It warms my soul that Puggy is back and he's the hero we deserve. First tournament he was rostered into my human team - I don't think I've attended one without him since. Can I play well? That isn't the question. The answer is Puggy.
Good to see him back :) He's got the same AV as normal flings, though. Hefties even got AV8+.
AV 7+ is standard Fling armour value.

Puggy was one of our favourite stars in our bb2 league, stunty blodge is nothing to be messed with!

Puggy is the first Star Player I played against! My Necro v. halfling with Puggy and Cindy.
I did underrate him in the game, to my cost! He got through my zombie line and almost won the game for the Halflings
Oh thanks way to make me feel old. In my first pack of 2nd edition star players.
Puggy is good for halfling team, but he is very useful on an Imperial w/ Ogre team and OWA w/ Treeman. He will be great for throwing into the backfield and getting hold of the ball for a quick score threat.

I know I'm late to the comments, but I used Puggy for the first time yesterday as Halflings vs Black Orcs. I asked a LOT of Puggy and he did almost everything I asked of him. I cannot see myself playing Halflings without him as an auto include. My master chef also stole 0 rerolls all game...
I hope Puggy gets a new mini, especially if it’s similar to the Halfling Heftys!

The new FW model is tremendous.
Just 400k gets you Deeproot & Puggy. Hell, 500k gets you Morg & Puggy! Two pretty good combos for League or Tourney.
Rather a lot optimism about how he'll contribute 'all match', given the AV7+. But nice star player for cage attacks yeah. Miles cheaper than if, say, one of my Skinks got +1ST whch would add +80k TV.
It funny that Bomber, Nobbla, and Pungy are cheaper than they where back in LRB6 but Fungus Stayed the Same Cost.?? Huh. As for Puggy I see him mostly used by the Ogre team To have a Str 3 person to handle the ball at half the price of Gak and Crummbleberry is good.

If we take a Halfling Hopeful and give him +str, random secondary = block. random secondary = nerves of steel. It'd end up with a player worth a lot more TV then Puggy. He is absolutely worth his price when it comes from a halfling standpoint. But errr. Imagine a human thrower getting a secondary and two primairy skill to match him for a lot less of the cost. Hmmm. I still like Puggy darn it!
Stunty is hard to value though
Loner is hard to value as well. But if you choose those skills and Stat up alone is 160k.
He's great value by math from the horrible halfling baseline (hanflings are cool but poor value when given expensive stat upgrades etc), but yeah there are still plenty of ordinary roster positionals at around Puggy's cost who are still better than him (Wardancers etc).
Hey Ben, I believe you are wrong with your comparisson between Cindy and Puggy.
I totaly agree with you, that Cindy is realy good. I like such nonsence like secret weapons equally to you. But Cindy will stay on the pitch for just 1 turn!
Puggy stays. And there are many players, which rate a solid player higher than some one hit wunder shenenigans. Many experienced player, which I know and which take the game a bit to serious are highly hyped by solid bets. And puggy delivers a S3 Dodger for 120k. On top u recieve his special ability, which gives him a reroll (at least if I understood you right) and nerves of steel.
So If I would rate Puggy, then I would rate him realy high, because in some way he is compareable to a cheap man's Griff. I mean jeah, he is not als op as Griff himself, but he brings his potential. There are gameplays, where u don't need more.
And all teams, rather than 1, which could take him (Dwarfs) get acces to throw teammate. And for dwarfs he is a nice ballcarrier. He is totaly fine in his bracket.
I mean, it depends on the individual game and how much money u got left over. But he is actually pretty nice.
The point isn’t that puggy is bad, it’s the comparison with the bomber stars. The bombers are so cheap you can induce (or buy) them without losing much. The bomber star players can win a game without much variance in a couple of turns (especially for tier 1 teams) by removing a couple of players. You go down a couple of players against goblins you can still play. You go down a couple of players against dwarves, Chorfs or Orcs your opponent has to make mistakes to let you in.
@@christopherblackburn6811 that's parttime true. Bombers ect. Are cheap, because they got the Disadvantage of secret weapon. (Questionable, why this doesn't count for the deathroller, but k)
They just can stay for 1 drive. K fine.
But to get a benefit out of them, they got to deliver.
If the enemy is able to bring a 1 turn td, or has to high armor and the dice rolls to bad, then the secret weapon star brings u absolutely nothing.
I mean, if we are talking about squishy targets, then there is always a good opportunity, that these got high agility and catch the bomb. So most bombs are placed infront of them, where they won't get full effect and likely won't hurt the jucy targets.
And then, there is always the opportunity, that secret weapon rolls fail and they knock out themself. (At least in bb 2 this always happened to me, so i got experience with that) so their activation is always keept behind. And so the enemy can react to close the gap emidiatly. Ect.
The useage of secret weapons is mostly great, but they are always risky, too. That can work. The whole goblin team is build arround this concepts idea. But u see their winrates? 37% is not realy much. (K, they might risk to much) but other teams, which take solid player builds risk less and win more. I just say wardancers as an example. There is a reason, why these are tier 1 teams.
And puggy? Puggy fits in that category to. He is realy solid stunty blodge s3 is realy great.
I mean, I totaly agree with you. 5k secret weapon stars are by far to cheap. (they should be priced at least for 80k-120k to my mind, because they are worth it.)
The fact, that if someone buys a solid star by cash gives always the opportunity to counter this with a 5k bomber star easily. And that's not realy a good gamedesign decision.
This makes taking solid stars to risky. But on the other hand you can always risk to squese in a 50k bomber. He is not more worth, than your 6k dedicated fans, so you theoretjcly could get him for free by tv difference, just you took the fans in your roster.
I mean last match with ogors i did it by myself 1st league match and it ended with 12 against 2. (K, ogres collected 16 ssp totaly, so they did their part, too. But the fact, that i was able to take him easily was evil. It was the cream with cherry on top.
Puggy is fairly easy to remove from the field. He's a blodger but with rubbish armour and the stunty injury table.
@@mikefoster6018 Well, lets say, if u got a secret weapon, then I agree. Elsewise, if u have to perform a block, then Blodge S3 is pretty solid. I mean, u know by yourself how anoying it is to remove wardancers. Jeah, Av 6, or 8 is a difference, but it's still quite compareable.
