Totally agree about the full cast in the Illuminae audiobooks! I don't understand why when there already are multiple narrators they can't say their own dialogue in other POVs. I've just been prepping myself to dive right in and lose myself in the whole experience!! I also read Truthwitch in May as well!!! And I can't wait to start Windwitch soon!! Would you say I should read the books in order or can I start Whichwood first? I also love LOVE books with friendships in books. I don't even mind if a book doesn't have romance in it if it has like a really strong friendship. Awwww. I'm so sorry that Circle of Shadows was so disappointing. I remember how much you loved Evelyn's Crown's Game last year :(. YESSSSS!!! A THOUSAND BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS!!!! I love LOVE this book!!! I gave it a 4.5 stars as well. So beautiful!!! OMG!! The Kitsune story. My heart!! And I love how they paralleled it against the Mountain spirit's story which started the anthology. Like both were about female spirits whose human lovers were killed but the two spirits went in two different directions because one was studying her lover after he left and the other was caught up in her upcoming wedding and didn't, and so wasn't able to honour his loss and I am crying right now remembering it. Such an amazing book!! Warcross is high HIGH on my TBR!!! Everyone I know glows so much about the book and I want to read it so bad!!! I haven't read any vampire academy or bloodlines books. I don't know why. I just felt that since I didn't read either growing up, I'm just not as interested in them now, but so glad to see you're loving them. I have the Charlotte and Jamie books but I haven't started them yet. Can't wait to though because I love all things Sherlock and I can't wait to read the spin Brittany's puts on her story of their descendants. And boarding school stories are my kryptonite! I blame all those Mallory Towers and St.Clare books and Naughtiest Girl in School stories I read as a child. Clearly, Enid Blyton was the queen of my childhood. Until JK Rowling arrived and pushed her to second place. I can't believe people are still arguing with you about Iran being in Asia. Smh. What a mess! I participated in the Asian Readathon and only finished a Thousand Beginnings and Endings because my ass got distracted. Smh. I'm a mess. Glad you had a lot of fun and had such a great reading month. I love the Witchlands series!!!! I think the books just get better and better and I have to still yet to read Bloodwitch but I hear it's the best in the series so far!!!! I'm hoping to finish it after I finish my reread of the Red Rising books for the new release coming out in July for that series!!
I read Warcross too! It was awesome, and I completely agree about the ending being a little off. The whole book had me on the edge of my seat, I read/listened to it in 10 days. I actually really loved Ready Player One and was looking for something similarly satisfying; this hit the spot quite nicely.
okay I NEEEED to start the Illuminae files! They've literally been on my tbr for SO LONG Such a pity you didn't like Circle of Shadows. I have it on my shelf but now I don't really feel like picking it up 😅 But wooow you had such a great reading month! Hope June is going to be just as great!
What a great month for reading! I read Home Remedies by Xuan Juliana Wang and it was a compilation of short stories told from the Chinese millennial perspective. Some stories I really loved and cried over and some were just nice short reads. I'd recommend if anyone is looking for something like this after the readathon. I realized that I've been reading from so many white authors, not that that's a bad thing, but I'd love to diversify my TBR.
I absolutely loved Warcross, and honestly the very end made it for me. I didn't see the main twist coming, and it just left me with so much to think about. However, I'm one of those people who didn't like the second book, WIldcard. Maybe you will, though. One can always hope.
I finished Golden Lily today! So great that somebody is reading this series for the first time in same time as I do! I love Sydney, but I don't know how will I forgive her after this book.
The best friendship story I've ever read was in The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch, which remains my favorite book of all time ✨ I know you're hesitant to read it because of Piera but my heart swells every time I think of the friendship in the story because it's so beautiful and pure 😭💘
I've had whichwood on my list. But after watching this i think i may just move it closer to the top of my list. I also participated in the asianreadathon. I really enjoyed 'the promised neverland'.

Having so many 5 stars, meaning that you have made some really great choices, enjoy them. The only downside is when you look back it becomes harder to discern between the "pure" 5s opposed to the "just about" 5s.

I recommend reading it before heir of fire (it was published inbetween crown of midnight and heir of fire) it really makes celaena’s character arc in heir of fire more amazing and more in-depth
i also didn't really enjoy circle of shadows, i liked the novel's concept but didn't think it was written as well as it could have been. the cover is gorgeous, though!

There is research:) My dad is blind and READS audiobooks all the time, try to tell him he didn’t actually read it haha people are weird for no reason about distinctions like that. It’s ableist too, so don’t feel bad about calling people out!
Yes! I actually have seen that research and it makes complete sense. Before the written word became popular the only way stories were told was orally. so really, judging someone for not having PHYSICALLY read a book is not only ableist but just plain leftover from a time that only the rich and noble knew how to read. okay this is probably gonna sound really dumb but i have almost like an issue now where if i start reading a book i have to finish it that day and i was just wondering if any body else is like that. i’m currently reading about a book a day and my mental health is hardcore declining along with my sleep and social life. idek wtf to do.
War Cross was great, the next (wildcard) was meh.. but if you haven’t read The Legend trilogy by Marie Lu, Warcross was based off of something that happens there and it’s also a great trilogy to audiobook (male and female perspective narrators).
I’m very surprised for illumina is better for audio because through the book everything is like files and such. I have the first and have been waiting to dive in. 🤔 it looks cool inside but it’s great when books have multiple narrators.
im in a reading slump only because in the book im reading the chapter im on is about a group i dont particularly care about and id much rather be reading about the other group yknow

Listening to audiobooks greatly increased my concentration/attention span so it is so unfortunate that people don't think of them as real books

I really loved reading it but I think the best experience is reading along to the audio book since Illuminae is such a visual experience.
I KNOW! I was very hesitant too but it was actually incredible! I recommend following along physically that way you get the whole experience!
