  • When the button of your Dyson vacuum cleaner is defective, you will want to replace it so quickly. A broken button can stick or even make your Dyson unusable. Replacing a Dyson button requires some attention, but you don't need any technical knowledge and can do it yourself.
At least until recently. Because, Vacuumtester.com recently discovered that it is unfortunately no longer possible to replace the button of new Dyson vacuum cleaners.

Oh, Dyson, we are done. Especially since I recently replaced the trigger in my V10 (because I was able to). BTW, could you please share which new model(s) are glued like that? Is it V15? Thank you for this info!

It seems like the more expensive the product the more it has nonsense like this preventing you from fixing it. It should be the other way around, the cheap stuff should be throw away, buy another but the expense of stuff should be designed with repairability and longevity in mind.
Can you not scrape off the glue where the button connects to hook up a new one though?

can you remove glue with acetone or heat like it is done one BGA chips that have underfill ?

Just wow. I wonder what problem they thought they were trying to solve? Did a cable come loose a couple of times? Was is something that conformal coating would have fixed? Did they need to stop cable fatigue?

If it's hot glue rubbing alcohol will take it off.

I suspect it's the same substance as they put on the BMS board inside the battery. It comes off easily with 99% IPA. I think it's more about moisture protection and not keeping you out.

I could probably still get in there and swap the button. The glue doesn't look that bad.
But this is probably an attack on the less technical people than me.

its about the principle, hell if a product used to have screw and now its welded in place u can still open it with an angle grinder. but that wont be practical.

Not possible? Don’t give up so easily on life’s challenges! It’s not that difficult to cut around this soft glue with a pick/probe tool that you can buy from a hobby store. Then you can carry on just as normal. Kia kaha!

Wrong!!!! What model is that? Buyer beware. There has been a lot of vacuums that have been refurbished on the stray market that claim to sell legit Dysons. The PCB needs to be cooled and have clean airflow for proper performance. A lot of your detect sensors won't work if that was caked in glue or epoxy. I've seen a lot of v6 dud powerheads with glued or unglued PCBs sold on the market even Amazon as replacements which are refurbished. These are noticed by lacking the Dyson black sticker with the service phone number on them. And even max not written on the switch they may have Dyson written in black on the side of the motor housing, but these are either refurbished or jobber offshoots. Somethings not right there. That's unprofessional and has been altered outside the factory

It’s not wrong, Dyson started doing it. My replacment base that I bought for my v10 last year directly from Dyson came like this and did not even last a year with occasional usage.
      Dyson are scammers.

    • @Ecksterphono
      @Ecksterphono ปีที่แล้ว

@BB not mine unless they are refurbished Dysons. Problem is now airflow sensitivity can't be detected and the vacuum will run a lot warmer and will shut off and flash overheating codes. They use second party to do their refurbished units. So beware as well. But also scammers do that as well. Make sure the Dyson logo is on the PCB and even then beware.

@@Ecksterphono nothing to beware of mate, I do not have the need to pay a shitton of money every 1-2 years to replace the entire base or mess around with the dusty internal parts just to repair a knowingly inserted cheap button that is supposed to break in a short time.
Dyson is mentally ill if they think that customers will accept this. The times were they were the only ones making good cordless vacuums is looong over.

@@BBxx19 Yeah my V10 is the same with the glue present. It was bought from John Lewis or Currys. Hardly a scam lol.
