I'm interested in drawing although it's less like I want to and more like I have to.(Though it's my personal matter) But there is a huge problem for some super begginers like me . Who don't even know how to draw a straight line. We all know that a man makes perfect but if we do it wrong way it's not going to make any progress. So we need a guideline for begining drawing . I mean, like what should I learn at the very beginning? than what? and what after that and so on. I think if you make a video about these it would be so helpful for some super begginer like me.
Hi dear Proko. I am from Iran. I started to draw using your instructions on youtube. Teaching is an art. You are not only a great teacher but a great artist too. Thanks for being on youtube.❤🎉
My parents are from Iran and my brother is in vacation there rn. I'm planning on asking him to buy and bring me art supplies since it's cheaper there compared to Canadian dollars. Is that true? Are art supplies there cheap ? Thanks
@@sael5084 Some stuff should be, like locally made things, but i reckon that internation products like copic markers and stuff are still going to cost the same or be in a similar price range. Not sure though, hope you're able to get your art supplies!
@@xaku5383 copic are always expensive but I'm more of a white black artist who only draws concepts and shades occasionally. I'll ask my family to visit their store and record live so I can compare the prices lol. My brother went and was prescribed antibiotics and other medications and it costs him like 2 dollars. Very cheap there but depends on what
Personally, I’ve noticed that when considering line weight, less is more. So I’ll choose 2 or 3 “reasons” to adjust my lines, rather than finding every “reason” possible, and overworking it. I suggest studying how your personal “art parents” approach line weight, and trying those out on quick smaller drawings (so you can try lots over a shorter period of time) and choose your preferences from there. Great video, very helpful!
this sounds really helpful to me right now, cuz im always confused about which thing should i give the most line weight? over lap or shadow or silhouette etc.
Thank you Proko - I’ve been practicing considering the hierarchy of lines and my drawings communicate much clearer ! Quick question: How do you choose which line principle to consider first when drawing?
Probably it makes sense (more easier especially for beginners) to start with the dimension of Width-Thickness and then follow with the step for line values. It is also in synch (more consistent as a workflow) with the erasing part displayed by Stan at the end.
Question. At the beginning of the video, we establish that we're going to make the value of the line the darkest in the darkest parts (shadow). But i can't help thinking - in certain lighting scenarios, the "lines" would be more conspicuous on the lit side, not in shadow. So i wonder, wouldn't it make more sense to make lines on the lit side darker, at least in certain cases? Or would we rather bring blurriness into play, but keep the lines on the darkest side darker? What would be more effective/make more sense?

Hey Stan- I’ve been a fan of yours for years. I love your tutorials, your podcast, love it all. I want to get better at figure sculpture and was thrilled to find you had a 3D teacher under your umbrella, UNTIL… I found his own channel where he makes racist, homophobic, sexist videos. He might be a fine teacher ( I don’t know- I couldn’t bring myself to watch after I saw his other videos). Just made me sad is all.
This is 2023 for Pete's sake. A video showing us a decent prompt that nails your style will do just fine, thank you very much, with added bonus weight prompts just for the heck of it. Midjourney
@_Willow _ I've been illustrating for most of my life. I tried Midjourney out of curiosity. There's NO satisfaction found in just entering prompts to spew out pictures. Hai proko I am neil neehar eight year fan of you from India, Kerala. Thanks for the training. Love you
Stan, your speaking style is changed drastically 🤣 I am following your channel from last 7-8 years. It is very evident.
I started worrying abt the weight of my lines, and then he dropped TWO videos about the topic.
Proko is literally carrying my art skills rn
Somebody who got this down brilliantly was Bill Watterson, with Calvin and Hobbes. And he achieved it with a brush and India ink.
I have been watching proko since I was small and now I have my own TH-cam channel and I am 12 year old boy now
This was so good! 🥳🎉👍🏽 Thank you for the demo Proko! 😀👍🏽✏📙
thank you very much these videos are so helpful
Thanks for your art lessons . Really appreciated your sharing and ideas.

Line weights allow the expression of the overall definition, clarity, depth, and also dimension for your sketches
