My prologue ideas for Gears of War E-Day. 13 BE: Marcus and Carlos meet at school. They later stand up to and defeat a gang of bullies. Quick time events to learn movement and hand to hand combat. 4 BE: Cutscene featuring Marcus and Carlos graduating school and then Dom and Maria's wedding. The boys go through basic training for the Army, learning guns, cover and other aspects. 2 BE: Battle of Aspho Fields featuring Marcus, Carlos, Helena Stroud, Hoffman and Dom. Cutscene of the Honor Ceremony for Carlos and Helena. A few days before E-Day: Marcus in a bar and runs into the leader of the gang of bullies from school by chance. The bully apologizes for his past behavior, and tells Marcus he really admires the Gears and that Carlos is a hero.

Honestly, enough time has passed since Carlos death at the Battle and E-Day. Its more than likely the drama will focus on how Dom's kids died in E-Day.
Since gears 2 the gears of war community has been really mixed on the gnasher shotgun, some like it the way it is while others think that it is overpowered and takes away from the fun of the game. In gears 5, the problem became even bigger with the gnasher constantly being tuned by the developers because they did not understand what the community truly wanted it to be. This would cause a dilemma in the community as there was always a certain group of players that were not satisfied with the gnasher tuning which would result in the coalition changing it. Now I want to talk about how to make the gnasher more enjoyable without making unfair and how to fix everything that surrounds it **Gnasher damage Range - ** As we have seen from previous gears games, the gnasher shotgun tuning can either make or break the game. The bottom line in making the gnasher a solid and balanced gun is to have an acceptable gib range and acceptable damage rate. The gib range shouldn’t be in your face nor should it be too far from you where it practically becomes a canon like gears 2. **Solution:** There should be a decent sized gib range and a range for different levels of poke damage to add more depth to gnasher battles. Here is my in-depth explanation | Damage Rate | | Distance | 5 shot downs 20% per shot 🧍♂️_ _ _ _ _🧍♂️ 4 shot downs 25% per shot🧍♂️_ _ _ _🧍♂️ 4 shot downs 25% per shot🧍♂️_ _ _🧍♂️ 3 shot downs 30% per shot🧍♂️_ _🧍♂️ 2 shot downs 50% per shot🧍♂️_🧍♂️ 1 shot (gib) 100% per shot 🧍♂️🧍♂️ Notice each rate of damage eventually adds up to 100% or 90% meaning you’ve downed the enemy, however, a full 100% in one shot would be considered a gib as it should be. Illustration above might not be exactly accurate as to how i would depict gib range distance and such. For gib range you would basically have to be an arms length away from your opponent to get them which I think is fair. For poke damage, I made the distance for 2 shot downs much smaller because modern gears is guilty of making it big and allowing the player to down someone from across the map without giving them any chance to react. It’s small enough so that if you take one step back then you will be in the 3 shot down range and the same goes for 3 shot downs. For the 4 shot downs I made the range bigger than the rest so that it encourage players to poke from afar if they find themselves at a disadvantage when close. If you take to 2 steps back then you will be in the 5 shot down range. 5 shot downs will require a lot of accuracy to land your shots. This would also be the farthest that the gnasher can shoot its target. **Wallbouncing -** Wallbouncing should definitely be kept in the game because it is an important technique to know when engaging in close-quarters combat similar to techniques like strafing. The main issue with wallbouncing is that now, in gears 5, you can cancel your wallbounce while you haven’t even hit a wall yet. Basically this means you can bounce off of the thin air allowing you to dodge shots and get around the map much faster than usual. **Solution:** completely remove slide cancelling. In addition to that, I think that wallbouncing shouldn’t be easily abused without any restrictions on the player. A solution to this is to have a stamina bar enables you to wallbounce when it is full but slows you down as it depletes. **Damage percentage -** 99% damage should not be a thing. A little context here, in gears 5 if you were a little out of gib range and shoot someone you do 99%. This was extremely confusing to many players and it’s not difficult to understand why. Realistically if you do 99% damage to someone they should blown to bits or down depending on the situation. They should not be standing after that shot even with 1% of their health left because that 1% should not make that big of a difference in health. **Solution:** there should be a standard for how much damaged you take when you’re downed and gibbed. I think it should be 90%-95% can be a down while 96%-100% is a gib. **stopping power -** If you don’t know what this is, it’s basically when a you get stunned while your being shot at. Every gun in the game has had it since gears 2 and it’s only made the multiplayer worse because it’s very limiting on the movement. **Soultion:* Completely remove it from the game reduce the stun to 0. Players should move around very freely and getting shot at should not slow them down and disable them from making plays that they want to make. **Active reload -** I don’t think anyone should have the upper hand just because they won a little mini game at the top of the screen. I think it’s an outdated mechanic and it’s just not realistic even though it has been a staple in gears since day 1. It can also be frustrating because active reloading gives weapons damage boost which can down or gib people from distances they would not normally be able to. **Solution:** Remove the damage boost and keep the quick reload
Do you think the game will be open world like Gears 5 or do you suspect that it’ll be a return to form and be linear? Honestly if they drop you off in the city then have a bunch of POIs that you can investigate at your own pace would be interesting.
Won't lie. When I first learned of Carlos and that he was best friends with Marcus. I didn't like it. To me it felt like it undermined Marcus and Dom's friendship. I got into the Gears franchise by first playing Gears of War 2 and then Gears of War 3. Playing Gears of War 1 was WAY after. And of course in all three games Carlos isn't mentioned once. So, when I eventually learned of him being a character. I hated his inclusion into the franchise.
