sand of Dunkirk .That man loves to go fast IN ANYTHING same goes for the rest of the guys Nothing but respect from motor bike racer (no where near the caliber of these true pros ) But I try and have fun ,and yes I move for the faster Guys .I just love motorcycle racing
You may enjoy on You Tube CRASH ISLE OF MAN TT WET PATCHES with a nice little "chat" at end .Hope you make it over soon and the Classic TT later in the year a good event to attend
Amazing riding skills , you can see the bike trying get away from him a few times , and is that wheel slip you hear when the revs suddenly rise very quickly , it must be like driving in a tunnel at those speeds much respect.
It’s not wheel slip you hear. The tyre has a smaller circumference on the edge to what it has in the middle. As the bike leans over the bike is travelling at the same speed but the wheel is having to turn faster to match the forward momentum so the revs will rise but the speed remains the same.
Forget Formula 1 etc. etc. This is proper racing and old school. No idea how this is actually allowed anymore, fair play to all the riders. Very brave, all of them and the true spririt of racing. Their reaction times must be incredible. 12 minutes plus for the whole 35+ miles circuit on public roads!!? Crazy.
I truly have zero desire to travel outside the few states that surround the state I currently reside in. Except to see the IoM TT. It is the absolute pinnacle of moto racing.
Wonderful example of the skill of a TT rider, one of the all time greats, no arguments. The change of track conditions due to the weather, previous or current. The constant awareness for the potential of having another rider in front of you that could have a massive impact on your flat out lap . Racing in dappled light, going into high speed corners blind at speeds that really shouldn't be achieved. Never stop with this wonderful race. The true Champions of pure road motorcycle racing . I salute you one and all, regardless of any podium finish......
So many “what ifs” man, but one thing that will never be questioned is the respect all TT participants have rightfully earned by their opponents and all viewers of the sport. By far the most insane thing I have ever witnessed in my life.
Through the built up areas at 0:06:20 and beyond... absolute perfect bike placement... there wouldn't be much left of him if he wasn't as perfect as he is...
As fast as this looks on screen, until you've been and seen, you'll never appreciate just how mind - meltingly fast the TT is. It's actually shocking, but in a good way. 🇮🇲🇮🇲🇮🇲
You watch things sometimes and it gives you the urge to go out and do it, like motorbikes for example. This however makes me not want to ride and simply say I’ll leave it to the experts. Absolute respect the most skilled and fearless in motorsport.
Somehow, this is one of the safest motorsport events. So many riders do this race each year, at approaching this speed, for many laps of practice and race in several events, and yet only one or two fatalities occur each year. Kudos.

And when the bikers are already in the minority, it makes it even more special and in turn, less likely to be getting a lot of attention and be viable from financial standpoint if you're a potential sponsor and looking to invest money.
yammyrob I agree with you but these guys don't do it for the money.
15:16 over a hill.... front wheel in the air going who knows how fast... wheel touches the pavement and in a blink of the eye there's a stone wall inches away. Unreal.
Thanks for watching and ur support. I do wheel stands wide open at sometimes 230 mph. MY BEST
Don't forget, this is just ONE lap. John carries on and does ANOTHER FIVE at this speed. Awesome. 😅
How's that even possible the guys a machine
I can never get tired of watching this, its just amazing!
Eight years since the video has been posted but I still love to come back and watch it. JM, true genius
Full crank like 120ft from the corner, straightening up in the apex.....look at the white lines blurring....absolute diamond 💎
Guy Martin is my favorite but Johns lap here is just so much more on the pipe, I mean it's louder, faster, he brakes harder stays in the gas longer I mean he's nearly faster than the bike, this dude is riding the absolute shit out of it.
I was half way through this video and the tension was draining. The focus this guy has is incredible.
@@wallymcguire2033 He does it for 6 laps!!!!! It's completely insane!!!
Guy Martin had a box full of nothings
@@richlee509That’s right he’s sucks
Omg. The lines he takes, the sound, the view. This is so good to watch almost getting in a trans like state. Respect
Long live the master! One of my biggest inspirations is John and his amazing record. Here's to many more senior TT wins!
