For sure Korean Zombie's retirement will be part of this list next time around. Though he lost by KO, his retirement was very emotional and the crowd singing "Zombie" while he is walking out was just amazing to see.
Seeing Fedor & Randy in the cage together after Fedor's last fight will always be a very bittersweet sight for me. One of the greatest MMA fights that sadly never got to happen😞
@@AbominationalFailure Yeah, can we get a roll call? I’m 32 and was bawling and smiling while watching Robbie’s send off… he reminds me of my cousin who passed away… sooo humble soo quiet.. but a ruthless beast in the cage. Robbie gave so much to the sport and I’m so happy he got to see how much we care.
Fedor tapping Chuck on the belly and making him laugh was wholesome. From beginning to end Fedor always acted like this was just an enjoyable 9-5 job for him, never made it personal, or acted anything up, just a calm quiet guy, that loved fighting. True legend
One thing to mention about GSP's 2nd retirement, he was able to retire in front of his hometown crowd. The bell Centre is in Montreal QC, which is right beside his hometown of Saint-Isidore.
@@tikemyson1086 so was Khabib before the Gaethje fight but White would not make it since he knows that GSP would just retire again and taking the belt with him. Just like after the Bisping fight. And the same goes for Khabib. If he would have won we would have gotten the one thing he always wanted and after that there is not much more and he would have retired as well. Either way it is bad for business for the UFC and that is way they never really tried to make it.
glad chris lytle getting his flowers…. he has the most underrated podcast in the game, it’s a museum for early MMA history. everybody should go check it out
Thanks for the recommendation. I didn't know Lights Out has a podcast, but he's doing great work commentating in BKFC, and he was always an exciting and game fighter. I'll definitely give his podcast a listen.
I was there for Fedor’s retirement. At the time, it was depressing and I continued to feel that way about it until watching this video; this video changed my perspective on that night. Of course, I would’ve loved to watch him go out on a win, or at least a more competitive fight, but this video helped me focus on the positive and not on the negative. I’m really glad I was there that night.
I started watching ufc 7 years ago on ufc 200 with my very first title fight being Nunez vs Tate and I was the only one rooting for Nunez because all my friends were going for Tate so watching her retire with both belt and having defended of them at the same time made me sooooo emotional ngl
Surprised Mark Munoz wasn't on this list. Dude definitely did things right; retired before he could get seriously hurt, finished with an impressive win that proved he could have kept winning if he so chose.
Another great one was Mark Munoz's retirement. Dude was able to get a win in the Philippines and his post fight interview was very heartfelt and inspiring.
Okay. When Robbie Lawler retired I stood up saluted him and cried as soon as he left the octagon words cannot describe how much I always loved seeing Robbie fight true blood and guts to the last right gonna miss Ruthless 😢🥺
@josephsedqy8168 Bro Robbie was one of the main fighters that got me into MMA your telling me that you can't have emotions seeing your favourite fighter win for the final time. You're a prick
I'm a Kansas City native and have watch Zak for a long time. Getting to see him go out like that with the crowd giving him so much love was awesome. Brought a tear to my eye
Nunes's retirement just shows how important motivation is for champions to stay at the top. Amanda lost some of the motivation (with the birth of her child) and decided to hang it up. She had the talent and skills to remain champ for several years more...but she just decided it was time. GOAT!
5:30 Randy was in the army, not the Air Force. He was in the 101 Airborne Division (paratroopers), which was one of the units my father was in when he served (which was decades before Randy did) and that’s why as soon as he debuted he became my dad’s favorite fighter, and he’s probably the reason why I’ve been a fan of mma for as long as I can remember. We got UFC 1 when I was 3, but I don’t remember watching it live. The first one I remember was the Detroit Dance between Shamrock and Severn, but I got super into it when Randy came onto the scene, and he was the inspiration for me pursuing as many different styles of combat sports as I could find trainers for.
He’s my second favorite fighter ever only behind Frank Shamrock (if anyone cares my third is Mirko Filipovic, fourth is DJ and fifth is Jiri Prochazka {I adore the style he utilizes}). After that there’s a very tightly packed numbers 6-10 on my list.
okay, ill say it. Robbie Lawlers retirement was the BEST.... should have been #1... it was a storybook ending that could have only been better if Robbie was somehow 20 years in and fighting for the title

Amanda Nunes became a fan favorite the second she lit Ronda up like a Christmas tree and she became a LEGEND the time she challenged cyborg when no one else would and went out and knocked her out in 1 minute for double champ status. Sure her retirement fight didn’t light the world on fire but she tripled the strikes her opponent threw and had that classic Nunes smirk while doing so. GOAT 🐐🇧🇷🦁🔥
Think Rockhold deserved a spot on the list. his last fight was a fotn and he proved everyone wrong by showing his grit and toughness after everyone thought hed get completely destroyed by costa. earned a lot of respect despite him being clowned for much of his post championship career and had an earnest and emotional post fight speech
The Atmosphere for that Zak Cummings and Ed Herman fight was Incredible. The crowd was definitely pro Zak but Ed Herman definitely got his respect when he laid his gloves down. I didnt know how much KC loved Zak Cummings till i was there 😂

I'm glad you guys always give Nunes the respect she deserves, way too many people hate on her and discredit her for no reason She is hands down one of the best ever, and needs to be mentioned amongst the Jon Jones, gsps ect
Takanori Gomi one a long losing skid and suffering from many injuries knocked out Melvin Guillard in Japan for Rizin last year. That should be on the list too. Pride champion and Japanese legend.
Amanda Nunes never ducked a fight with another great fighter. She took on Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, Valentina Shevchenko, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate, and every other contender for the best female fighter and beat them all. Other than an uncharacteristic loss to a not particularly impressive fighter near the end, she had an almost perfect career. Most fighters can't end their career on the top like that.
