    This is a great interview. Joseph is a regular guy, and owns up to his past very well. I like how he knows what his strengths and weaknesses are, and is confident with who he is. He's proof that every musician doesn't have to be a classically-trained expert to get the job done! He's a working-man's musician who learned his skill by doing it along the way. I'm sure that his father's influence was also important as well..

    Great interview of Joseph Williams!
    It was great to hear an incredible thorough interview of him and get his thoughts of studio, production, writing & performance.
    I never really heard him interviewed much.
    Great talent, very humble man.
    Obviously, myself loving Fahrenheit, The Seventh One.

    I love Toto and I'm intrigued to hear more from Joseph Williams. In the 90's (as a youngster) took over as lead singer for a Band in Kansas City. They were having problems with their current lead singer and were looking for a fresh/new/young singer to "slide in" and meet the requirements for bookings they had for their tour of the Midwest. When I hear him speak about the situational intricacies and things he experienced it really mirrors my situation. I can completely empathize with his timeline continuum with Toto. I have a great respect for his singing, voice, musical capabilities etc. Darn, I wish I could communicate to him how influential Toto's music has been since he joined them. Well.... hmmm.... We have a cat named "Pamela" a dog named Melanie. They both get really excited when they look outside the window to see Rosanna (our squirrel) running, free range in the yard. LOL. Love Toto and especially Joseph!

    I admire the fact that he only mentions his dad in passing and of course everyone in the world knows Joseph's dad or at the very least has hummed or whistled something he wrote. Joseph also did the singing for the grown Simba in Disney's The Lion King. And you're such a great interviewer because you know the music so well. It's always a bit painful when an interviewer goes into an interview "cold" and asks all of the obvious questions like, "what advice would you give to anyone starting out in this business," so it's so awesome hearing you ask about specific deep cuts on different albums.

    Joseph is back ! One of the most infectious voices of all time, and probably the only voice from that era that still stands along with Sammy Hagar. I have been amassing his WCF work from Qobuz and ITunes, and looking forward to his solo album.

      As much as I have loved all of their projects, and tried to mimic Dave's keyboard playing, The Seventh One in 1988 was outstanding! Wore that cassette out! I wish they would remix that project and re-release. It was before CD's were richly mixed. Selfishly, I've always loved hearing Joe as the lead. It had such a unique energy.

    I remember when Steve said he was burned out after touring back 15-20 years ago and he was ready for Toto to just die. But I guess when Mike got ill Steve knew that he had to come back and help Mike out financially. When you walk away from something that you have put your whole being into it it takes a while before you can appreciate the true value of your volume of work. Steve and Joseph can always do their own things because they are very creative people who need to express their creativity in some form. It is therapy and it is fun. But the band are family and that emotional bond is just never going away.

      Steve Porcaro had his own serious health problem in the mid 90's. He had a benign tumor in his brain. Surgery left him deaf in one ear. He's still an awesome musician and has done quite well since.
      The Porcaro brothers went through so much tragedy. No matter the cause, it's sad.

    Tom.....Joe's voice has really got better through the years, and he has proved that he is an important part of toto today, but we can´t denay the fact that Bobby was, is and he will be THE SINGER, who sang on hold the line, africa and rossana.............since toto iv he became a true legend and a voice that you can´t replace. Many people got into toto by that distintintive voice of THAT SINGER. Any who watched the concert in Yokohama 1999 or Amsterdam 2003 can notice that bobby delivered so much to the band during 1999 - 2003. I´m just saying that both singers deserve a recognition for their contributions, in the case of Joe would be: Pamela, stop loving you, home of the brave, lea, till the end....etc. and in the case of bobby: Rossana, hold the line, Africa, i´ll supply the love, girl goodbye.....etc.

    It was nice to finally see an interview with a representative of "Toto" who does not spend a significant portion of their interview bad mouthing people that are (more or less) responsible for his career and then preaching "peace and love" yea Luke, we're talking to you 😂😂😂😂😂

    • @msoileau83
      @msoileau83 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything Luke says is true. And Paich has more to do with his success than a lot of those motherf*ckers and he is still friends with him. Get over it.

    • @lizardlogic2564
      @lizardlogic2564 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you went through what Luke encountered, it would be a difficult road. The whole band had to learn to cope with tragedy, and then corporate greed, and then anger and spite from someone who was part of the Toto extended family. We all cope differently.

    • @waltersimmons946
      @waltersimmons946 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @kmart3453 Right !! JOE SAID "BOBBY KIMBALL WAS NOT ONLY A GREAT SINGER BUT ALSO A LOUD SINGER" Joe has said exactly this before. He's said repeatedly "IM A BOBBY KIMBALL FAN" even during interviews in 80s . The other person posting didn't listen very well. Joe would never attack anybody and I'm a big Bobby Kimball fan defending Joe on this one.

    • @waltersimmons946
      @waltersimmons946 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @jamesa.1345 I can say yes, Kimball was always a great singer. I've heard Joe Williams have some "not so great nights" even after he returned to Toto, and I've heard Lou Gramm in his prime way before the brain tumor have some "not so great nights." What makes Kimball, Williams, and Gramm great is that they are all human, but they keep going. They don't stop because they fall short. Singers can't escape imperfections. That's life.