WORLD CHAMPION DNA .
john is to me the best motorcycle rider in the worl
supersenses.
thanks to all the isle of man tt for providing such race
RESPECT
For me he is one of very few true succesfull men. Doing what he loves, best in it and doing it with his family by his side. That has more worth for me that all the money in the world.
True. That bike ain't powered by the petrol engine, it's power by the sheer force of his balls....
@@srinitaaigaura Hol up that sounds a bit wrong
No you want mean joey dunlop !!!!
This is a great example of the 'slow in, fast out' approach that TT veterans are always talking about. Listen how soon and how hard John gets on the power exiting turns. Brilliant stuff.
G-force baby!
I think you have to a special kind of mind to do this, to remember all those bends and corners, and to put the danger out of your thoughts,,, these guys are amazingly, scarily special
Fantasztikus, egyszerűen nem lehet vele betelni,látni ezeket a nagyszerű motorosokat ahogy száguldanak!!!!!!!
txs for upload...
unbelievable! unbelievable! He is so so good...
Beyond Ridiculous Speed, there is Surreal Speed... was waiting for the cam lens to implode
John McGuinness - just incredible, and for so many years #1. Ridiculously skilled.
almost 2 years later, and its still my favorite youtube video!!!
Crazy fast! One of the best riders ever! Thanks for riding and thanks for posting!
As an ex Morcambrian born and bred, loving watching John race. Don't ever stop!
Never fails to blow my mind or give me goosebumps every time I watch Mcguinness. He is a true legend and one of if not the best to ever ride a motorcycle. Me and my girl are huge hopefully have the honor see in in person
Thanks mate cheers RACING LIKE HELL TO GET TO HEAVEN. FULL TILT NOOO LIMIT
All I wanted for Christmas was a plane ticket to Isle of Man in May.
+Bert Nunyabusiness You can get there if you swim ;-)
+Liam Evans
Now there is a cost effective way to travel. I'll start training today. Better yet, if I start swimming there today, I might get there by May. :o)
+Bert Nunyabusiness Soooo.....how is the swimming going? How far have you gotten?
L.S. Moto I guess he died pray for the ambitious one
RIP ;(
How is it possible to dislike that?
Angelo Pirelli The dislikes are just pussys who are afraid of fast motorcycles. :)
Or maybe his wife, children and parents.
@@Konleb or maybe militant health and safety officers.
Basically 202 cockwombles have no life and see pleasure in making everyone else as miserable as them.
I stood at the side of the road marshalling at Glen Vine traffic lights when this wonderful man streaked by every time he passed us was exactly the same line a real master of his art thank you John
God, it takes a separate set of balls just to WATCH an onboard run... can't comprehend what balls of sheer adamantium this guy must have. Special respect.
Absolutely amazing. Even better without music that just ruins hearing what the bike is doing.
Music would have ruined this so badly.
I am a professional mate 35 years of experience cheers
very excited to hear John will be racing there again this year! also, super glad the race will take place this year!!!
What's the rush? The pubs are still open.
NOT ANYMORE MATE, STORM THE PUBS
Fast forward to April 2020!
It truly looks like there are no unnecessary motions and every move is perfectly calculated, just a brilliant skill!
These guys just take racing to another level. Absolutely mad lads
Yes, they raise them different there.
I couldn't even process or decide the turns and where the road ends... This takes balls of steel to stay calm in this speed... And it's so amazing that these roads are public roads and not the track 😵😵😵
Brilliant. Simply brilliant!...
:-)
Great pilots make great races...
From Brussels, with Love
Incredible watching these Iom TT guys at work. Riding flat out. Don't make a mistake whatever you do!
Straight up one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
This is pure art!
Just watching this makes my insides turn into a ball🤪
i gotta say, i can see why he is so great. He takes the slower portions so much faster than the other guys
Its not even real at this level. It transcends reality. Its really a thing of beauty to see. Hats off to you man.
These guys are true warriors. They know the risks but its just the way things are.
RIP to all those who never made it through. Ride high boys.
as simple as it is, this guy is the best motorcycle rider on the planet.
oh my days!!!!!! I've been waiting to see this lap by John for like ever. Merry Xmas John and the team
So precise , so smooth.
