Been playing with it for a week, great holiday or walkabout lens which is what it's designed for. At 100mm with the minimal focus distance it does great macro with beautiful bokeh. For landscape it's sharp and covers a good range. It's not a portrait lens or an astro-photography lens, but that's not what it's designed for. I'm very happy with it and for the other types of shooting the RF mount has awesome prime lenses that are fast and are lower cost.
How do the images compare to an Olympus EM-1 Mark ii with the 12-40 f2.8 Pro lens? I have that combo as well as the R6 and am wondering if I should pick up the 24-105 f4-7.2 to use instead for an upcoming trip to Europe. (Also would probably get the 16 f2.8 for the Canon. I have the Laowa 7.5 f2 for the Olympus.) I prize light weight but value high IQ, too!
Have to agree, minus tbe slow aperture my copy of this lens is fantastic. Nearly as sharp as my RF24-105f4L. I find myself using this lens on hikes and for casual ( well lit) photography about 75/25 vs the heavier 24-105F4 version of the lens. IS seems better than my L lens as well ( I have an RP). And the 105mm zoom range allows me to leave the 70-200f4 either at home or in my small sling bag most of the time. If this lens only went to 70mm, I'd be swapping lenses a lot more frequently.

Excellent review! I had the same experience with this lens. I couldn’t be happier!
Love the videos and how you can totally tell how you just love photography. Thx!
Great video and great pictures also!
You have made excellent points on this lens. I usually do f/5.6-8 on my other lenses for video. Cheers!

Muchísimas gracias. Su valiosa y detallada información ha sido determinante para adquirir el objetivo analizado para mi cámara Canon EOS RP
How does this lens compare to the EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 STM IS?
I love this review. Agree 100%. It is a light, cost effective lens that I’m not afraid to walk around with.
Can you try this lense on canon r10.. how does it work and how it looks on camera..
Do fingers jam after attaching it to R10

Yes
I don’t have that lens to check it for you, but I’m betting that AF/MF switch is broken on that lens.
It’s not broken… thats how the RP operates. I wish Canon would release one last, good firmware update for the RP. The last was in 2020.
If you really need blurred backgrounds you can get the 50mm for £200.😊
Forgot to add in the semi-macro capabilities!
