The year this came out I had just bought a funky little red & white radio that clamped onto bicycle handlebars from Radio Shack. Had a little headlight and a beep-beep horn that sounded like a dying sheep. And this song seemed to get played by a local Toronto radio station nearly every time I went for a bike ride that summer. So I forever associate this song with those nostalgic moments in time.

Bc Ian Thomas took a stand against PAYOLA (a business tactic that MAJORLY FUCKED OVR MOST CANADIAN MUSICIANS INCLUDING IAN THOMAS HIMSELF), he was essentially BLACKLISTED HERE I. THE U.S.A.!!!!! In case u 1dered, I have a new phone bc my old phone fell out of my pants pocket 2 months ago @ a local gas station near my residence & was subsequently runover (as a result, I was w/o a phone during U.S. Thanksgiving). What a nice guy he is, i could listen to his stories all night! i only know of him via SCTV ( one of the funniest shows ever made, and a shame it was'nt world wide) heard Pilot on the show and loved it ever since. id like digital copies but cant find them anywhere.

VIince; not only do I agree w/u but along w/his brother Dave Thomas & Rick Moranis (a.k.a.: The McKenzie Brothers), Ian Thomas is ENTERTAINMENT ROYALTY!!!!! Also; he's the Canadian equivalent of Bruce Springsteen. His life experiences r reflective in his songs; w/that said, my life experiences r similar 2 Ian's. I can rel8 2 LOTS of the FBS that he was subjected 2. Ian Thomas (ritefully) blew the whistle on the PAYOLA SCANDAL (especially when it negatively impacted him & most fellow Canadian musicians). In my eyes, Ian Thomas is a PIONEER; not just musically but 4 his stance on HUMANITY!!!!! Though I'm American-born, I pledge my allegiance 2 Canada (especially on the musical front).

Interesting, I saw the Alternative 3 show several years ago but I never would have made the connection to the lyrics in the song!
I'd just like to be his buddy and hang-out sometimes.
I swear those big speakers are the same ones I bought from some guy who had them in the back of a van in a shopping mall. Something about the paperwork was wrong and these speakers are extra, he boss doesn't know and it's all good and he just want $300 for the pair. It was a scam that was running for a couple of years back in the 70's.
I just sold them a few months ago. Think I got my money back.

cool segment but the tune is WAY TOO LOUD! so distracting. and the fake static sound is too much as well.

You'd think they could have found a copy of 'Glider' in far better condition. Those albums are very readily available all over Canada at used record stores for as cheap as $1. Many times in near mint or un-played condition.