McGuiness ,Martin The Dunlop's All super fast ,balls to the wall racers I get lil beads of sweat across my forehead when I watch these guys just become fluid on 2 wheels .I can't explain it but my respect to any guy or girl who can run this track at insane speeds ,and maintain these speeds sliding into corners at over 100 mph ,2 strokes ,elbow dragging maniacs that I respect so much Guy martin is involved in a spitfire planes Dug out the sand of Dunkirk .That man loves to go fast IN ANYTHING same goes for the rest of the guys Nothing but respect from motor bike racer (no where near the caliber of these true pros ) But I try and have fun ,and yes I move for the faster Guys .I just love motorcycle racing
just to remember that racing line is insane. every apex. every turn. every braking point and acceleration point is mind boggling.
I’m in tears. This is the best film I’ve ever seen.
In a later interview about this run, he indicated it was an 8/10s effort...
"no place is worth 10/10s, it's just a riding experience"...
So much respect for Mr McGuinness and his fellow rider mates! Just incredible!!! A froggy from south of France. I'll be there one day!
You may enjoy on You Tube CRASH ISLE OF MAN TT WET PATCHES
with a nice little "chat" at end .Hope you make it over soon and the Classic TT
later in the year a good event to attend
Mega !!! :O
John... is slill the Namber One !
I never get tired of the sound of the engine at red line. A true test of focus and courage.
Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset or mad, is a full minute of happiness you will never get back.
Wow, the graphics is amazing in this arcade game....
Crazy.
Gracious! Moto GP ain't got nothing on these cats, freaking awesome!
Completely different kettle of fish, can’t be compared. Love both.
I think if you put Marc Marquez in the TT he would still find a way to be the fastest after he memorizes the course
@@NooDLES411911 🤣😂
@@NooDLES411911 But if you put John McGuiness in MotoGP he would have like 20 titles
Respect John riding so fast with his big ballz 😉🙏🥇
Check out the slide @8:53!According to his twitter-comment, he lost 0.3 of a second ther..not much else going on.Balls of steel, is all I say.
with his skills .3 is nothing to gain back
I truly have zero desire to travel outside the few states that surround the state I currently reside in. Except to see the IoM TT. It is the absolute pinnacle of moto racing.
6:31-6:40 when you know every corner of your house, that u run blindfolded.
Why hasn't anyone put a "like" on this perceptive comment ?
Well I have....
@@willdixon2349 Filed under, "appreciation" Will. 👍🏻🏍🏁
I was watching this video and there were some waves in my cup of coffee...
could watch 1000 times. it still would be very impressive and much joy to feel with this good man. Sir McGuinnes
Literally no place on that road where you can say: "meh, he could have taken that portion faster". These guys are insane.
So many “what ifs” man, but one thing that will never be questioned is the respect all TT participants have rightfully earned by their opponents and all viewers of the sport. By far the most insane thing I have ever witnessed in my life.
His bike is wobbly, because his balls are so big and heavy that they affect aerodynamics and gravity center of a bike!
Through the built up areas at 0:06:20 and beyond... absolute perfect bike placement... there wouldn't be much left of him if he wasn't as perfect as he is...
This footage makes me appreciate the Isle of Man TT race game even more! Now I want to go and try to beat his time.
Good luck with that ;-)
My God… That is just incredible… Massive, massive respect..
I want a cup or medal! I can hold my breath for 17 minutes without blinking.
I've watched so many of these TT videos and I still can't wrap my head around how these guys do this.
Amazing!!! John is the king of the road.
So I’m told by many
As fast as this looks on screen, until you've been and seen, you'll never appreciate just how mind - meltingly fast the TT is. It's actually shocking, but in a good way. 🇮🇲🇮🇲🇮🇲
Fast, riding on EDGE, tt race best of the world :)
Definitely on edge. taking every inch of the track possible
I can’t stop commenting, it’s so mind blowing!
I love how he controls the bike when he bounces off kerbs going about 150mph.
You watch things sometimes and it gives you the urge to go out and do it, like motorbikes for example. This however makes me not want to ride and simply say I’ll leave it to the experts. Absolute respect the most skilled and fearless in motorsport.
this is incredible footage
Somehow, this is one of the safest motorsport events.
So many riders do this race each year, at approaching this speed, for many laps of practice and race in several events, and yet only one or two fatalities occur each year.
Kudos.
