  • Hy There,
    In this video i show how easy is to blacken steel with spacial solution you can buy here:
    www.chronos.ltd.uk/product-ca...
    Other protection for steel and aluminium:
    www.chronos.ltd.uk/product-ca...
    KIT CONTAINS ALL ITEMS NEEDED TO BLACKEN STEEL ITEMS
    THE KIT USES JUST CHEMICAL ACTION TO TURN STEEL ITEMS BLACK WITHIN A FEW MINUTES JUST BY DIPPING THE ITEM INTO THE BLACKENING SOLUTION
    THIS PROCESS WILL ALSO WORK FOR ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY PLATED WITH ZINC *
    * (NOT YELLOW PASSIVATED ZINC)
    THE BLACKENED STEEL ITEMS WILL NEED TO BE TREATED AFTER DIPPING WITH DEWATERING OIL, OR OTHER FORM OF OIL, VARNISH, LAQUER OR OTHER BARRIER TO PREVENT RUSTING AS THE BLACK LAYER OFFERS VERY LITTLE PROTECTION FROM ATMOSPHERIC ATTACK
    KIT CONTENTS
    BLACK DIPPING TANK, METAL BLACKING SOLUTION 5 L, MASK, GLOVES, EYE PROTECTION GLASSES, CLEANING CLOTH AND INSTRUCTIONS
    English language was always pain in the a** for me, I respect every correction, but please be gentle

      worthy german made hss 10%co roughing endmill for 3€.It was a bit rusty ,some surface rust but still sharp and maybe used once.
      Another one was m20 and m16 taps brand new also german for 5€ both.
      You can find crazy things for cheap on those bazzars.If you know what to look for and how to bargain.
      Unfortunatly mine is 30 km away so i dont go often,but every time i find something.

      @@isidoromaich7226 than it's ok, but i used 2 bottles in a month, so i make this mod, but use roxy much much less, since i buy basic gas burner for 20€ gas is cheap and the flame was bigger, so it heat better even if the temperature is much lower, you can see it when i blackening the big piece into video about rotary table mounting plate...

    I think I'll try this in future times.
    How does it work on high alloyed steel?
    Untill now I clean the parts in hydrochloric acid an then drop them into phosphoric acid.
    Works good with low alloyed steel, but on high alloyes steel it does not work, it just gets not coloured.

    • @TinC33
      @TinC33  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know on what type of steel i try but i try on different types from soft and hard steel (for making cylinders) but alwqys got nice result, the only problem here is that it doesn't offer any antirust protection.

    • @BLECHHAUS
      @BLECHHAUS 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TinC33 Thanks, I only blackenig the steel for the look, not for rust protection. But it is better than nothing.
      Ya wont get 100% rust protection from any coating.
      Sooner or later it will rust.
      If that is really necessary use stainless steel A4 or better - titanium.
      But if ya want to delay the rust, polish the steel to a mirror finish and then wipe some oil on it.
      The smooth surface will rust not so fast or nearly not than a coarse.
      I have a very old (about 50 years) highly polished bearing puller that looks like new and have nearly no rust on it.

    • @TinC33
      @TinC33  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BLECHHAUS true, for good rust protectin we use hot solder protection but it cost just like steel price per kg, but for home use like pins to hook tractor mower, rotator and other tools well they,r protected enough with hot blacking, so heat them and drop to fluxseed oil, that process make enough protection so they don't rust, but anyway they always in use so suface rust wipe away when change the tool.
      But with hot blacking i never got so nice surface as with that solution.

    • @BLECHHAUS
      @BLECHHAUS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TinC33 I knew the process of oilburning (ölbrennen) or blackburning (schwarzbrennen) but the disadvantage is, tht ya have to heat up the workpiece.
      But what is "hot solder protection"??
      What stuff do you use for that process??

    • @TinC33
      @TinC33  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BLECHHAUS we call that process bruniranje.
      With hot solder i think hot galvanizing, but galwanizing is "wide word" when you make some product send it to galvanizing and they drop it into melted solder, i think about 800 degree, and it make thin protective surface wich offer protective almost forever, but the price is 1€ per kg so if the product got 50kg, galvanizing cost 50e.

    it's just cold blue, not a very good choice for protecting the surface
    even the blowtorch and motor oil method is better than cold blue

    • @TinC33
      @TinC33  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think so, that solution make surface only black no protecting at all, so all protection is a thin layer of oil, hot method is much better for protection, but for inside use like tool and stuff i will use that think, because it make much nicier surface, and i got no moisture in workshop, so no problem at all
